- A friend of mine who has fished with me on camera before named Roger hooked me up with a kids camp called reaching outdoors. They manage 3500 acres in the Texas Hill Country right north of Uvalde. They do week long kids camps, and weekend hunts and adventures with young boys. They are a Christian based organization where they help disciple these young boys while also providing them with the opportunity to learn outdoor skills. Anyway, they wanted me to teach a few fly fishing classes this summer and invited me to come out and fish with them before they start their camps. This way I could scout good spots to take the kids and get to know some of the counselors that will be involved. What an amazing trip! We had almost 4 miles of the Nueses river all to ourselves. What a beautiful river! The clearest water I think I have ever seen. The water was very cool as well since it is spring fed, which I was thankful for since the first day was 100 degrees. Chad caught a couple very nice bass on that first day, and I caught a few small sunfish. But the 2nd day where I was able to explore myself, I was able to hook into two very nice bass and catch a handful of other fish in less than one hour of fishing! What a great weekend spent with some awesome guys! I will definitely be going back and filming more often, as much as they let me! HAHA.
BTW, I recently picked up a drone, so I was able to get some cool footage of their property. I am hoping to be able to use this drone more often in my upcoming videos!

I must have missed this video when it was released! I would love some more information about the camp. Teaching fly fishing and archery is really cool!
Oh yeah man, it’s out north of Uvalde, TX. It’s for boys that are 8-17yo. Their website is reachingoutdoors.org go check it out. They teach hunting, shooting, archery, fishing, etc at this camp. As well as meat processing of wild game, how to cook the game, I believe they will teach fly tying and wilderness survival skills as well. Pretty awesome for a young boy. There is a video (I actually made for them) on their website there that explains it all.
Beautifully clear river. Did you sight fish or just cast? Does the river dry up during the summer months? Looks like a great ministry opportunity.
Most of it was site fishing. You can see the fish in the water for sure. Some blind casting but mostly site casting yeah. I don’t think it dries up normally in the summer, it’s spring fed.
