    +Shoo Rayner I have watched a couple videos on the Golden Ratio before, but nobody got as excited about it as you! I believe you just got caught up in your excitement & made me at least more interested in using the concept in my art. Thanks Shoo!

    Interesting way to create the phi rectangle, there are also five more rectangles related to the golden section (you probably know them) which are generated by swinging diagonals to the baseline which only require creating a square. Really enjoy seeing this information shared. Thanks!

    I see the Fibonacci spiral as a sign of God's hand is creation. It wouldn't make sense for this specific shape to appear in so many ways in nature. I know this is an older video for you, Shoo, and I just found it and I find this concept to be very interesting.

      ***** I know that it is, but it just seems odd that if the universe was made by itself (Big Bang/evolution/whatever the current model of how it happened is), that it seems very unlikely that something so exact could appear in so many places in nature (shells, plants, galaxies). I mean, it is very appealing to look at.
      I just see all of it as evidence that Someone very intelligent made the universe (that the universe is designed). I'm guessing that you don't believe in God's existence, for one reason or another.
      In the Bible, it says that "For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse." ~Romans 1:20
      Anyway, thanks for reading, and I hope you have a great rest of the day.

      That why I have to believe there is a Creator, Almighty God, who put thought into all these patterns & wonders we have to enjoy! :-)

    actually, it's called the Golden Rectangle. My mom taught me about it when I was 7. You can also make it by drawing a square, then you add a rectangle to the square (half the size of your square) and you just continue and then make your spiral
    .

    this is really pricelessly helpful for me at the moment ,thankyou , iv been trying to use more an more sacred and fractal geometry in my artwork and slowly tryin too get my head around the mathematics of it ,dividing and multiplying sections of the canvas by 0.6181 /1.6181 phi etc ,aligning viewpoints and vanishing points and perspectives with the golden ratios ,hope fully il figure out how to make my own fibonacci gauge soon and wont need to do so much mathwork :-/ ,thankyou though because theres not many people around anymore who can show how to do it progressively by hand ,and it seems everyone is just forgetting it all and relying on autocad and other software to do it automatically,which tbh i feel is a great shame ,anyway keep spreading the knowledge eh ,peace :-) . . . from Radford ,UK

    It’s. important for for composition, not quite so much for spirals as for proportions of 1:168.:

    i still dont get it.. what is the impact on visual, if this is something like a measurement to produce proportion.. proportion need comparison, of course material existence is the comparison, at least the one we can touch.. but to apply it on visual? this universe harmony become.. intangible. I can enjoy grabbing a cup made with this ratio, but i failed to understand a visual art work create with it. it always end up in such question like "i made it and so what?" this is to difficult for me

    • @gammondog
      @gammondog 9 років тому +2

      Sribimo El Basically it looks pleasing. Since it is a common pattern in nature this shouldn't be surprising. I share your skepticism and wouldn't go as far as some people and base my definition of art and beauty on the golden ratio.

    Lol that's more like a binary spiral lol..
    Ie 1 2 4 8 16 32.. You should do 1 1 2 3 5 8 13.. And so on, that is why you had the two empty on the bottom. The 1x1, 1x1, 2x2 were right but the 4x4 should have been 3x3 and you should not go smaller unless using a Fibonacci gauge however you were using fib. Numbers so you can't go smaller using the ratio because it's out of context.. Understand?

    • @dezziss
      @dezziss 6 років тому +1

      I was thinking the same thing. I think he ratio of his spiral is 1:4 or 1:0.25. Forgive me if im wrong. My mathteacher was a jerk. Trying to figure it out myself now.

    You are so like a friend of mine his ruling life belief (there has to be a harder way to do this) I took drafting and that is the by far most lengthy and useless attempt to explain? or even not explain how to make a square. A straight edge and a 45% angle though very very very complicated would transform your life. But it might cost more than 97 cents. You would be thrown out of a drafting class 10 min and a straight edge to not draw a single even straight line? And the paper needs another 10 min to erase? But at least the end result is very non geometric (it was magical) But my time has no value. Is there a 30 min video how to make a crooked partial triangle??

    • @anunbeliever4220
      @anunbeliever4220 8 років тому +1

      I dont mean to be harsh which I was. I use drafting as a means of ART MC Escher ect. But that was the most difficult messy and time consuming for what usable results? Way to make a square. Drafting is key to the golden mean ratio art Out put.

  • @Diissiident

    11,111 viewer here: You seem like a very nice guy, however, I think you should take this video down and redo it after doing more research on constructing a golden spiral. You are teaching people incorrect methods. Very incorrect, actually. Seriously, I think it is unethical to leave this up... it would be like me putting up a video explaining that King George discovered America or that pi equals 2.76. Or, at the very least put a caption in the vid explaining your mistake.
