This is because as the temperature of water decreases to 4°C, volume decreases and density increases. Hence, it sinks to the bottom. This continues till the entire water body has a temperature of 4°C. As the temperature of the layer of water on the surface decreases to 0°C, becomes ice. As ice is a bad conductor of heat, water below the ice stays at 4°C. Hence, the aquatic animals can survive.
Thanks brother...for your contribution. Ive stuck anomalously at this anomalous expansion of water topic. Finally thanks for animation tech. filed, without they..how can we understand these phenomenal things! 👏🏻🙏🏻
But would the top layer not interact with bottom layers and heat transfer may take place causing the 4° layer to loose heat and be at 3° eventually all of the lake may freeze?
I had the same doubt. But my physics sir told me that since below 4 °C water starts to expand, the below layer too will not sink and the freezing will happen at very slow rate (ice is a bad conductor)... Till then the summer will come and booyaah... All the fish are still alive.
Cleanest explanation with perfect animatic representation... Thank you ❤️
Thanks bro...u cleared one of my most confusing and irritating doubts

But how will the oxygen from outer environment enter in for the aquatic life to breathe? Plz tell
Aquatic organisms use oxygen dissolved in water
