We are so glad we decided to go to Montreal and then do the Rideau - that was an unexpected journey. AGLCA says it’s America’s Great Loop, they include Canada in the “America”. And thank you for the compliment, I do feel much more confident and comfortable driving the boat!

Thank you, TMac! The dinghy was easier to drive than I thought it would be. And, we decided there was no reason to rush through Canada, can’t go south of Chicago until Oct 1 anyway.
How often do you run the generator to keep things charged up or just rely on alternators charging as you cruise? And how long can you run of just batteries before having to charge up. Looks like an awesome area to explore. Safe travels.
Thank you for watching! If we are not on shore power, we run the generator at least an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening. If the battery voltage gets down to 12.5 volts, we will run the generator more to charge the batteries. If we are traveling, each engine has an alternator - a 3-4 hour run will keep the batteries charged. The only thing that runs off the batteries is the AIS, refrigerator, led lighting, and intermittently the toilet and water pumps. We have never tried to figure out how long the batteries would last, we just keep them charged - lol. We plan to do a video about how we deal with power, charging, and batteries in the near future. Keep a look out!
