    This is the BEST TENSION VIDEO I HAVE EVER WATCH!!!!!! Yes, I did exactly as you explained for bot the bobbin and the upper cones, Checked the Bobbin tension and it dropped just 1 1/4 inch, and then flattened all my cones thread tension knobs, did my first run, and found some threads too loos, and some too tight, so I tightened or loose accordingly, just one half turn accordingly. Now my machine is stitching PERFECTLY!!!!! And I did that also for my single needle machines from Brother, Janome, Viking, but specially the Bernina machines that all of them have a bobbin case and a bobbin coz they are not top load. Infinite thanks for your very detailed and excellently explained video!!!! Jorge

    Save yourself lots of hassle and buy a bobbin tension gauge and an upper thread tension gauge. You will need to check tension often. Gauges are better than guess work. Can use on your sewing machine too.

    Should all the lines on the tension screws be pointing same way or does that matter?

    Tension is a headache!
    Most videos say flush the top tension with the inner screw, and adjust bobbin tension to 150~225 depending on the fabric
    Well, tried it! And broke 5 needles!
    Turns out the top tension was the issue, I needed to loosen it all the way to almost removing the entire screw, that was the sweet spot.
    Take home message, bobbin case should be around 150~225 after that forget about the bobbin case, and only adjust the top tension until you find the good spot. Took few hours of frustration and googling to understand this.

      Get yourself a bobbin thread tension gauge. It is a must. Otherwise it will be a trial and error until you adjust the tension.
      Just get the gauge, and now you are left with the upper tension. This will give you one variable to adjust rather than two variables, which will cause frustration for new embroiders.

      How much is it? is it used? What are you looking to do? Are you already an embroiderer, or are you looking to just get started? I love their fast-fix videos.... save me a lot of headaches on my Melco machine, for sure!

      i am in the biz looking to get all new equipment love SWF but the price is crazy now,i need another four head i am willing to get two doubles and one single for hats if it does a good job would like to see one up close and personal 4 myself. will be in las vegas this wkend if there is one has one in that area

      Emanuel Colon I feel ya. Melco won't even post their prices on equipment. I think it's because it is so much higher than others. am thinking of finding a Brother or Elna machine, as the price is a third of Melco pricing.. But, i'll keep my Melco single-head running. It is a true workhorse!

      what do you think of this REDLINE machine,it is low but is it going to give you problems

    • @AnnesEmbroidery
      @AnnesEmbroidery 7 років тому

      Emanuel Colon I wouldn't know. It seems to have a lot of mechanical functions, (rather than computerized, so it may last longer than some of the newer machines.
      It's like old cars vs. new cars. On the newer cars, if the computer goes out, you're done. On older cars, you can easily replace parts...
      so i was interested in the Redline for this reason. And it seems similar to the (very old) melco Mel-star... Or the SWF machines from about 25 - 30 years back. There is nothing wrong with older machines, as long as the motors stay in good shape!
