my father was the lead flight control engineer on the F-16 when it was first being designed and for quite a few years after that until his retirement then he only lived to be 73 and died . He would love to see this plane fly thank you
Okay kids, this is why you don't fly six and a half minutes almost on a 6s 5000 with an 80 mm EDF lol. Just a disclaimer for anyone new to the hobby. This is an awesome family and one of my favorite UA-cam channels Hands Down!!! but,.... There is zero wrong with this aircraft. This was completely just pilot error which is totally normal with a new jet. You get distracted being excited about it then wanting to fly it as long as possible but then also needing some more times around to set up a landing than you planned on etc... And maybe your timing is off because you're used to flying prop planes a lot.... and boom there you go! 6 1/2 minutes when you should have flown 3.5 to 4. There's no confusion there. any EDF aircraft on the market for the most part will do this if you try to fly it that long. Thought I'd be the bad guy just to be fair to the aircraft. :/

I think you did great. Not only that, but everyone should realize that crashes are a part of this hobby and it's great that you cover that. Otherwise people will get discouraged. That happened to a friend I had, he never flew a plane again.
Smart G2 power system is awesome and real time telemetry readings to the radio is sweet. 5-6 minute flight times is still pushing it. 4 1/2 minutes max. Beautiful scale F-16…great job E-Flite!
In my teen years, I built a model of the F-16. So I know the lines and feel of the fuselage, and that net jet of yours is spot on. In real life, the F-16 is a much more maneuverable jet than the F/A-18, which was what the Blue Angles jet you have is. Thus it would make sense that scale models would also exhibit the same biases. If one was to use a North American Football analogy, the F-16 is like a half-back, fleet, able to dodge tacklers, while the F/A-18 is more of a full-back who rather than running around tacklers, just runs over them.
A little hot glue. Get some "Foam filler" to smooth out the resulting seam....and. you can probably find a felt tip marker that is close enough to the grey color to touch it up. And you won't be able to see it on your chase shots. You can do it! Maybe a video on such a repair (as something completely different?)?
it's like the first scratch on a new car. After it's done you don't have to be so uptight about it anymore and the fun factor just increases :-) she will be back in the air with just a few minutes of care. Good save dude!

@@TheRcSaylors just a guess here, the pack with the bad sag, was it your maiden pack? I gotta get a channel to get all these goodies. I was an F-16 mechanic and attention to detail on this jet is amazing. Collor markings on the sidewinders and centerline tank are dead on. Only thing off is LED lights, but that's nitpicking. Beautiful EDF.

I was out riding the motorcycle one day and I noticed a jet flying doing loops and rolls over some farm land ! I thought someone was flying an RC ! but it was a real jet ! cool !
Beautiful flying and a great save! I watched Brian's video on the f16 and he ditched it a few times on landings and broke the front landing gear! But he also added that approximately 3 1/2 mins and you better bring her down! Love to see Abby take her for a spin! Marty from Canada 🇨🇦🛩🛩
Nah, 3 and a half minutes means you are flying on junk batteries. Clesrly it'll push nearly seven minutes. I'll probably stick to five minutes on a 5000 mah battery moving forward 😉👍😁😎⚓
Marty - FYI, we were using the EXACT same lipo as Nate in his maiden, which was a brand new Spektrum 5000mAh 6S 30C G2 SMART pack, charged on a Spektrum G2 SMART Charger, straight from Eflite. This was also the same pack we used for two more of the four flights. My "Crash" landing was on a 7000mAh 6S 30C G2 Pack where I didn't get the CG quite right, thus ran out of elevator, and "landed" early - LOL. I assume Nate hasn't seen our footage, so he may not be aware that when you say "ditched", you mean we rolled off the end of the runway...and hit grass clumps, which in turn bent the wheel shaft ONLY at the end of the yoke, due to our still excessive speed. We demonstrated a difficulty in our environment, but showcased the strength of the retracts on this great plane. With a 1/2 mile long, and probably 150-200 feet runway, there's little to no excuse for missing on landing. We're landing on a 10-12 foot wide by 180 feet long paved runway, IE, an aircraft carrier by comparison...hardly the same situation...Nate's flight was in SAFE for about 3.5-4.5 minutes, with about 30 seconds to 1 minute of AS3X only so he could roll the plane twice. There's just not much energy being consumed in a flat, level, SAFE flight circuit, compared to our constant climbouts and aerobatic maneuvers, with several full throttle low passes. We believe our flights better represents what our audience might actually do with this F-16. If you NEED SAFE to fly it, this plane isn't for you. What you have to keep in mind, is that Nate and I are two differently skilled RC enthusiasts, and while we have much respect for the positive things that Abby and Nate have done for our hobby, and we congratulate them on their such success on UA-cam, we will occasionally disagree on the finer details of even the exact same aircraft & battery combos. This shouldn't take away from the quality of the aircraft that we both enjoy. Obviously, we're all competitive here on UA-cam, but I'd like to think Nate wouldn't go out of his way to disparage our positions, no matter how clearly we back them up. I think it's just a difference in specialties, in this case. They've been doing this for a couple years longer, and have more subscribers, but we specialize in planes, while they specialize in cars. They're different skills, and require lots of time and effort to master. We all want to grow this hobby, and promote products that bring value to our audience, but we don't have to agree. We don't have to both be at the same skill level either, to share a wonderful product. @ 9:30 (Timer Elapsed) 3.5 Minutes Flight @ 10:54 Crash @ 5.0 Minutes I hope Nate checks my math, so he can keep flying this beautiful plane. Timer at 3.5 to 4 minutes would be great! Especially when he starts flying out of SAFE.

Out of all the RC stuff I have had the pleasure to drive/ sail / fly, Jets are the final frontier. I still catch my self looking on Google Earth trying to find a place to land these things close by. My current location is a high school and is mainly grass. It does have a paved area but is more like landing on a aircraft carrier / only a small space to use due to speed bumps. I do enjoy the jet videos though!
Sweet plane!! Fun Flight!! Sometimes you can detect/feel when the throttle starts to get "soft" and it needs to come in for a landing. Been there, done that. Glad the plane can fly again. Just dial back your timer a tad.
Great Video! I just would echo others and recommend shorter maidens. I typically set the timer for 3 mins for the first couple flights (as wells as monitoring pack voltage through telemetry) on all EDF's and when the timers goes, i get it down. Then check pack levels and start adjusting flight times as i get a feel for the plane and battery combo's. Keep the videos coming!!
Looked so real flying into the orange sunset. Beautiful aircraft, nice save on the emergency landing. Easy fix looking forward to seeing more of that jet . Very cool . Thanks so much for sharing stay safe be happy out there ❤😎
Pushing the "time" limit with new jet?? Oohh my goodness!! I'm very glad you made it down safely. This should be a easy fix. Telemetry is a great thing, but trust what you know first. Another great video Saylors. Beginning was funny wonderful. AirHammer out!!
I totally get it! If you can consistently get 4 1/2 minutes on that thing, you are crushing it. Looking forward to seeing this one fly again - get Abby on it!
*great job on the save though Nate!! we all get distracted a little with a new jet. I've done it myself several times..... But have not been able to save the landing that well so kudos to that Sir!! 💪😎🤙
Nate, as much as you like flying, and i'll admit, this one sounds very realistic, and it is beyond cool looking, (no iron eagle flight music, for shame), without having to deal with the fuel. you really need to get a real gas jet plane, i'd love to see your happiness with one of those that had a massively overpowered engine and was built for stunts.
Just ordered one on the strength of this and other reviews- Thank you. It will be my first EDF so it will be with some trepidation; but you humble approach and advice is inspiring - and of course the beauty of this model from Eflite.
Thanks for posting this. I’ve recently got into the world of RC with my son and I am enjoying your videos immensely. Every time you post a new video, I say to myself, there’s another one I have to buy. Keep up the great work!
Neat jet, sound was awesome. A bit too much apologizing for the rough landing. On the one hand stuff happens and it's good to see it happening to experienced people. That way when I eventually start I won't feel so bad flying my new toy into the ground. It's not like it was such a spectacular crash that you had to spend half an hour picking up the pieces. On the other hand I know it's gotta hurt anyway. Thanks for the video.
LOL!! As an experience pilot with edf's, Nate, you should have known that you were flying way too long with this edf jet!! 2min; 30sec is the rule of thumb starting point of flying time with EDF jets. You were flying way past that. (10:42)
Cant wait to start getting the RC Plane hobby!. I plan to start in the summer with a Sport Club S2 RTF and hopefully work my way up to this beautiful warbird !
Very truthful maiden. I've heard that you need to respect the 3 minute rule with this one. On the other hand. It's beautiful and I wouldn't want to land so soon either. Nice to see the landing gear held up to the rough landing. Nice job saylors. Buck up and get a nose for it 👍👍😎👊✌
2nd time watching this. I had the Blessing of watching BOTH the Blue Angels AND Thunderbirds live in Kansas City on July 3rd. F-18 and F-16 are my favorite modern jets (A-10 is close behind). If E-flight comes out with a F-18 at this scale....I'll never be able to afford the retirement home :-) It does look amazing in the air.
I’d sure like to see the Blue Angels and Fat Albert C130. Maybe next July! The Thunderbirds came to the Springfield Airport 35 years ago during the Firefall Fireworks display.
It looks like the fms 70mm f16 which flies amazingly. Full stabs is amazing. Even though it has cheaters, it helps with stall characteristics and cant be seen in air. Probably will have to get this one too. Draco will deliver in june.
If you're using a smart pack, check the low voltage settings on it. You can do this with a Spektrum Xbc-100. I haven't messed with any of mine but I think they're set from factory at 3.3 per cell mostly but have seen one of mine at 3.8 and that would cause the battery to shutdown early I believe. I not entirely sure on all this, but this is what I understand at the time.
I'm going to have to look at the settings on this particular battery for sure. I don't want that to ever happen again on this beauty!! Goofy me, just relied too heavily on technology and didn't listen to my gut. Comes in handy, but it is always good to listen to your gut first.
Wow that looks and sounds awesome I just dream of flying something like that it truly astonishes me what people are doing now with RC it blows my mind.
Lol “crash”. That’s a amazing landing in my books.😁 Anytime you can fly it again that’s a success! Being a self taught pilot in the 80’s with an Electra and being flying on and off over the years, I’m really glad to have watch your videos and get back into it. The new safe tech is sooo awesome for learning. I’m now up to 6 planes again including my first jet(viper) and loving it with only 2 minor landing mishaps. Love the videos and honesty. Keep em coming. I only have a grass field but I might need this one in my collection.🥰
Very nice looking jet. Nice flying, though for a grass crash the nose seemed to come off to easily ❓❓ wonder if they used the Best foam vs the good/fairly good foam. There are degrees of different foams. No maybe's Abby you must Fly this. Good thing I hit the like button BEFORE I saw your intro Nate 😳😵😁😏. Ready for flight # 2 by Abby Aviator Saylor. 😉😉.⚓⚓👍💗👍❣👍⚓⚓.

The radio started plying Danger Zone right when I was watching this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Haha, that is so awesome!! 😎😎😎⚓
0:26 I love this 🤣
You guys are both so cool .God bless
Can’t wait to get one
Pushing the "time" limit with new jet?? Oohh my goodness!! I'm very glad you made it down safely. This should be a easy fix. Telemetry is a great thing, but trust what you know first. Another great video Saylors. Beginning was funny wonderful. AirHammer out!!
Just finished viewing HH release video... You guys have got to get that optional LED after burner simulator and give us a night flight.
This maiden flight is as real as it gets! Great job.
Man, that thing looks and sounds great in the air. I'm not even going to comment on going 6 minutes on a maiden of an 80mm EDF....
Too focused on having fun to worry about something as trivial as time!! 🤣😂⚓
I totally get it! If you can consistently get 4 1/2 minutes on that thing, you are crushing it. Looking forward to seeing this one fly again - get Abby on it!
Thank You for a true and beautiful maiden😃 Stay safe, love from Norway!
Love your honesty and showing the real nature of the hobby. Great video as always guys, thanks, look forward to more F16 videos 👍🏼
That's cool
Sweeeeeeet!!! My next purchase was gonna be an A-10.,, NOT ANYMORE!
This plane is AWESOME
*great job on the save though Nate!!
we all get distracted a little with a new jet. I've done it myself several times..... But have not been able to save the landing that well so kudos to that Sir!!
💪😎🤙
great video you to make look so easy.love the look of the plane.nice time of day to fly.its going to look great with drone chase.
How did it go for ya?
@@tyfude I took the prudent approach and been flying a Viper 70 and a Meteor to get some jet stick time first.
@@27niner Smart. Those are great planes. I did the same only with the FMS Yak and BAE Hawk. My F-16 is OTW 😀
Nice job... but boy... I don't have your good eyes to see that deep into the evening dusk... very nice job Nate !!
Nice save !
Thanks for posting this. I’ve recently got into the world of RC with my son and I am enjoying your videos immensely. Every time you post a new video, I say to myself, there’s another one I have to buy. Keep up the great work!
That thing is awesome
100% Agreed!
💯👍😁😎⚓
I really appreciate your transparency in this video. This is real RC!
🙋♂️ Abby and Nate could you do more flights with this amazing jet
Always leave yourself enough time for emergency when flying a EDF :)
Late squad today happy flying all 😎😎😎⚓️⚓️⚓️⚓️⚓️⚓️
Holy cow....Nate....that does sound good.
Oh I know. The fun overtook reality! Just another reminder that I am human. Turns out, we humans make mistakes! Who knew!? 🤷♂️⚓
@@TheRcSaylors cute😋
Nice jet
You did good, don’t feel bad, thanks a lot
Thanks! 👍😁😎⚓
Naw Nate, that was NIIIIIIIIIIIICE! 😁👍
Thanks for the link and video! Pre ordered mine. So excited!! You two ROCK!
Bradley, You Rock! Thanks for supporting our channel and family 👪 Please let me know how your maiden goes! 👍😁😎⚓
Good Maiden , little boiling water will help that foam come back out to form on that nose. Great video lights are awesome.
This is just amazing
Cant wait to start getting the RC Plane hobby!. I plan to start in the summer with a Sport Club S2 RTF and hopefully work my way up to this beautiful warbird !
You said it all AWESOME 👌
Well done 👍. Mine was delivered today. Can’t wait to maiden it.
Very awesome!! 👍😁😎⚓
Very Cool, That Sounds So Awesome.
Very truthful maiden. I've heard that you need to respect the 3 minute rule with this one. On the other hand. It's beautiful and I wouldn't want to land so soon either. Nice to see the landing gear held up to the rough landing. Nice job saylors. Buck up and get a nose for it 👍👍😎👊✌
Thanks! I couldn't resist flying this again, so we plan on having a follow up on this again this evening! 👍😁😎⚓
That's freaking awesome
👍😁😎⚓
@@TheRcSaylors definitely.what a good looking and Sounding jet.
This is a gorgeous plane! It’s amazing! I wish I had skills to fly it. Just like u say worth every penny. Thank you for sharing!
The f14 and the p51 mustang I think are the best looking fighter planes.
If you ain't crashing you ain't flying lol good save beautiful plane
Super nice emergency landing!! Perhaps change the low battery warning to a shorter time!
Wow that looks and sounds awesome I just dream of flying something like that it truly astonishes me what people are doing now with RC it blows my mind.
Yeah we are right there with you! Such an awesome hobby! Happy Flying 👍😁😎⚓
6 mins on an 80mm edf with 5000mah! Good recovery, love the F16, wheels are too small for my lumpy grass runway though unfortunately.
Yeah.. Fun > Concern of trivial things like time 🤣😂 Love this jet! Gonna fly it again super soon I hope! 👍😎⚓
I have been missing the planes 🥶💖
O My Gosh. i never made 3 comments but this thing is amazing the sound is super. so realistic fantastic product xx
I wish my flying club had a paved runway so I could have a bad ass EDF.
Great reply and my sentiments exactly from Oz
Very nice looking jet. Nice flying, though for a grass crash the nose seemed to come off to easily ❓❓ wonder if they used the Best foam vs the good/fairly good foam. There are degrees of different foams. No maybe's Abby you must Fly this. Good thing I hit the like button BEFORE I saw your intro Nate 😳😵😁😏. Ready for flight # 2 by Abby Aviator Saylor. 😉😉.⚓⚓👍💗👍❣👍⚓⚓.
Great job ❤️
Thanks Glen! 👍😁😎⚓
It is a beautiful huge jet! The sound was awesome! Nice fly!
