    I have watched all 5 episodes in this series, one after the other, simply enthralled by witnessing a true master at work not only in meticulous execution, but in detailed explanation. Mr. Lowe: "Chapeau"!

    Wow Phil I watched 5 in a row. Have never done woodworking before but learnt so much regarding grain and how to cut and use chisels. Thank you for the time and effort.

    Great series Phil. That last part about compound angles reminded me of the center post in the roof of the gazebo I built 30 years ago.

    These are the types of guys you want to learn from. They will save you years of messing around with things that either don't work or are inefficient and not necessary. With squaring the first board, the first thing that I thought of was -all those planes and not one with an 90 degree fence to use? Anyway, great video.

    How about instead of, "glueing" "different glue joints"? For whomever is maintaining this channel. I nearly passed it by due to being absolutely disinterested in glue. The vid however, is solid gold and packed with useful information!

    Thanks Mr Lowe, you jogged my memory with your demonstration of bisecting angles with dividers.I was taught that method at college 30 odd years ago, but haven't practiced the technique much since. Geometry eh?

    7:36 I'm not sure if that shows what you say it does. It broke at the end of the clamp, which is also the axis of rotation of the force you are putting on it. Even if you assume the board is equally strong throughout and doesn't have any weak spots, the glue joint could be equally strong (or even weaker?) than the wood and the board could still break at that point where it did.

    Моё мнение две доски строгать вместе не самое правильное Если в одном ямочка то и во втором и при стыковке гель удваивается

    My dad was cabinet maker and he always said a joint would break in the wood before the glue joint would break. I shared this wisdom from a very early age in my process of becoming a wood worker. I'd have buddies come to me and say "F" you I fixed this with glue and it broke at the glue joint. back then all my old buddies lived close so I could go see wtf they were going on about. lol. They would take a a piece of chipboard "Walmart furniture and try and glue it HAHHAHA. I would tell them then I meant my statement for wood. Not the byproduct of sawing wood lol. My bro inlaw was one of those characters. He has about $750,000 of hand made furniture in his home now and it cost him a Browning A5 shotgun lol....THINK I GOT RIPPED OFF lol. but i love that fucker more than the sis he married....mmm not sure if i should of said that HHAAHAHAHAHA

    How do you adjust the length of the board and match them like frame after all those of shavings? How they fit perfectly?

  • @pointer2null
    @pointer2null 6 років тому +2

    Brilliant - though if I tried that my picture frame would end up 2" per side and trapezoid ...

    • @bonnivilleblackcherry9745
      @bonnivilleblackcherry9745 6 років тому +1

      Just a suggestion on making a picture frame. Buy a empire combo square. They are very accurate and pretty much 1/4 of the price of a usual accurate square. If you are building a house being square don't matter much until you get into trim work. so a $25 square from a box store will do what is needed. But once you get into actually needing your cuts square you need to spend a bit of coin. My rough squares are within .025-35 per inch (cares less about them) my wood working squares are withinin .001 or per inch. Even if you make a 3 inch wide frame thats 0.003 of an inch., .0.00314961 is an average human hair...noboy sees that shit unless its a very certain angle of light hitting it. When you clam down your corners it reduces the gap and your framing staples will draw it in and hold it.

    Why not make sure that you are truly saved by Jesus Christ and practice this way. Remorsefully confess with your heart your sins to Jesus Christ who is God and tell Him that you right now are repenting of your sins and you want to be born again of the Spirit from above. Tell Jesus that you are remorsefully sorry for breaking His commandments and that you are begging for forgiveness from Him. Allow His blood from the cross to wash away your sins. After this is done with your heart successfully the Holy Spirit will come to live within you and He will rebuild you from the inside out.
    Look for signs that you are saved. Things like spreading the good news from Jesus, getting other people saved, a craving for the word of God, reading the Bible, etc… These things are known as a calling and fruit bearing. If you're not bearing fruit then keep doing it. Sometimes it takes time to get saved. Read Matthew chapter 13 from the King James Bible. God bless!!!

      He is dividing the 45° angle into two equal parts of 22.5° each. Not by measuring or with a protractor, but using geometry 101 ;)
      Works for any angle.
      He did the same around 34:00 minutes ...
      Cheers
