    I only really considered getting a Polaroid the other day. Thought I'd check out a review, yours was the first I watched. You've absolutely sold me on this camera. I'm glad to know that it's easy for new users, seeing as this'll be my first time trying out analog photography. Awesome video, and stay safe

    I think the Polaroid cameras are going to prove to be a great starting point for photography. Ted Forbes from The Art of Photography said that if you can take good pictures with cameras that have nothing but limitations to what they can do (like a box camera, for instance) then getting good pictures on just about any other kind of camera will be a cinch.

    Loved the review! I've been sniffing around the idea of polaroid for awhile now, my best friends and I all have Japanese project cars from the 80's and 90's that we drive to car meets and whatnot. I have always loved the polaroid pictures from Japanese car meets from the 80's and 90's, I want to take similar pictures with my friends and I's cars. I've been looking around for a week now and I think this review really got me sold on this camera. Thank you! :D

    Thanks so much for the review. I received my orange Polaroid Now yesterday and I've ordered i-type film for it. I can't wait to try it out. Thanks so much for the tip on holding the shutter button down half way to focus. That's not mentioned in the instructions. I've got 3 vintage Polaroids that run on 600 film and I agree with you - there's nothing like hearing the shutter click and then the motor spitting out an actual photo.

    I just ordered one last night and I was already having regrets about my purchase because of the several low reviews i read before watching this. This review really gave a better perspective of what I'm getting and a complete turnaround of my expectations. Now I'm more excited than before. Hope i get mine soon. I've always wanted a polaroid cam since college and that was almost 10 years ago. I'm finally gonna be able to cross this one out of my bucket list. Thank you.

    I’m having trouble deciding between this and the Fuji film sq6. I like the clear high quality pictures the sq6 produces, but like the size of picture the OG Polaroid. I can’t find a comparison between these two specific models, so which would you recommend? Is the quality that different?

    • @NReluctant
      @NReluctant  3 роки тому +1

      It is definitely a tough decision to make, Fuji doesn’t look like they were ever going to offer the same size as Polaroid, I personally think it has to do with the fact the Polaroid has the rights to produce that specific size. The Fuji is going to be more clear, but the Polaroid is going to give you more of a Polaroid look as well as the original size. Ultimately it comes down to what you prefer. I can say that the Polaroid Now has the best picture quality out of any Polaroid I have used recently, in my personal opinion.

    Great review, very insightful for a first time buyer like me! Question though. Did you use the double exposure feature to get the blurriness effect for the photo of you in the mirror or was that an accident?? I just love how that photo came out!

    • @NReluctant
      @NReluctant  3 роки тому +3

    PLEASE HELP. When you insert a new packed of film, does the darkslide automatically come out, or do you have to take a photo. As when I tried this I was confused as it looked like in your video it does that automatically. But when I did mine, a line came on the count and nothing happened and I was confused. I had to take a picture for it to come out, and when I did the counter changed to 8. But before that I tried to pull out the film and try again, but the film got stuck and i couldn't get it out.

    • @NReluctant
      @NReluctant  2 роки тому

    Hi! My grandfather just got himself a Polaroid Now, because he misses using his old Polaroid. He was talking me that the film looks “dark.” I saw them, and they look a little dark, almost a blue tint. How should I help him?

    • @NReluctant
      @NReluctant  3 роки тому +2

      There are A few things that he can try. Make sure that when the film comes out of the camera that he puts it somewhere dark and flat for it to develop for about 10 to 15 minutes. Also, I know the old phrase is shake it like a Polaroid, but don’t shake this film because it could actually mess up the chemical development process. Aside from that make sure that the film he purchased is not expired and with indoor photos make sure to have the flash turned on unless something is well lit. Hope this helps! 🙂

    • @NReluctant

      If it spit out the black film cover then it should work normally now. There is a protective film that comes out first. You can take the film out and re-insert it but the film on the bottom will probably come out with no picture because they are very light sensitive. However if it’s an issue of inserting it incorrectly this may help. Keep in mind that it does take about 10 minutes for the film to show your picture.

      @@NReluctant Thank you! I definitely will do. We've been looking at the Instax Mini 11 for her. She's been getting into shooting videos and taking pictures on her hand-me-down iPad Air 2, which is on its last legs, (really bad ghost touch issue,) and I know she'll go nuts over having her own little pictures printing out, even if she does go through the film like crazy. I know that, when I was a kid, I wasted film in SO many disposable cameras, but this ought to help her learn to take pictures carefully ... eventually.
      She's very careful with electronics, (she's had her iPad for years and it's held up,) so I think she can be trusted with an Instax.
      Also, my parents have older, 2009, cameras, a Samsung 10 MP and a Kodak, we might hand down as well. The Samsung is still great for pictures, the Kodak for videos, so we should have all bases covered! Giving her an Instax plus some much older, gently used cameras to toy with makes more sense than spending $150+ on a camera she might not get into. If she gets into photagraphy and filming like she has with her iPad, we can look into maybe getting her something new and digital next year. Anyway, thanks for the vid! I'll check out your others!

      Did you ever find out if it was a fault in the camera? Or did you return it? Mine are all coming out almost black too but Polaroid support have said it’s just because I’m not taking them in bright enough settings. So far the only pics that have come out any good have been in direct sunlight 🥴 I’m going to return it and probably buy the square instax one. Unless you had any luck with a new Polaroid one model?

    • @NReluctant
      @NReluctant  3 роки тому

      That’s actually a pretty common myth, these will develop better if you don’t shake them and you keep them out of direct light for at least 10 minutes or so after it comes out of the camera. 😁

      This is from Polaroid, “Press the self-timer button twice to enable double exposure mode. The display will flash ‘1’ until the first shot is taken, then flash ‘2’ until the second shot is taken.”
