    I bought a pair of these and they were so good that I immediately bought 3 more pairs! It has been incredibly difficult to find comfortable shoes in my adulthood years, these are the ones that are truly comfortable! My feet are not hurting any more.

    I first went with the Dovre Wide but they were a little bit too stiff for me, so I changed them to more cushioned Island Wide. The Islands are almost the same as Gufferts. I do long hikes and I like more cushioning around the ankle and heel. They're excellent once they are worn in.

      @@woodsmansfinest3814 I added some Meindl Sports Wax to the nubuck finish of the Islands and now they have this "Dovre-like" leather. Really like the look and waxed finish.

    I stumbled upon your channel to find out about Miendl boots as my son bought a pair while in England. Watched some of your other videos and learnt something new.
    It is amazing to learn how our lives are markedly different. I wish my children can live so freely. BTW liked and subscribed. Best wishes from Singapore

    I am satisfied with Alpina Ladakh classic. There is no goretex, leather inside, out. Impregnated with the mixture of linseed oil and beeswax. No need for rubber protection, although they have got model with rubber. I could purchase it at lokal outlet for 100€!, for years.
    As a traditional Bavarian, traditional craftsman, You must aquire Bertl boots, classic, that are what Meindel before was.

      Those boots (Bertl) look like heritage, not hiking/mountaineering. Totally different category.

    Servus! What would you say is a better boot for the swedish mountains in summer? The Dovre or the Guffert? Is there a big difference in the sole cushioning? :) Thank you for the video!

    • @woodsmansfinest3814
      @woodsmansfinest3814  Рік тому +1

      Same sole, similar cushioning. For rocking terrain in summer I love the Dovre. Guffert got more insulation. If you do muskeg and mossy areas you need gaitors for sure on both or get the Dovre Extreme, which I'd recommend for an Allround Scandinavia boot.

    This is the most well produced and alethically pleasing boot review I've ever seen. Subscribed. 😆
    I too have wide splayed feet from a life of barefoot and minimalist shoes. These could be the boots I've been searching for. Thanks.

    I really enjoyed your video. You make everything seem so easy in a really relaxing way. Does the technique you use when you carve the wood to start a fire have a name? I have tried to do it but couldn't get it right. Maybe I used too dried wood?

    Meindl is in the tope of the line boots brand, with Hanwag being the best. Tatra II with a better insole and a proper pair of socks, is like riding a new Mercedes. I guess those Meindl feel similar!!

    • @woodsmansfinest3814
      @woodsmansfinest3814  Рік тому

      I wouldn't say hanwag is better... They are extremely similar. Their top line is German made. Vibram sole. I need a wide forefoot so the Meindls are my choice but hanwags is also wide so I'll try some sometimes. Cheers

      @@woodsmansfinest3814Meindl used to be a lot better, what you say was true at some point, but it's some years now that they have a lot of quallity issues, like the soles come with poor glue, to the point the boots fall apart after little use. (That was the most often issue reported) Hanwag and Lowa are the Mercedes and the BMW of the boot world, Meindl used to be Audi, but now it's Opel at best! lol. If you know about German cars, you'll get the picture!
      Hanwag have both half sizes, as also wide and Bunion versions of each size they produce. No matter what kind of feet you have you'll find the perfect fit!!
      Hanwag Tatra II (Full leather, without Goretex) and Lowa Zephyr are the best boots I ever had, Meindl Bhutan, was really good too, just not as good as the other 2 I mentioned.

    • @woodsmansfinest3814
      @woodsmansfinest3814  Рік тому +1

      @@greekveteran2715 Personal opinion. I've had more Lowa fall apart on me and my friends than any other boot I've seen. Been using the Dovre and Guffert for 3 years daily in Northern Ontario, hunting, hiking and thought bogs and long distances in Sweden. The soles aren't even close to being done. Goretex has held up perfectly. No stitches broke etc. I've never heard or had issues with Meindl. I get feedback on my social media from people around the world who have these boots and wouldn't buy any others. All I am saying is that there is no number 1. All companies get bad feedback and rarely is it really deserved! One person isn't quite able to longterm test many brands and models. To each their own.

    • @greekveteran2715
      @greekveteran2715 Рік тому +1

      @@woodsmansfinest3814 Then that means, that only Hanwag don't fall apart! Lowa is the most popular of the 3, and quality always goes down the more the quantity goes up..Same happened with Danner and Salomon! I forgot to mention the AKU, which is right next to those great boot makers!

    • @earlofcockwood1988

      @@greekveteran2715 I have my Meindl in extensive use for 2 years now. 2 Times a week hiking and 3d shooting. I have never seen one fail. But I have seen two pairs of Hanwag fail on tournaments. One brand new on a 40 degree Celsius Summerday and one older pair in winter….. so this is 0:2 Meindl. Hanwag isn’t what it once was.

    I bought a pair of Meindl LitePeak GTX in 2017 - € 227. Very comfortable at first provided I carried no more than a 30L day pack with very little weight. I weigh 95kilos for 1m79 height. In 2018 I then walked the Tour des Dents du Midi in Switzerland - 4 days with a 55L pack and the boots practically broke down, lost shape, lost side support. The sole was not strong enough at size 45/46 to take the strain. The back heel in that short time made the boots uncomfortable to wear thereafter and eventually they were binned. Perhaps I should have done more research; perhaps the boots sales person should have, or Meindl given more advice, training AND sold the boots with a « weight of wearer declaration ». Either way, I did not get value for money. End 2019 I bought a pair of MILLET BOUTHAN GTX € 205 - very similar style to those you review. These are wide fit, give support and comfortable leather boots. They knock Meindl off the scale. Never will I buy Meindl again. If anyone ever asks me, and in our large (mountain) walking club many do, I always advise against Meindl as a complete waste of money. Other wise I enjoy your videos, but promotion of products? Buyers beware.

      So basically you used a speed shoe at the upper weight limit, or in other words you have one bad experience with one model 6 years ago and therefore the entire brand is crap? Very professional stance. If we all judged that way there would be no brands around anymore.

      Welllll.... Seeing as they are advertised as, well, you know, LITE peak ... Jeez I wonder what that means... Hmmmm the blurb says day bushwalking with UP TO a 20kg pack.... Damn it I'll lug around a 55 lite pack for a week no wuckin furries. What could possibly go wrong
