Covid curbs continue to restrict press access to parliament. What’s at stake?

Over the last four years, several journalist bodies and opposition parties have been demanding that media persons be allowed to cover parliamentary proceedings.
The restrictions imposed on media access to the House during the Covid-19 pandemic have not yet been completely lifted. Journalists said that at present, access is granted in an “arbitrary” manner and only to a few.
Newslaundry spoke to reporters, representatives of journalist bodies, and MPs to understand what is at stake.
Officials of the Press Club of India said that the restriction “obstructs the democratic exchange of ideas, limits public discourse, and weakens accountability and transparency of the parliamentary system”. Meanwhile, Congress leader Manickam Tagore said that the “continued enforcement of these restrictions is adversely impacting the free and fair coverage of parliamentary proceedings”.

UA-cam is an Ad company. Their algorithm pushes videos that are more Ad friendly, if they start pushing videos that don't take any Ads then their whole business model will crumble.

The mainstream journalists act like paid stooges of the BJP/RSS with the exception of the digital/youtube journalists such as Newslaundry and others. It's amazing how the media in India is either not conscious of its serious responsibility of holding those in power accountable or too cowed down by the BJP. Keep up the great job Newslaundry !

@NEWSLAUNDRY please raise the issue that why so still Indian Army using that old vehicles ,with open roof in highly volatile area where there is always chances of ambush.....Still why?? using that vehicle for search operation,,,,,why so ??? . Our soldiers are valuable asset to the nation we need to raise voice ..politicians with no threat using advanced vehicle and soldiers in front of highly risk prone area unable to find shield to protect themselves from bullet....why so??????
