- Sue Gray's resignation might have come as a surprise to some but as rumours swirled about mounting hostility towards her inside Number 10, her departure was inevitable. So, what will her exit mean for Keir Starmer? And what does the latest shake up in No 10 reveal about the mood behind the scenes?
And, 12 months on from the 7th October attacks in Israel, we ask whether we're any closer to peace in the Middle East?

Too much integrity in Sue Gray. She obviously had to go.
So politics over integrity. That is the name of the game, whichever party is in power.
All the while it is thus, the country goes to ruin, trust in public life is further eroded and productivity decreases.
Britain in the 21st century.
Noone needed Sue Gray to see Johnsons role in partygate, there were literally photographs of him drinking wine at gatherings.
Are you serious.
Also the privileges committee deliberately didn't use any of Gray's findings when carrying out their own investigation. And they still found that he'd done everything suggested, and a bit more.
There was a photo of beer Kier.
@@johnmurray5573 So what? He didnt set the rules, Bojo did
@@johnmurray5573 Great example. As with the gifts recently. The Tories do something illegal. Then Labour do something that looks slightly similar but isn’t illegal, and the press make an equivalence.
My MP is Ian Murray (I'm in Edinburgh) he represents me at Westminster. He is also Secretary of State for Scotland with a big posh office next to Waverley station and another in London - both with staff. He sits at the cabinet table with Keir Starmer every week when parliament is sitting. What a farce then to have an "envoy" to the nation of Scotland! Presumably Sue Gray's new role can only be to undermine Murray's job along with the roles of the Welsh and Northern Ireland secretaries. Personally I'd be quite happy if we were independent of you lot in London and you really did send an ambassador (the building by Waverley would make a nice embassy) but as it appears to be the will of my fellow citizens that we remain part of the UK it would be nice if we were treated as if we were in the same country rather than some colony. Maybe this episode will help move a few more of my countrymen more to my way of thinking!
The Scotch have always been the moral compass of the Labour Party and of the UK as a whole
@@Crouchy232323 scotch is a drink, bawbag
@@Crouchy232323Scotch is a drink nothing else. Not people nor a nation. We are Scots or Scot0 and our home is Scotland.
@@therealrobertbirchall it is plural, actually. 1 Scot many Scotch
@@Crouchy232323 actually how can a singular noun ie Scotch become plural. Next time you are in the land of the gods. I challenge you to call the people 'Scotch'. The plural of Scotch a drink is Scottish which can be Scottish whisky os a Scottish person. I know 'English' is a difficult language which is not properly taught in England of all places.
The media making a dogs dinner out bones and scraps maybe
100% this. Have a look on news forums in places like Reddit and the same non-stories are being peddled with such voracity it can only be deliberate in its intention to rile people about nothing and make mountains from molehills. I wonder if it is the business of news or the business of propaganda or a rabid mix of both perpetuating this unhealthy nonsense. It gets people riled up and the unsettled feeling we have as a nation continues, all for a few bob for the journos and their bosses.
I like that Starmer saw the writing on the wall and took the decision early regarding Sue Gray.
It hasn't fallen apart, bit of a hyperbolic headline.
"What about Syria? What about Sudan?" One of the under-covered casualties in this war has been the rationality of otherwise respectable scholars like Montefiore and Schama.
Yes Prof. Montefiore, we were startled decades ago when Al Qaeda called us "Crusaders". Yet that underlying attitude is exactly what has conditioned our actions since Sykes Picot at the very latest.
While Nero fiddled Rome burnt. This should be the metaphor for our modern political class. Both main parties are more interested with Machavaillian infighting rather than effectively governing. It is ridiculous. They do not attempt to change this failing economic system which simply feeds off the vast majority of us. If we ever end up with some far right extremists in power it's these morons who will be to blame. Labour has failed the working class and it wouldn't surprise me if they desert the party at the next election, probably voting reform as. I certainly will not vote Labour because they appear Conservative light
It can not be a surprise to anyone that Hamas would say on the anniversary of their attack on Israel that they would do it all over again.
Has anything happened that would make them see Israel in a better light.
The attack happened because the Israeli government and military were asleep on the job. Netanyahu was caught with his pants down and Hamas exploited this. And of course the longer Israel maintains their position the longer Netanyahu avoids criminal prosecution.
Hamas attacked Israel for a reason, and those matters need to be addressed because until they do the motive remains.
Other Arab countries have made reasonable offers to end these brutal attacks and deaths of innocent people.
I wonder when she will write a memoir. It should be interesting.
I’ll be a very short read 😅
i get the argument.... but we're talking about 10 years of miss management and how that is fixed.. Your not that dumb to ignore that!!
Mismangement that began with Blair's installation of a quangocracy
I'm disheartened by the rise of McSweeney. Poor behaviour rewarded was allegedly a governing tenet of the Tories, not Labour. Nevertheless, my gut tells me McSweeney and his swaggering gang of petulant lads will fall fast and hard. And I will savour it. I'm already tired of this nonsense.
I agree
The problem with the both right, both wrong argument is that one side is supported by propaganda and also with vast military resources. So if the us said that they will divert funding for Israel into funding for Gaza until the devastation of the past year has been reversed and Israel has to be left alone by Iran etc until that happens.
Badly led. Badly advised. No real policies.
All they had to do was pay Gray a smaller wage.
Amazing this woman was allowed to do an enquiry into the tories and then joined labour. Utterly disgusted.
The Tories literally chose her to carry out the enquiry, because they believed she'd be lenient to one of them.
They considered her to lean rightwards.
The evidence against Johnson was simply too damning to excuse.
Nah - Toryboys are utterly disgusting.
@@sasserine there was no evidence, it was a clear put up job from a labour planted stooge, she should be in jail.
And Northern Ireland. She's been in Northern Ireland before. Maybe she'll get Tory Plan Zee to amend his propaedo policy in Northern Ireland.
You should to spell and put proper sentences together
So much for Starmers clean sweep. What a joke British politics have turned into.
I blame Nigel Farage and 17 million Brits that voted Leave in 2016.
Because he's changing his Chief of Staff? That is literally just like partygate. (/s)
@@marksimons8861 What does that have to do with the new government performance to date?
lol is it falling apart? lol don't look like that too me lol get ready for this buget rich right wing client media lol
I wish this tish would not keep popping in my stream with nonsense attention grabbing headlines, its like the daily sport.
Yes, Prime Minister.
Because Israel has the ability to make you believe absurdities. It has the ability to make you ignore atrocities. (To paraphrase Voltaire)
Because he's a Tory leading the Labour Party.
How can a communist be a Tory?
Emily, Jon and Lewis. What are we doing. I at least am not so DUMB!
Anonymous names?
You need to explain to Israel that it will be protected from attack but must itself stop attacking.
Delicious 😂
You do this in Ireland too.
I noticed their Global colleague James O'brien is uncharacteristically completely silent on this. That's client journalism at its finest.
Stamer is so weak he can't run his own office nevermind the Kingdoms.
Nah - nonsense comment.
Where is Emily?… I demand an answer Gentleman!
Out somewhere on her broomstick.
It's not the same without Emily.
