In my opinion, this is the most important scene in the whole trilogy. Someone that DP looks up to finally had the guts to tell him the truth to his face and it left him hurt and speechless. The only way he could respond is with the only way he knew how: violence. Facing the truth was too much for him and he would rather face physical pain rather than the emotional pain. A true masterclass from Jackman.
Not only that, the way Hugh Jackman delivered the line, you can feel the anger and sadness this Wolverine is going through, suffering from his own failures.
There's 3 scenes I'll always love in this film: this one in the van, the part with him talking to Laura at the fire & when he talked to Cassandra about Charles. "For once in my life, I am proud to wear this suit. It means I'm an X-Man...I am THE X-Man". Hugh acted his ass off & really made you feel what Logan was going through.
That scene was so good, I felt so awkward watching sitting there watching. I felt like I should go to the lobby of the movies to "get some snacks" and give them some space lol.

He should have got at least a nomination for best actor for Logan. They sure as hell won't give him one for this even though he absolutely deserves it.
Hugh hasn't put so much work into a character in years. He has put his whole heart into playing Logan for so long that he can sell so much emotion in such a short monologue.
That's one thing I've always liked about Hugh. He's been playing a Wolverine for so long but no matter what he's asked to do or no matter if the quality in the story and production wavers, the one consistent thing about Hugh as Wolverine is that he always gives it 100% as though he's been given the best material in the world to work with Not like another actor in that XMen franchise who had the whole thing rewritten around her character and started phoning it in when she got bored or didn't like the material.
Wade 100% needed to hear that to get his shit together lmao, Logan had already lost “his entire world” by that point and was in no mood for shenanigans 💀
It's interesting to me how many people watch this scene and react with shock. I'm not saying Wolvie didn't dress DP down good, but when I watched the movie in a theater I had to stifle my laughter at almost everything he said. It's like someone getting fed up with an obnoxious friend. The extreme irritation is quite funny to me. And the twist on "Die alone" was so beautiful I couldn't quit laughing until the fight started! 😂
For any of those that were confused by the word "gubernatorial" and haven't looked it up for some reason...it's basically anything of, or relating to, a position of governorship. I’d take that stripper comment as a compliment. Isn’t it tough to even START a relationship with one at ALL? I sat in my seat in the theater, stunned. Probably because it was a split conversation. The first part is all you see until the second part is added during the montage when they're connected to the device. It would also be sort of out of place since this Wolverine doesn't know anything about X-23 and his loser life is only influenced by what DP has added.
