This is the best interpretation of the Elfentanz I ever seen. The sound is beautiful, the speed technique is fantastic! I want, if i could, to be a cellist like you and to have this brilliant speed technique.Thank you!
Whiz-bang facility and accuracy, at a very fast tempo. I found the bow grip a little unusual, what with the little finger that practically never touches the stick. But hey, whatever works... and this performance certainly does work, no doubt about it.
Dear video production expert guy: holy hell, you act like they were focused on the right hand the entire time. They cut to it a total of twelve times in two and a half minutes, with brief cuts that worked well in the switching order and in their rhythmic context. I'm sure you're probably a musician that wanted to just stare at one camera on the left hand the entire time, forget even the pianist -- but this video is a presentation to a general audience, not a tutorial. This is proof not only that you can't please everyone, but that everyone's an expert and particularly in the UA-cam comments section, there's always That Guy. Sometimes over and over again every other year, apparently. I've seen and worked on multicam productions that misunderstood terribly how to flatter their subjects, be they dance or orchestra or rock band -- this is not one of them. This is a well-produced video, with excellent pacing of gorgeous shots and knowledgeable direction between at least six very well-operated large-sensor cameras. It conveys well the skill exerted in this phenomenal performance of an unusual and highly technical piece of music. Gorgeous. Great work by Julian Steckel and Reiko Hozu, and by Backyard Productions capturing it so finely - thank you from a fellow musician and producer. I think I'll watch it again!
Lol, it is just the right-hand technique that makes this work a masterpiece. I don't think there will be any distraction if the camera just catches his right hand.
Watching this makes me want to go practice my cello for the next 8 hours.
No practice 40 hour a day
We need more ling lings
69 hours a day
69 hours a week
Finally. A version that sounds in tune.
Congrats to both the fantastic artists playing this wonderful piece !!! Bravo !!!🌹🎶😘🎹🎻🙏🏿🌹
Fantastic playing! The intonation in the highest register is spectacular.
Excellent cellist, awkward video maker... I need to close my eyes to appreciate this performance!

Never heard better Elfentanz!!!
This is amazing. A faster tempo than the other performance I'd heard and even that had been impressive.

@Lucastrombonist
Keep at it... it's one of those threshold pieces where it's impossible until it's easy.

Even trying to accompany this in the concert I just was hard....
This is inhuman. My fingers bleed just listening to that.

@Tahneela care to elaborate?
0,75 is ideal for me
This performance matches even Rostropovich's too bad the only available movie here is not Rostropovich's best performance....
This video was shot very well! Good job.
Music ain't bad either.
Other way around? The video was shot horribly and the playing is good.
Sado maso,lack und leder.
