- From the album 'Intuition', wnrcl.me/intui...
Featuring the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris and Douglas Boyd
A journey into the heartland of the cello by today's finest French virtuoso. This particularly fleet-fingered version of Dance of the Elves shows Gautier's need for speed to perfection.

CEO of looking to the right
Lmao!😂
Its called Intuition for a reason
Probably reading his music
@@Hallo1357ollah He’s turning his head because he wants to hear the notes well. You should know this
@@Nikifuj908 it’s humanly impossible to read music this fast, even at half this speed he’d have to have it memorized is his muscle memory
This was super cool, but I wish they wouldn't have changed shots so much. It made it harder to fully appreciate the difficulty of the song and the musician's skill.
In all honesty they did that purely for the cinematography, at least thats my assumption. While I have no doubt whatsoever that he actually played this peice, it sounds like it was recorded in-booth and then the video was shot for something interesting to look at.
100% agree that just a still camera on the fretboard would be better than all the jump cuts though. Either way, 10/10 playing.
It’s not that difficult
@@ape2533 this piece is literally known for it's difficulty lmao
@@tdw395 we call that shit editing.
And everyone @@ape2533 is what we call an idiot
Am I the only one who is completely amazed by the beauty of his cello?
Nope! It's incredible 😍
No it is amazing
@@Latatouille3 you're right...made in 1701...so precious 👏👏👏👏
As a cellist, this gives me anxiety
oh my god i could feel my right arm cramping even though im not even playing..... so many short movements, so fast..... and my left arm wouldve gone numb 10 seconds in omg
Sometimes I see or hear a performance and think with enough practice I could play a competent version. Then there's something like this.
I can’t even follow the score properly 🙃
Cellanxiety
Yes i am playing it right now. It is crazy how fast and perfect he plays it
was he fretting notes *off* the fingerboard?? amazing
He is; you’ll find many cello pieces that do that; its amazing
Do you play guitar, by any chance?
Yes often times you would only play notes off of the fingerboard as harmonics, but yeah he is amazing.
It’s honestly pretty common for advanced cello works.
Yes the A5
This performance is incredibly great. I have endless respect.
I like to play many of Popper’s things slower than usual. For example, his Tarantella ...
But elves - this is just the case where you need a frantic pace.
And you did it perfectly.
Bravo, maestro!
I enjoy this piece far more when played a little slower. These elves are dancing, but I doubt they're high on amphetamines all night
MARSH-MELLOW-MADNESS!!
What a freakin legend
I love fast classical music, or ‘fastical music’ as no one calls it except me
I shall now call them that, thank you
this is gold
You know what? As of today there will now be three of us who refer to fast classical music as 'fastical music'.
@install gentoo it’s catching on!!!!
I think I will use this term now
0:34 retreat! retreat!

素敵な時間をありがとうございます。
Magnificent.
Makes it look so easy
Je suis en admiration c'est vraiment que du bonheur d' écouté votre musique merci
Monsieur Capuçon .❤
He's looking at the door not to be busted by his mom
LMAOOOO
LOVE the bow stroke!
Oh, I bet you'll love practicing it as well! 😂😂😂😂😂
It has tortured me much already
Amazing, wonderful playing. As to camera, Dan McGlaun is absolutely right.
I paused right at that smug smile at the end. What a chad!
The problem is that the changing camera angles make one seasick. What is wrong with simply focusing on the soloist's technique, and not trying to do too much with the camera? This would make the video actually watchable.
Agreed
I think so too
I want to transcribe this for violin! This is so much more cool than Dance of the Goblins
It’s actually impossible on violin! The thumb position off the fingerboard section traverses an octave while on the same string, so you’d have to play it with the violin upside down like a cello. Which I have tried :p
help dance of the goblins is such a wonky name
Virtuosso ! , bravo !
✨️✨️✨️
Can't stop watching this video!! It's unbelievable! Such a good interpretation, I have no words ...
we getting squished my a marshmellow with this one
I was like, "Mabey I'll try this piece let me just listen to it." Mabey something else
*Maby
@@applejuices *Maybe
This is what happens to Elves who drink too much coffee......... (amazing playing!!)
As a normal human being, this gives me panic attacks
One time I went on a trip with some kids in my year group, and we watched some people play this live for free. I never realised how lucky I was till now 🧍🏻♀️
definitely fast!
Extraordinaire, de la virtuosité et du plaisir.
Pulp fiction guy got some talent
Unbelievable!
Beautiful! The background is recorded already and he's just playing with it? I liked the shot changes, I enjoyed looking at the way his fingers worked from different angles
WOW. SIMPLY WOW!
Magnífico!
Such a concentration that only a master can have
Bravo! 👏🏽
Best version I've found on youtube yet
Check out Julian Steckel
Check out Rostropovich
Agree about Rostropovich and Steckel - they play live, but this is a fake: video and audio were recorded separately and for string player it is even possible to see that sometimes Capuçon's right wrist doesn't move fast enough in comparison with sounds coming out. I will be not surprised, if the audio is sped up. Shame, Gautier.
@@nabludatelnica8738 and so what ? It's a video not a live recording. But it's not sped up, wouldn't be something a musician of this calibre would do
@@nabludatelnica8738 you are so stupid it amazes me 🤣
I bet he can play the minute Waltz in under fifty seconds!
Only you could do this! :) Bravo!
Bravo!
Absolutely the BEST !!!
Amazing!!!
This reminds me of dance of the goblins
Encore un merveilleux violoncelliste
This is definetly me when I get cannoned towaeds a marshmallow
Bravo phénoménal
Juste spectaculaire !!
WOW !!!!
Marshmallow rides.
this song went up and down more than the stockmarket
Amazing
WOW!!!!🌬🌬🌬🌬🌬🌬✌🏽👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Bravo !
Legendary
Bravissimo ! Wundervolles Spiel !
You came here for 0:27
of course man
Хороший темп.Рука онемела от просмотра
Wonderful ❤️
For fun Gautier goes free solo climbing because he's got the finger strength of a God. (That little "Uh!" at the end says it all.) The Blacklist brought me here.
👋Bravissimo, ll Maestro!👍
Es un encanto este hombre... ^ ^'
Are we gonna ignore how many camera shots there were here?
Davvero straordinario!
Imagine if Dance of Goblins were followed by Dance of Elves, or vice versa.
It would be nice if the version we are listening to was also the version we are looking at.
It is. Has to be. That piece is utterly impossible to mime to!
wow this looks so hard. i play violin so i probably can't even begin to fathom how hard this actually is. though i would like to see a viovinised version of this. that would be cool to learn
It is incredibly hard because of the height and the paces. I am starting to learn this piece rn and it is extremely hard
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👏👏👏👏👏
all of a sudden i now have the urge to learn how to play the cello
I play Cello since i Was 4 so about ten Yeah now and now i am beginning to learn this piece so...
Crazy speed..m
Wow
Where’s the orchestra? Hiding?
👏👏👏
The Blacklist Season 8 | E19 | Balthazar "Bino" Baker - Watched on September 2, 2024
He's actually reaching with his left ear because the piece must sound so clean and precise.
Le monstre
someone asked me if i could play this, and i said "if i were dead, yes"
what string is he playing?? They look so darn skinny
Bretislove He plays on a full set of Larsen Magnacore (strong)
Mete o loco esse aí kkkk
Why does this piece always seem fastforwarded. Isn't it possible to just play it a little slower, it seems far more enjoyable that way. Or is this some kind of competition thing about which cellist can play this piece the fastest?
Эльфы, маленькие и быстрые.
He’s turning his head because he wants to hear all the notes well
Its like a MTV-Video.......zooms are missing..... not good
경이... 그자체
Ok
And also the orchestra is sometimes not on time, not very responsive. To slow after syncopations.
Marsh-Mellow-Madness 5 cent ride
HOW
marshmallow madness anyone
Yes
ye
And now he’s collaborating with an Elf (Danny Elfman)
The completely unnecessary number of camera angles make this unwatchable lol
WHAT. He cannot possibly be human.
Then he must be Ling Ling
If he is not Ling Ling, then he his VERY close.
Because if you can play it slowly...
You can play it quickly!
i am respectfully looking at his hands...
Gautier is great, but unfortunately, he plays a fraction to sharp
Can't watch - please do not change camera angles every two seconds - the audience becomes seasick and the video is now about the camera person instead of the music. Terrible and unwatchable!
Um, where is the orchestra? I can't stand these fake synced videos
very very fast 0:05 to 2:27 total = 2:22 fast as rostropovich
Странный тип)) куда он все время смотрел таким диким взглядом? мне это не дает покоя)))
Он просто слушал струну) Я тоже так делаю)
what the heck
.
Presque aussi bien que Rostropovitch...😉👍
