I agree except for the story part, it was okay, other driver games had better stories, but as for physics and sound, certainly one of the best. The engine should've been used much more and evolved but instead we got the shitty physics of The Crew Motorfest now which lacks any good driveability
Sad that they never added some sort of menu to choose the color of the car that you're getting from the garage, but it's a solid game, even for today standards. For a while i really wanted a reboot for the series, but looking at ubisoft now, they would probably screw up the game trying to do a gta clone, with car skins, lootboxes and battle passes. I dont think that's what driver is all about.
Ubisoft can’t do anything without making it a cash grab. I really enjoy Sea of Thieves, and Ubisoft’s clone of it looks intriguing, but I know it’ll be WAYYY too pay to play for me to actually care about
that's the reason this car was created, it's because manufacturers wouldn't allow their cars to be shown blowing up in the game, so the devs had to make some lore-friendly unlicensed thing
Always wanted to drive the Vanishing Point Challenger outside of that one stupid movie mission. Also, what, 13 years later, the Royal Purple ‘59 Caddy still lives in my head rent-free.
I loved trolling people with that Cadillac in online. Obviously wasn't the best at anything but getting dusted by a 50+ year old 3 ton slab of chrome and steel while it hangs those fins out to dry never got old to me.
Was always curious as to why they had an unlicensed car in the game but kept it hidden from playing. I also found years ago there was a way to get to the multistorey carpark from the original driver reference in the game whilst playing split screen with my brother
Well, it’s the white one from the “Vanishing Chance” movie challenge and it probably has added strength stat to help with that, but that’s just my guess.
Fun fact: The Asym Desanne was also turned into a limo in Watch Dogs 1 & 2 and the interior of the Desanne was copied and pasted for most cars in Watch Dogs though in low detail.
Man this game is a true gem, sadly you can't buy it anymore. But I'm proud that I still have this game for my Xbox 360. And it still works. I have so much memories on that game. 👌🏼
I always wanted to drive and see the interior of the asym, but as it was never possible without any glitches of mods i never got to see the inside. But i guess i have fulfilled my dream now
Because of the purpose the Desanne is used, is usually used to blow up, manufacters dont like their cars blowing up so Ubisoft made the Desanne, is also why the prison truck is ficticious too
@@RedCobraQCthe manufacturers usually give you the license only if you follow their set of rules. That's why you only see some specific brands in games with zero or minimal damage model

Ubisoft is considering making a new Driver game. I wonder if the mini map would still be at the top middle and not the bottom right of the HUD like in The Crew.
Assuming you’re talking about Tanner’s challenger. Maybe the video, or the game coloring and vignette, or your eyes make it look orange in gameplay, but it’s yellow.

It was truly ahead of time, sound design, physics and the story are still some of the best
It really is a shame that Ubisoft, amongst all their garbage, has all but turned this gem into abandonware and left the series to die

The closest we have is Snoopii's mod menu which lets you spawn a car of any color or variant.
Pretty sure they already did screw up the game… isn’t it not available most places and you have to find a physical copy?
@caylumhenderson9396 yes, you still can find them online, pre-owned.
They already got the "GTA Clone" lables from Driver 3 and Parallel Lines so I think the worst they can do is go the live-service hero driver route.
this game was the best driving physics of all the race games , the drift was soooo satisfying

The closest thing to driving one without mods is playing either Watch Dogs 1 or 2 and stealing the stretch limo.
@@PeninsulaCity2024 you can buy the Limo in WD2 😊

The orange Charger from the mission yeehaw is a reference to the Dukes of Hazard
The Dodge Monaco looks like the Hazzard County Sherriffs car too
Dessane's sound suite should had been applied somewhere in The Crew, its just too good
Ok, so Driver and The Crew both have real-world and fictional cars.
The Crew 1 is basically Driver USA without John Tanner.
