This is honestly one of the BEST reviews I've seen. I care a lot about how the pixel looks from a very close up view (when using shaders, video filters, overlays, integer scale, etc)
There’s something oddly satisfying about seeing Zenless Zone Zero being played on the Anbernic’s square CRT looking display, given how in the world of Zenless they still use CRT tvs and VHS tapes.
I believe the problem with shaders for the 556 is that many cheap OLEDs use non-traditional subpixel layouts which doesnt work well with shaders. You could test this by forcing integer while using the shader and seeing the lines still appear.
I don’t think the console lacking analog triggers is a downside. Barely any games nowadays use them. The only game I’ve ever played that uses them is Yakuza 5 and that’s only one of many games I own
Excellent review, I've watched almost all of them as I wait for my clear black model to arrive. Waited a long time to jump in with a retro emulation handheld (this my first) outside of my hacked PSP (which is still the best option for PSP IMO). Looks like I made a good choice with my first purchase. Curious to see the next leap beyond Anbernic's current lineup and Retroid Pocket. The RP5 looks pretty good, but not that big of a leap over anything outside of the higher end Odins, etc.
Too much choice always leads to nothing lol, happened last night when I went to customise my class on black ops 6.. it's doing too much I'll just use custom classes fugit lol
If they could combine this handheld with the gameboy look and bezzel-less dispay of the rg40xxv, this would be the best vertical device avaiable, i just dont really like the look of the 406
its an amazing device for gameboy style lovers...i have 405v and its really good...406 even better with the power to play ps2 and gamecube very good, still cant decide gray or black transparent 406v though...cant wait for 406 H though...same but landscape
this device looks seriously impressive....analog sticks would be nice...but I ended up going with an sp. Lack of analog sticks kind of sucks when it comes to emulating n64 and dreamcast but w/e
Great review, thank you. Just one question about PS2 games on this console: did you notice a big difference compared to RG 405V? This for me is the keypoint which would make consider to buy this RG406V. Thanks!
definelty big, the 405v won't run games as well as the 406 just look how it runs soul calibur 3 ua-cam.com/video/bObUGUB4bO8/v-deo.htmlsi=SGNNDSyctNITTDQz&t=1656
How do you emulate the games? Any free and safe ROMS online or for Android 13? Do you have to actually own the game to use the ROMS? I'd appreciate the help with this.
Yes but when connected to a tv you can't fit a dongle on it you'll have to use bluetooth and a usb hub wont work either as it is not compatible with usb hubs
some sellers sell them with a sd card pre installed with games, but other sellers sells with a blank card, you have to speak to the seller to know if they have added games or not
@@VKsChannel Does a seller-included 128GB vs 256GB card affect the quantity of bundled (stuff) included when the seller preloads the card, or does the 256GB card simply give you more room over and above the preload (if any) to add (stuff) you sourced yourself?
@@RailRide a 128 GB card is more than enough for all the retro library up to the snes and genesis,I think you could have the full library of n64 too but ps1 games are more tricky because they are much bigger
Is it possible to attach a USB-C docking station with DisplayPort and multiple USB-A ports, so that one could connect to RG406v to a TV and play with 2 wired game controllers attached to the docking station?
@@VKsChannel My favorite controllers are wired. So I guess that's one point that Anbernic can improve in future versions, support for a full USB-C docking station.
@@frankbauerful True, I'll probably order this one before the end of the year, because it's nearly perfect for me (maybe just wait for official 406H reveal). My only gripe would be lack of full USB-C docking (charging, video out, peripherals, etc.) but I can live without that for now. :)
you can download them on your computer, connect the usb-c and transfer the games to the device and add the games like this tutorialua-cam.com/video/3tWMLYG8HJs/v-deo.html
Great review, subscribed👍 Ive bought one for myself much to my wifes dismay😂 Would this run Roblox because if so id be tempted to get one for my son as well?
Great video thank you wondering if you still feel the same. I’m thinking about purchasing one. There’s about a handheld to choose from. I want to make a wise choice.😂🕹️
while close, uh no. There are NO analog triggers. Yes I own this system. without analog triggers, some Game Cube/Wii/PS2 games are hard to play without them. Super Mario Sunshine comes to mind.
you can configure it in a way that L2 works as the analog portion of the trigger and L1 works as the digital gamecube button for shooting water while staying in place, sure you will always have full blast but there is no use for a weak blast in mario sunshine, in fact the switch version works like this too, and the only games where I see that this would be a problem are the racing games
I thought so too, but it's actually quite comfortable. Got mine a few days ago, and have used it for upwards of 4 hours without any comfortability issues.
@VKsChannel that's sick I wonder if it feels better than playing touch screen cause once U get used to touch screen it probably becomes closer to using a mouse than a thumbstick
This is honestly one of the BEST reviews I've seen. I care a lot about how the pixel looks from a very close up view (when using shaders, video filters, overlays, integer scale, etc)
I totally get that, I tried to show it off in the video.

Nice review from you! Also, thank you for showing us the video player side of the handheld. Many reviewers look over that cool feature.

Pass through charging for a true console experience is what we need now

Very good review man. Still torn between this and the RG556 so I've opted to just buy neither so I dont have buyers remorse lol

I agreed until today on the 11.11 sale I got this for $125

10:53 please what game is that?
Zenless zone zero
@VKsChannel thank you very much
Thanks for the review man!!
Great review ! Do you think this console has the power to emulate even the heaviest Sega Saturn games? Thank you very much.
Yeah it does!

Are the games preloaded on the Sd cards they sell the system with or do you need to download them from somewhere and install yourself?
some sellers sell them with a sd card pre installed with games, but other sellers sells with a blank card, you have to speak to the seller to know if they have added games or not
Blank card is best so that way its easier to upload and know which games actually work or not

Do u know where to download all the games from?

@VKsChannel ok thanks
I just got mine in the mail. At certain angles the blacks turn this kind of silvery color, is that normal?
yeah its because the display is not oled
Okay thank you! Just wanted to make sure I didn’t get a bad one haha
Mobapad just made a brand new controller! It’s called the N1 HD
I would like to know, can you play youtube videos, surf the net, fb , netflix on this device ? (anbernic rg 406v)
Yes just like any tablet or smartphone
ok , thank you sir
can we download whatsapp on it? is it run well except ofcourse the camera?
Yes it works
Great review, subscribed👍 Ive bought one for myself much to my wifes dismay😂 Would this run Roblox because if so id be tempted to get one for my son as well?
Yeah it runs any android game but I'm not sure how it will look in a 4:3 screen
It's an amazing console, but it really could use analog triggers. Can't play certain gamecube games effectively without them (eg super mario sunshine)
Actually you can
You can setup the analog part to L1 and the button part to L2
You will only have full blast of water though but its not a big problem
Would love a device in this form factor that can play PS2 well
This is the one
@@VKsChannel how does it handle current android games?

ok this thing being able to play ZZZ is actual a good deal.

Atari 2600?
Dear lord, my hands are cramping from just watching this
I thought so too, but it's actually quite comfortable. Got mine a few days ago, and have used it for upwards of 4 hours without any comfortability issues.
Does this already come with games installed on the device?
It depends on the seller some sellers put games on the sd card when you buy it others dont
Talk to the seller before buying
If only supported Linux
What's that got that this doesn't
Sonic adventure 1&2 works
Yes
Can it play gamecube and switch games?
Watch the review, it's excellent👌🏻
no its not i have much to big hands for theese tiny thing...u must have hands of a women ^^
Wait... Could this thing.. being that its android.. run call of duty mobile? 😮 That would be next level surely
Yes it can run it
