Shalom my friends, this is Simcha Hochbaum of Hebron at the Beit Hadassah Museum. This Shabbat, is the culmination of the whole redemption process. It comes about with the inauguration of the Mishkan on Rosh Hodesh Nissan.
The Torah describes the cloud of glory filling the entire Mishkan. These four and a half parshas in which we read about building the tabernacle is completed with Bezalel and Moshe Rabeinu.
At the same time the Midrash tells us there were seven days preceding, and on those seven days, we tried to put the Mishkan up, and each time we built it, somehow something went wrong.
The Divine Presence didn't come down and descend after the second day, third day, fourth day, and people start to murmur.
People started to say, maybe Moshe Rabeinu made up this whole concept that we could bring God down into this world and that God could have a dwelling place in our physical realm, in our physical space. Others were suspicious of Moshe Rabeinu. Maybe he had pocketed some of the money
And finally Rosh Hodesh Nissan comes after seven days of falling and failing. All of the sudden, “hu cama Mishkan” the Mishkan stood up and the Divine Presence came up.
Now we’re in a period of time in which the war has been taking such a heavy toll and so many casualties, and yet Hamas still seems to have the ability to shoot missiles upon us. And the threat of the north. There is a certain amount of giving up and despair and murmuring against the leaders.
You have to remember “a righteous man falls seven times, he rises again.”
Sometimes the Jewish experience is: we fall, we get up, we fall, we get up. But eventually we should be privileged this Shabbat, Pekudai, which is the lashon of redemption, the ultimate culmination of redemption. God’s glory should refill the entire world, the entire Eretz Yisrael. We should see the great revealed miracle. Victory for all of Am Yisrael. Shabbat shalom.
