Another well crafted narration of a Steven King. novel. Anyone who has experienced driving across the prairies of the US or Canada in winter will recognize the description of the type of local our salesmen finds himself in. The dreary weather on the cusp of a maybe storm, can easily bring darker thoughts and feelings to the fore. I liked the technical touch of adding the barely there and quite audible voices at an appropriate point in the story as it informed and completed the stories atmosphere. It also showed Steven King's understanding that the vagaries of one's life, can be little things that are barely noticed or considered by most people. An element of chance, can change ones life trajectory from one of a certain finality, to a expansive new beginning. Very nicely done Eric.
Thanks Jason! That mental image of standing in the parking lot staring out across the field just called for the brisk bite and stark nothing of a winter wind
wow this is incredible, i usually hate embellishments by readers in audio books but every single one of yours enhanced the story rather than distracted. This is so good. you clearly have an excellent understanding of this story.
What I don’t get about King (and although not a fan, I get that he is a writing genius) is that he ‘tells’ all the time. We are always told, “show, don’t tell,” but everything I have read or listened to by him, ‘tells’. It’s not a style I enjoy. No disrespect to your narration! Just my confused opinion!
You're absolutely correct. My fiction professor in college despised King and used his writing as a reference for what NOT to do as a writer. But King was one of my Dad's favorite authors so I was conflicted by it. As I've shifted from poetry to prose and found my voice in playwriting I've come back around to see what King is doing. Despite being a fiction writer, he's writing more like a director setting a scene than a novelist painting a picture and creating a world. At least that's how I feel about it. Thanks for sharing! I haven't heard "show, don't tell" in a long time and you opened a whole lot of memories just now!
He's changed his style over the years. His early books were textbook English. But I just read Billy Summers and it's a more staccato style with that present tense style (he sits, he gets up, he's wondering etc.).
I’ve read enough King, listened to him speak enough, and have known enough people like King to know there’s nothing ‘Democratic’ about him. It’s just some fake character he’s created probably as a personal joke. Who have you known in your life who’s a horror and Rock music fanatic that cares anything about the ‘Democratic Party’s’ M.O.?
Cult followers disconnected from reality need to stop waddling on up and bellowing THEIR opinions on every forum, platform and comment thread no matter how irrelevant they are. It's darkly amusing to watch the trainwreck cause itself, though, which King would appreciate.
Sometimes stories don’t need a boat at the end to complete it that’s down to your imagination and creativity to do that. Which is a good thing did he? Or didn’t he commit suicide? That’s up to you to figure it out one way or the other.

Thank you Jim! My gut instinct was "less is more" when it came to building atmosphere with this particular piece. Glad to hear it was a success!
SK is so deeply and sadly funny, I love his short pieces.
Great narration! Loved the added wind and such and how you chuckled at things funny.
Thank you!!
My favorite King story and was a delight hearing it tonight. Well read & produced. Thank you.
@@RomTankin I'm glad you enjoyed my interpretation!!
There is no better stephen king short story other than the jaunt. There will be no discussion on this matter☝️
Genius story-telling, as always... I thoroughly loved this short but immersive tale❤
Thank you so much!
Nice narration of a typically brilliant SK short story 😊
Thank you!
Nice touch adding the wind audio in the background.

Thank you so much, I appreciate that!!
Please don’t give up on this channel.
More is coming soon, I promise! Working on a cross-seas collaboration for STS episode 100!
Wonderful narration!! Thank you so much for being!
This is a GREAT story!
Here I sit among the vapor, someone stole the toilet paper. Should I sit and let it linger? Oh what the hello, I'll use my finger.
Very nice
Loved it.
Thank you so much!!

I own all his books last couple ones. He keeps mentioning Trump in there. I am so sick of him and his Democratic Party.
👍 he’s an overrated douche
Then go read project 2025 if you want something scary to read.

Greg Stillson?
Antagonist in The Dead Zone. Very prescient imo.
Don't look up here the joke's in your hand
I'll have you know that I'll look wherever I want☝️

Steve should stop ramming his political opinions down everyone’s throat. He’s disconnected from the common man, and he has been since the 1970s

read something else then , SK is a true genius and one hell of a storyteller!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We’re listening champ. No one is reading this.
@@brucebarbour1144 We already know he's a great story teller. The point was his political whining is getting tedious.
Then keep your mouth shut.
King has become hollywierd. No respect
Well....that sucked. He doesn't know how to end stories.
