    Cool video. I once tried brown rice only for ten days, to kick start weight loss mainly. Soooooo boring, by the tenth day half the bowl was made up of soy sauce and sriracha!

    Hello, I just wanted to know when you eat raw food for 1 week, is it raw like nothing cooked at all? When I look on the internet I see that raw food may not be cooked above (43° Celcius), so it's not that it's not cooked at all. Is that correct? Thanks, and keep up the interesting videos :-)

      The food can be heated but it must stay below 118 F. Anything warmer will kill the natural enzymes.

      Katia De smet I don’t heat or cook anything on my raw cleanses. I make fresh juice (fruits and veggies) with my juicer and usually have at least one glass per day. I also eat primarily fruit and a little nuts and seeds for breakfast and lunch. LOTS of fruit, but very little nuts. My dinner is always a big green salad with lots of veggies and fruit- or nut-based dressing that I make in my blender. I hope that helps!

    I'd like to know how is your approach to eating enough protein for muscle development having a plant based diet, do you take protein shakes or something to boost your protein intake?

    • @pedron30
      @pedron30 3 роки тому +3

      I know the question wasn't for me but I'm going to take the freedom of answering. I am also a Vegan and to get enough protein I do have a protein shake a day but I do not take the full serving size since I usually have more than enough from eating things like lentils, beans, oats, tofu, seitan, tempeh, chickpeas, a variety of seeds and nuts. the protein shake is just a little extra I take as a snack after working out, pretty much like meat eaters also have a shake after workout, it is simple to make and easy to carry around with you, you can get all your protein with only food but honestly having to prepare one less meal/snack is the best hahah

    I was just listening to another fitness guy who recommends staying away from fruit - except melon - because of the carbs. It can all get very confusing.

    • @MinusTheGym
      @MinusTheGym  2 роки тому +1

      Yeah, no kidding. Nutrition is one of the most convoluted topics out there. It’s hard to know what to believe. I personally would recommend NOT avoiding fruit, at least based on my own experience. I made that mistake in the past. A high-protein diet is going to lead to a higher dietary acid load in your body. To buffer and eliminate the acids, your body has to leech minerals from your bones and muscles. So you’re much better off - from a health and longevity perspective - eating a moderate protein diet with plenty of raw fruits and vegetables.

      @@MinusTheGym I’m 51, 5’10 and 230 lbs. I’m overweight. I started your beginners callisthenics workout and 16:8 fasting. It makes sense to eat a rounded whole food diet, however, I’ve had difficulty shifting weight over the years so wondered if I was missing something with regards to carbs. Any advice welcome.

    Currently on day 6 of a 7 day water fast. Funny to find your video today. Question... I like the idea of a plant-based diet, but I cannot figure out how to make a diet that tastes good and that I want to stick with for a long time. And most vegans I see look like they suffer from malnutrition. Any thoughts?

      You could check out simnett nutrition, he does really tasty and healthy whole food plant based meals (as well as calisthenics), he really helped me transition. I find I use a lot of tahini based dressings to liven up the veg.

    You mention that you've watched "Forks Over Knives." But you haven't watched "Earthlings" or "Dominion"? I can see why you've embraced the healthfulness of a plant-based diet, but why haven't you connected morally with the ethics behind veganism? For some of your meat-eating subscribers, that would be a giant leap forward, but for you it would entail just one small step. Maybe give it some thought if you haven't already.

    • @MinusTheGym
      @MinusTheGym  3 роки тому +2

      Vegan Todd I’ll talk about this in a future Q&A video. But the short answer is, I have seen Earthlings and I have connected morally with the ethics. When I was 100% vegan in the beginning (first 4 years or so) I had this constant and subtle feeling of contentment and a deep connection with nature. And I do miss that and want to go back to that. It’s something I’ve only experienced from being “all in” with veganism. I’ll talk more about it in a future video. That’s a huge topic!

    Hi there, I would like to add a question to your q&a session! I was wondering how you handled adapting a whole food plant-based diet with your family? were they supportive? Did they go into it with you, or do you have to cook for them separately? My family is definitely not on board! :-( any advice you could give would be greatly appreciated!

    • @fdagpigj

      I'm single (and from what I can tell MTG had their first child around the time they went vegetarian so they only had their wife to convince) but when I went vegan, my mom went along with me even though I was already living on my own, visiting her only on weekends. But if you're cooking delicious vegan foods and your family isn't eating, the problem is with them, and I would at least consider leaving them.

    Why do you eat eggs? From a health perspective, with their insane amount of cholesterol? I'm sure your cholesterol is fine because of your predominate plant based diet, but why add any poison in the well?
