When i sneeze in my house at night my neighbors call the cops for a noise complaint, these guys can drive a super loud racing mower at night and have no problems
It’s a legal thing you can’t get a noise complaint for a motor vehicle on your property at least in Oregon that ks the law so you can be as loud as you want whenever you want as long as it’s a motor vehicle making the noise
My name is Michael and I love to watch your videos. I have a offroad go kart of my own and I love to use it. You have taught so many things about go karts and cars. Thank you
CarsandCameras its just a recomendation, you should make the testing part of the videos in daylight, its very hard to see what is going on in the dark.
Same rear tires on my Crapsman mower. I slimed them and still had to fill them every time i mowed. They finally dry rotted and cracked. I replaced them with the old rear tires off my 1975 Cub Cadet, and still using them to this day. Says a lot about quality nowadays... Hit GPS up for a set of go-cart turf tires to fit those rims!
Word of warning: People using cutoff wheels (especially without a guard) get yourself a clear face shield. I've seen them bind, break and imbed half the wheel in a cheek. It's not pretty and it's preventable! If you have an ADF welding hood, they'll work in a pinch.
4gasem yea man I like face shields a lot of times more than glasses. I had one (cutoff wheel) blow up even with a guard , it tore the crap out of the brown jersey glove I had on(not real protection but for sparks)....like 3 of my fingers were throbbing for an hour cause it was cold in the shop. No blood but wowowowow it was throbbing
4gasem I completely agree with that, one time I was using a cut off wheel, I had safetly glasses on and just regular work gloves. the blade exploded when cutting, ripped through my thumb down to the bone, up my chest cutting my shirt and chest, into my cheek and bounced off the safety glasses(thank god). the thumb and my chest didn't hurt horribly, but my face sure did. Face mask always haha
Caleb Peterson and try and work with someone within earshot of you. I was working in the shop late one night , and add it up to being tired and in a rush, but as I pushed a piece of metal thru a bandsaw I realized I was screwing up just as the piece sliced thru and fell off. No more pressure on the workpiece and there goes my thumbtip into the blade, a good 1/4" deep to my nail. It didn't really bleed , but I made it in the shop door to wrap it and sit for a minute. That wasn't good, sitting down, I got all weak and queasy and had to just put my head down on the table for about 45mins, I literally couldn't move enough to grab my phone to call someone to come get me. Like I said, it barely bled at all maybe a couple drops but it was deep... I've never broken a bone or anything, sometimes I think I have 9 lives.
Hmmm ... A belt guard for the pulley and belt near the family jewels could be made from a sturdy plastic bucket or an old aluminum pot turned upside down and cut out to match the contour of the curved panel that rises up from the chassis to the seat support. A few simple metal brackets or straps to secure it to the existing sheet metal would do the trick. Cheap and quick. Hit it with a bit of spray paint to make it match the rest of the build after you settle on the color scheme and it'll be fine. :-)
Wow..a jackshaft between the legs. No headlights. No brakes. Just realized flipping the pulleys would give it more speed. You guys are good. It'll be fine. 😬
Colepaq yea that hand throttle crap is scary. I test drove mine after building it with the hand throttle, I survived but I started fabbing a pedal immediately. Use an old bike brake lever , works great.
You guys NEED to get rid of the stock steering setup, they are complete junk. Also make a guard for that pulley, you don't want to get nothing caught in there!
Cowgirl 001 I'd beg to differ, I've got a late 80s deutz allis(simplicity) The cross beam on mine is solid metal, bar stock. it's like 1/2" thick at least, and not cast and all I did was lock the pivot, upgrade done. Those sears need to strengthen the tie rod arm/beam running across, I've seen em fold like pretzels.
recently seen another mower build where the builder used a straight kart rearaxle with a diskbrake and hooked it up to the engine using a cornerdrive (same youre using in the rat rod wagon) mounted with the drive pointed down basicly you can make it any height and get a chaindrive of the cornerdrive to the kartaxle and a cvt from the motor to the drive then you start the mower hit the gas and hang on
Adding caster will help as well. the axle needs to be tilted to the rear some to increase the caster. A lot will make the steering heavy but stable. No or negative caster makes for a wild ride.
Take that negative camber out and add caster! With enough caster you would be able to drive it safely with one finger! But it will be a wobbly mess when you back up lol
use a double sided belt, my mower belt has a really big one that drives a lot of pulleys, so when it flips it will drive normally still, but it could flip too much then, and break. if you can put a big roller chain on it, or silent chain. that's my thoughts, not sure if they'd work.
Dear CarsandCameras crew i was think in that you sould buy a noter small battery and mount it on the oter side . So you can have one batery for the starter and key and the oter one for lights and acsecerys.Just say it will work better and you will . ot have to charge every time you use it from me
i had a tractor with a 18hp opposed twin ( with governer) on a basically stock shift on the go murray. up front ran a 8" pulley, on trans i ran a 4" . i had it in 4th of the 6 gears and i was probably in neighborhood of 30 plus mph. being stock steering( unlocked front axle as well) , stock height and no brakes was seriously scetchy. needless to say it was just an experement, and has been disassembled. that thing was scarey fast. id add some gear oil in that trans before it blows up, i did that too in another tractor.👍
You should put the removed flare part of the rear fenders back on. Clearance them about a half inch on the sides and an inch on the top where the tire may grow slightly.
I have a 24 HP Briggs I built that does about 22 MPH and set up for off road. If you look at my channel and look for red eye the name for the tractor. It's a wild ride and has handle bars with a twist grip throttle.
I can picture the filler panels that would close in the tops of the fenders.... make em out of poster board , transfer to sheet metal , cut em out and weld em on .... I think it looks cool the way the lips wrap around the tires, just fill on the top and rear 4 inches to the center. kinda too late now but I figured it would give a little better splatter protection.
Hi Guys, In addition to changing the size of the belt drives do you need to do anything with the governor on the engine to increase speed or does that just look after itself?
since the gears in the transaxle are spinning so fast you should put bar and chain oil in the transaxle, when the gears are spinning that fast they will like weld themselves together and won't move at all.
A little negative camber is OK (the top of the wheel leaning in towards the centerline of the vehicle) but don't go crazy. Because you have a straight axle and the tires won't roll under a lot, you shouldn't need much to keep the tire's footprint flat when in a hard turn.
I would junk out the mower steering, since it is only good (barely) for slow speeds, in favor of a solid steering setup, basically a gokart-esk steering setup. then setup clutch (left) pedal, brake (right) pedal, and throttle (bike brake lever) on the steering wheel as this will give you easier to access controls. And personally I would get rid of the big mower tires in favor of something smaller maybe an 8 inch tire rim combo all the way around, it would improve stability and make some good speed as well.
I’m at a stand still and need to build a jack shaft what size pulleys and etc did y’all use for it and where’s the best place to purchase everything for it thank you in advance
When i sneeze in my house at night my neighbors call the cops for a noise complaint, these guys can drive a super loud racing mower at night and have no problems
You have some pretty bad neighbours
Taylor Sharpless good thing that comment was 3 years ago, i moved out! Time flies
Good
It’s a legal thing you can’t get a noise complaint for a motor vehicle on your property at least in Oregon that ks the law so you can be as loud as you want whenever you want as long as it’s a motor vehicle making the noise
Man, you handled that one inch shaft nicely.. 😂
😹😹😹😹😹
My name is Michael and I love to watch your videos. I have a offroad go kart of my own and I love to use it. You have taught so many things about go karts and cars. Thank you
thanks for watching
You think it'll finally do 40?
CarsandCameras maybe
CarsandCameras I love your Guy's videos! I'm making my own racing mower because of you guys!
CarsandCameras its just a recomendation, you should make the testing part of the videos in daylight, its very hard to see what is going on in the dark.
it can do 40. love your videos hope you can upload more than twice a week

are you still using them?

No blood but wowowowow it was throbbing
Count yourself lucky! ;) The proper PPE WILL protect you to a point, but common sense is key. :)
MrTheHillfolk cold AND throbbing?!?? wow you're talented...

that mower looks awesome. i like building like youse guys no plans and on the cheap.
thanks
Been looking forward to your guys video all day!
I love how proud he was when he said “power bulge”
9:12, anyone that deep in serious thought - while wearing that helmet - has my respect.
That red eg Civic hatchback is nice asf
I’d kill for a clean one like that.
"No brakes... Hey grab a helmet"
Lol

Throwing sparks in the dark! Low life or no life! Haha. Also your wheelies for days was the best video you guys ever made.
thanks
Wow..a jackshaft between the legs. No headlights. No brakes. Just realized flipping the pulleys would give it more speed. You guys are good. It'll be fine. 😬
The round stock looks bad ass!!
thanks
This was my inspiration to build my own thank you also I pulley swapped mine and it goes about 20 with the governor still on
I always rewatch the lawnmower videos bring it back or make a whole new one would be sick love the videos
They should get a predator 708 vertical shaft v twin and put that on a new mower
The sides are really cool man!
Nice to know how to video.. good job on the trans axle alignment with the belt alignment.. here for your support on the videos
I like it! Looks mean the way yall welded up the fender sides 👍
thanks
"YOUR BOTTOMING OUT ON EVERYTHING DUDE" *yeah I know* 😂😂
john i believe the correct saying is, it took off like a bat outa hell
If I had a ride-on mower I would totally go to the shops on it
Good job guys that's amazing 🙂
thanks
Yea you guys r great i'm just getting into racing lawnmowers I won't one that does about 60 lol
You guys gotta do a gas pedal. The UA-camr fearlessfront has a good tutorial on it.
Definitley!
Colepaq yea that hand throttle crap is scary.
I test drove mine after building it with the hand throttle, I survived but I started fabbing a pedal immediately.
Use an old bike brake lever , works great.
please do a throttle pedal
we have a pedal now
Awesome, you guys should get on that steering next
I love this series a friend of mine built one it was so fast til it was wrecked. Keep it goin guys! Idea? You ought to give it a paint job !
yall are sh*ttin crazy.... LOVE IT!
You guys NEED to get rid of the stock steering setup, they are complete junk. Also make a guard for that pulley, you don't want to get nothing caught in there!
Colepaq
Yea they are weak......
Add some caster to that bad boy too , camber is gonna make it twitchy if ya go to far
That TRACTOR has 2nd gen steering on it & it is the best Stock steering systems out there..
Didn't know that. Still, I prefer to change it out to a direct steering system. Has alot of play by the looks of it. Just personal preference.
Cowgirl 001 I'd beg to differ, I've got a late 80s deutz allis(simplicity)

Im talking bout Lawn Tractors & Yard Tractors, Not Garden Tractors
Nice jacksaft! (Your thumbnail has a typo)
Cylo's Garage no there’s not

love this build
Some diamond plate custom fenders would look awesome
Great Job you are the best give you a 10 out of 10
jackshaft pully works great
Adding caster will help as well. the axle needs to be tilted to the rear some to increase the caster. A lot will make the steering heavy but stable. No or negative caster makes for a wild ride.
Keep up the awesome vids
every time i hear that it makes me smile
I saw y'all in lowes the other day
could have just flipped then rearend over. worked along time in my back yard race mower
I prefer "Fabricobble" for such jobs John.... haha
Love the video lads
thanks
Take that negative camber out and add caster!
With enough caster you would be able to drive it safely with one finger! But it will be a wobbly mess when you back up lol
I learnt this off the tv. If ya don't wanna get "chunks", have a bar of soap with ya and coat your blade on both sides between cuts.
that looks pretty awesome
loving this build. lol
I think John had his tongue in a knot this episode 😂
RRan
never laughed so much I service mowers gonna try this some winter night

u guys need to invest in a night camera because u guys do alot of night shoots. All good & keep the great work
to fix that belt flip you guys can makeshift a adjustible guide for the front and/or rear. that could help?
You should put the removed flare part of the rear fenders back on. Clearance them about a half inch on the sides and an inch on the top where the tire may grow slightly.
Where did you guys get your bearings from? For the jackshaft
What is with you two building machines that have rotating parts located between your legs?
hey guys do you know of any junk yards close to lenoir county nc were you can go and explore for any thing from cars to lawn mowers to gocarts
sorry I dont
Good job y'all.
thanks
I have a 24 HP Briggs I built that does about 22 MPH and set up for off road. If you look at my channel and look for red eye the name for the tractor. It's a wild ride and has handle bars with a twist grip throttle.

kinda too late now but I figured it would give a little better splatter protection.
Y'all should put one of those little racing fuel tanks that gassers have on the front of that mower
I'm having problems taking off of old rusted clutch converter that part that goes to the shaft
Hi Guys, In addition to changing the size of the belt drives do you need to do anything with the governor on the engine to increase speed or does that just look after itself?
since the gears in the transaxle are spinning so fast you should put bar and chain oil in the transaxle, when the gears are spinning that fast they will like weld themselves together and won't move at all.
hey ,are u guys gonna do anything to the motor once yall finish all the other stuff . i would to hear a header on this motor
You guys should put a mudtruck / tractor pull exhaust stack with a flapper
How hot do you think the transaxle will be after 5minutes of high speed?
Overdrive is the word your looking for
"Access hole for the Jack shaft."
David James my old lady welded her access hole back up.. Until.. until I get more cutting discs!!! Lmfao
I think for the next project you guys work on should be a T. rex kinda design where there's 1 wheel in the back and 2 in the front
A little negative camber is OK (the top of the wheel leaning in towards the centerline of the vehicle) but don't go crazy. Because you have a straight axle and the tires won't roll under a lot, you shouldn't need much to keep the tire's footprint flat when in a hard turn.
I suggest getting a mikuni knock off carb. You will get more power, and less dead spots. Ferless did a video on this i belive
The word you were seeking was "overdrive". :-)
Haha thanks
to fix the steering you need to lean the front spindles back like a chopper it will keep it a lot smothered and help with get rid of bump steer
Precise cut
It looks like a mad max lawn mower
When Ike goes MEEP MEEP it sounds like the road runner horn 🏃
who's cadillac is that in the background
That sounds hella bad ass it sounds like a mini Batman Tumblr.
Hey would U guys recommend lowering it the way u did or finding a different way to lower it like changing the tires to smaller tires and such
I'm still not sure
If it’s faster in reverse, couldn’t you just flip the rear end or does that work like that in tractors?
How much power/ stress do you think that motor was putting out before it gave up on life
hey now, who doesn't love a lil chunky stuff every now and then?
Nice red EG...
I might do this to mine but if the pulleys are good condition could you just swap them? (Stock)
And personally I would get rid of the big mower tires in favor of something smaller maybe an 8 inch tire rim combo all the way around, it would improve stability and make some good speed as well.
great video once again guys
It's nice to see boyfriends that can work together and get along so well. Happy for you two!
Where did yall get the jackshaft kit from
Good vid guys!!
thanks
It is looking nice for a lawn mower but... "Will it do a burnout?!?" -Ike
ive smoked the tire. lol
what is the rotating piece called you used for the jackshaft
I've said it several times guys direct steering LOL. STOCK will get you KILLED!
That TRACTOR Has 2nd GEN Steering & its the BEST Stock steering System out there..
Yeah for stock speed not bad, On a racing mower NOPE that's a death wish...
It reminds me of the steering on this ragetty mid 80s bolens I have I'm gonna swap it onto my craftsman 2
When are we gonna see the 670 vs. the Corvette drag race ?
I’m at a stand still and need to build a jack shaft what size pulleys and etc did y’all use for it and where’s the best place to purchase everything for it thank you in advance
Also could i get a parts list and where can i get them
Is this thing going to to be stripped down and painted when it's done
RBG wants to do a street go kart build off with you guys.
Hey that was an old murry mower right. Or what was it.
awesome drift it
Please tell me you guys didn't bypass the seat kill switch...
love the civic! i have an aswell! 95´ milano red 2 door hatch!!
thanks
