"This engine kit isn’t complete like a real car engine. It’s missing key components such as the coolant, radiator, fan, and transmission. You need a transmission to get the wheels turning in an RC car. This kit is a fun little toy, but it’s not complete. You have to turn that power into energy; all that horsepower isn't doing anything without these essential parts."
FYI wheel bearing grease is a godsend getting gaskets to stay in place. It also allows them to come off nearly flawlessly without making a huge mess and leaving residue behind.
i JUST baught one! i got the all on one kit with the metal base and tanks, it looks like this is the version you got too, did the base by chance come with the engine mounts? i know you baught the upgraded one but im just curious....stirlingkit is pretty vauge on whats al included. i also see people like restoration kamasutra and JonnyQ90 using a type of Anerobic glue such as loctite 603 or retaining compound 603 for the piston wrist pins, is that a requirement? i dont see you using any kind of compound here, does your engine run fine? how long have you ran it for? sorry if i have so many questions im just trying to make sure i build mine right! (my engine has not yet shipped yet by the way)
Did you ever hear of a man that built one in the mid 50's. He built it totally from scratch as far as I can remember. An automotive magazine told about it and at that time it was known as " The World's Smallest V8 ".
the crank has 5 bearing journals but you only installed the three in the center ? why , and looks like you left the drain plug out when you filled it with oil
Nice! Shame though where you struggle, you skip it...would be the most interesting things...also you didn't show timing marks...could help other builders a lot. But really good assembly! 👍
Initially, I did leave some of the struggles and extra parts but the video was almost 2 hours long, I had to cut content to keep the video relatively "short". The timing is pretty easy, all the details are in the online manual.
It's big enough to put in a go kart with a 5 speed transmission. A super charger, or turbo and could probably run 10lbs of boost. And make the go kart or motorcycle street legal. Or another set of wheels, this is probably still a new thing.
You look at it, play with it, build it into an RC car. It's the same as when you buy an engine for your car, you use it or you store it in a glass box. it's a massive wow factor.
It doesn't sound like a V8 at all, more like a cross between an outboard boat motor and an old VW beetle engine, seasoned with weed eater sauce. For the expense and effort they should fix that flaw. These engines can sound awesome but I'm not willing to pay 4 grand for a toy. Maybe 400.
I'm surprised there was no dowels for timing cover, heads or intake manifold bit slack when they say it all 5 axis CNCed, also why have bolts going in the centre of main bearing caps, pretty nice engine but they could have done better, a bell housing would also be nice and some sort off drive point. As for the building have you not heard ov plastic tweezers or oil spouts those scratching sounds on a nicly crafted engine, would sack you if it was mine but thanks for showing video
Looks really cool. I have so many questions. Like I wonder why they doubled the intake gasket? I bet that was fun keeping the green o-rings in place and then having two gaskets per side to align up while setting the intake on there.😂 I'm pretty sure there was some editing and %@#$/&% words😂 Then it looked like the block was drilled for 4-bolt mains but caps were only 2-bolt🤔 Maybe it's for a supercharged version 😅. Seems like there was something else. 🤔 Oh did you follow assembly to the T? Seems like I would have waited for starter and filter until pan was installed. What do I no. Rhetorical question. I actually know quite a bit. Lol. Ok I'm paused at 25:22 and will continue.. Oh did you have to assembly the valves? I thought man you got off easy..I can't believe they would do that part for you. 😊 ❤
So? This engine is clearly designed to run on gasoline, not on methanol. Then the carb needs to be re-jetted for richer mixture and also the oil needs to be at least API SN, so it would be alcohol compatible.
Great job! That engine is a powerful gem! Thanks for sharing the build experience.

@@Mr.PhatsVarietyVibesShow they do sell a transmission for this engine. This kit did come with a radiator. Watch till the end.
That’s because of the time in machining to make one of these pieces, they are awesome to hear one of them run, great video
You got that right!
FYI wheel bearing grease is a godsend getting gaskets to stay in place. It also allows them to come off nearly flawlessly without making a huge mess and leaving residue behind.
For the cost of a model, I could buy a full size v-8. Was kind of surprised by the price point. Super cool either way.
Awesome engine very cool now it needs a body and controls. Would be a blast to play with .
RC ?
Great assembly works very well for a V8
Driving in those screws with the electric screwdriver without checking for cross threading is wild.
@@Dkmode1 it does not have enough torque to cross these threads.
@@AJRestorationthank god
It's a nice looking little engine though
Absolutely!
Looking over those parts, it reminds me of Short Circuit after Johnny 5 dismanteled the Corvette and said "piece of cake!'
He never took apart a corvette, he took apart a firebird you dingdong
Looked at the website... Too rich for my blood. I'll just have to live vicariously through your videos, AJ. 🙂
Worth the wait, and tease 😁
Awesome engineering and precision. What a kit!
Now that is cool! For a really compact hot rod! I wonder if they make a twin-turbo version!😊
Where can I get one is my question please answer when u get a chance ty

@@AJRestoration thanks buddy
I could probably build a full size engine for the same amount, great job and video.
Pretty cool, it's about the same price I had my 283 built, and that's a real engine, little pricy,
Awesome little get up
Need to do one 500cc for motorcycles
28:50 Falta el escudo de calor entre el múltiple de escape y los cables de las bujías.
ha it even shreds like a big v8 running
Reminds me of the old Cox motors and COX cars.....
Sick AF
If Mac Afric send you a welding machine, you could make a little motorbike to put it in :p
Haha I could try, my fabrication skills are lacking. Might build something soon.
Really cool very pricey. wait so it only has one radiator hose ?
Wow! Very cool!
Sound likes the car 🚗 🚗🚗🚗

I have a question, do these things oil pumps push oil to the top end at all, because it looks like it wouldn't get any oil to the top end
Knowing nothing about an engine, it would be nice to tell what each part is you're assembling.
Did you ever hear of a man that built one in the mid 50's. He built it totally from scratch as far as I can remember. An automotive magazine told about it and at that time it was known as " The World's Smallest V8 ".
It wants a little turbo or super charger on 👍
Wow i just noticed the block uses 4 bolt mains on the inside 3 mains like a real engine.
Now, that's what you call a Small Block Chevy. You just need the rest of the car to go with it
the crank has 5 bearing journals but you only installed the three in the center ? why , and looks like you left the drain plug out when you filled it with oil

Мне нужно года 2 деньги копить, чтобы на этот мотор насобирать... Денег он своих конечно стоит, не знал даже что подобные игрушки существуют.
How much are they
Where did you get that screwdriver?

Is it billet or cast? 🤔

Far out!!!!

Why don't you use the tweezers to hold the electric screwdriver? arn't you a ftraid of getting electricity on your fingers?
Are you in South Africa? Darn sure I heard the sound of turtle or ring neck doves in the background. 😊
Spot on haha, Pretoria to be more precisely.
For that kinda cash I’d build a real V-8
POV small block guys building their engine

Yes, his channel is awesome. I had been watching him before I started making videos.
@@AJRestoration very enjoyable.

$2100 for a toy?
Its a toy for real men.
Looking at website it's an expensive hobby
True, although its totally worth it, everything is billet milled and machined, tight tolerances. A lot of engineering went into this little engine.
You don’t play with real engine then

Why is the flywheel not spinning?
its cool but not a grand cool
Did you know ? You can buy Nitro methane for it at the hobby shop ?
So? This engine is clearly designed to run on gasoline, not on methanol. Then the carb needs to be re-jetted for richer mixture and also the oil needs to be at least API SN, so it would be alcohol compatible.
Nitro fuel will ruin the engine, this one runs on 93, 95 octane gasoline.
I don't know if it can light with methanol, it's not designed for that, it wouldn't be ruined, but it wouldn't light.
That's just dumb. Forget about it.
You seem clumsy and ham handed, just like me...
