There needs to be a new version of this for kids today. Ads are even quicker and more heavily produced now, and while unhealthy food ads aren’t on kids TV anymore, kids will want anything they see advertised. My 8-year-old nephew threatened to contact a small-claims solicitor recently after falling off his bike. He said we get “100% of the compensation we deserve!”
Remember seeing this in school about second or third grade. Some 40 years ago. Never forgot the action figure part. Coincidentally; I now have an aunt and uncle named Jim and Judy and they live on a lake and used to be into jeeps; four-wheeling, and boating.
Commercials back then were more tame compared to the abrupt, brash and loud commercials of today. But the messages given in this film STILL apply today!
At 7:42 I believe the woman was asking something like “why are you telling me what to do?” And the guy responded with “because I’m the boss” (yeah I was bored enough to slow the audio down once)
Kinda reminds of those “Buy Me That!” Specials from the 90s. “Soopergoop” also from 1976, does the same thing about how advertising tricks kids. Same with 1973’s “Analyzing Advertising.”
The funny thing is now, that it's so easy and common for kids to be able to make their own videos and make stop motion cartoons at home. So in a weird, possibly ironic way, the toys now actually are as fun as they look in commercials.
Quite on the nose when it comes to warnings about commercials to children. And these guys on the ads should've requested these features to the guys behind the commercials in this video. And as a added bonus, ensure that the doll's separate outfits are part of the doll in every store as opposed to individually.

Pity "Speed Demon" from Michael Jackson's "Bad" album wasn't even thought of back then. That would have been the perfect musical accompaniment for the Speed Demon commercial. You think? And didn't the Lip Smacker jingle conjure up one of those Buddah bubblegum hits of the late 60's? Made me think right away of the Ohio Express' "Yummy, Yummy, Yummy." Those were the days!
someone recently included the "Sugar Fruit Giggles cereal" segment claiming it to be apart of a 1970s saturday morning cartoon block "including commercials" ua-cam.com/video/PmBPiFOvAkU/v-deo.html
And when the 70s kids grew up, they got subjected to all the "organic", "clean eating", "healthy", "fresh" food marketing. I sure hope they managed to look past it all! What's that? You did! And you have healthy looking hair thanks to your special shampoo? Well damn. "Healthy looking". Hair is dead. My desk looks pretty healthy, too.

This is definitely one of the most important films ever made.
I loved this!!! This is old but I think it could still help kids today.
Can we get an update on this for politicians? They rarely live up to the hype of their advertising either.

I can't believe someone else remember Soopergoop!
Sooper Goop is tops as far as I'm concerned
@@tripdefect87 total classic!
_River_ not included? That's a deal breaker.

In all fairness, you can actually see the "Artificial Fruit Flavor" printed on the Sugar Fruit GIggles cereal box
Also, artificial fruit flavors in and of themselves aren't bad. In fact, some are chemically identical to the natural fruit flavors.
I love it.
Amazing I thought about this this morning after many many many years and there it was. Thank you!

Josh Way needs to riff this gem on his channel!

I'd buy that for a dollar!
9:33 - Me and weed.
No, you cannot make celery sticks fun.
I like to eat celery sticks, but I will admit the commercial where they made celery sticks look fun was pretty funny!
Ants on a log is kind of fun. I guess.
I miss Rik Mayall so much
