If you have the functional objects mod the bookshelf will start satisfying the "Literature" need which can be useful if most of your prisoners can't be bothered to visit the prison library
Im having a huge problem with safety but I have 50 armoured guards, 150 guards, 55 guards dogs and 20 snipers but for 400 min, norm and max so I’m really confused on what to do. Oh and I have gangs turned on but all the leaders and lieutenants are in super max...
Seperate them, A min security fighting a Supermax? That can cause deaths and a riot, You dont need a patrol near the Min Sec cells, except for: Normal: They will need 2 patrolling guards. Max: They will need 4 patrolling guards. Supermax: They will need 4 patrolling armed guards. Protective Custody: You will make them safe at all costs, make their entrance of the cell block staff only, make sure they have a canteen, yard, shower, laundry, etc that they need. Death Row: Make sure to seperate them from all Security levels, they will need to be protected with 5 dog guards, normal guards even with tazers, and 3 armed guards. Mixing: They can cause a massive riot.
I'm kinda late but whatever we'll treat this comment as just something thrown into ether. Safety becomes a problem when there aren't enough guards around or temperature is high. Temperature is high when prisoners or Staff are mad about something. Check needs of both and fix what needs fixing.
Sup i know it passed 2 years after you made this comment but ill help u, just fire some armed guards, for some reason they maje the security levels very unstable instead of estabilizing it. Hope it helped!
They’ve recently added “the cage” room which is like a one man yard. I haven’t found a way to implement it but that could definitely be the key to fulfilling freedom need whilst being locked up alone
Just leaning about the console keys (f1-9) I ended up adding a yard and common rooms with a kitchen built into the common room. They will cook for themselves.
Not sure if you are still making these tutorials (or reading comments) but a few suggestions to experiment with. -Have you checked if the guard towers have any affect on the escape paths? It would seem a cheaty way to reduce escapes would be to manipulate the exit routes so that it funnels the prisoners to a yard with a guard tower(s). You sort of did that wooden door tutorial with the labyrinth passed all the towers. -What effect does designations have on the escape routing? Anything different between staff only locations, different security zones or access only? -Also, is there any way to see preferred routes for staff? Its possible it is just the opposite of the escape paths. I hate when I try to add an access route to the outside of my prison for my dog patrols (so they don't have to go all the way out the front entrance and get tired on the way and turn around before they've done any patrol) and then my chef's and workers use it for their primary path.
HI Astro. I've just picked up Going Green and have Psych on, but am having difficulty getting the suppression balance right? Did you ever look at the suppression mechanic post-Psych Ward and how to balance it to reduce the risk of regular inmates turning insane? The mailroom and the mail satchels don't have a flag, but what about the letters after they're distributed to cells? I think looking at this we've been doing libraries wrong. I'm going to start adding tables and seating surrounded by shelves. The luxury need can now be handled by the new object "birdcage." I don't know if it was in Psych Ward at release or a hotfix, but it's there. The chapel stuff works outside the chapel for a buff to spirituality. The new "Secure door" item has a food delivery slot. I once tried giving all-in-one cells individual yards, which is an all-in-two and as close as I could get it.
Free time in their schedule, mainly. If they're cooped up in their cell too long they'll get unhappy. You can also provide arcade cabinets to boost their freedom need.
I'm pretty sure the drain you have in the first cell you displayed doesnt do anything. As far as I'm aware you have ot place them at the end of a shower area, in this case you'd need to do a square around it with drains for it to work.
you should do an updated version of this! great video, really informative.
The dead guy in the wall is hilarious, amazing tutorials my guy.

the safety need comes up when your danger level is too high for a long period of time

I love you. This is the type of Prison Architect tutorials I would love to see more of.
Do you have a reform programs tutorial by any chance?

My prisoners keep rioting even tho i got everything
How do you deal with bladder issues my prisoners are always complaining and I don’t know what to do
They need a toilet. You should always have one in their cell, but you can also place some in the yard so they can go in the middle of the day
Do prisoners watch tv on beds?
What helps provide freedom?
