I've been bodybuilding for over 43 years. After a string of surgeries in 2023, i pushed my calories up to around 4000/daily recently in an effort to regain lost muscle. I have a larger frame than Jackman, and a lot more muscle. I'll bet my left nut that he was nowhere near 8000 kcal/day. He'd be unable to film a scene because he'd constantly be crapping.
The late Greg Kovacs was the largest professional bodybuilder on record, at about 400 off-season pounds. I met him in 1993. Even he didn't claim to eat that much.
Yep. That made me shut off right there. Very simple fact that could have been caught before posting. And as above says not only that for the previous wolverine film, Logan, he was nothing like as big so the fact is wrong twice. Sloppy.
The reality is they’re probably on some form of peds, maybe trt, maybe lot more. Diet is still important, next training. Most people in the comment section who say “steroids or peds lol” probably don’t look great naturally and would still not look great on peds. It’s just an easy way for them to feel better about themselves
Here are the key insights from Thomas Delauer's discussion on the diet and fitness regimens of Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds: 1. **Hugh Jackman's Diet**: - Previously reported to consume up to 8,000 calories daily, likely exaggerated. - Current approach for the movie seems to involve a high-protein, low-fat diet, focusing on lean proteins and vegetables. - The diet resembles a "protein sparing modified fast," aimed at rapid fat loss while maintaining muscle mass. - Such a strict diet can lead to metabolic slowdown, making the body more sensitive to caloric fluctuations, particularly cheat meals. 2. **Ryan Reynolds's Diet**: - Trained by Don Saladino, who emphasizes "metabolic flexibility"-the ability to efficiently switch between burning fats and carbohydrates. - Avoids long-term calorie restriction, focusing instead on varying macronutrient intake based on situational needs. - Likely includes periods of low-carb intake and time-restricted feeding to enhance fat adaptation. - High protein intake is prioritized to support muscle preservation and growth. 3. **Comparative Analysis**: - Jackman's method is more aggressive and restrictive, suitable for quick fat loss but potentially risky for metabolic health if not managed carefully. - Reynolds's approach is more balanced and sustainable, focusing on maintaining high energy levels and avoiding metabolic slowdown. - Both actors prioritize high protein intake for muscle maintenance during fat loss. 4. **General Takeaways**: - The importance of protein in dieting, especially when aiming for body recomposition (simultaneous fat loss and muscle gain). - The benefits of metabolic flexibility in diet, allowing for a dynamic response to the body's energy needs. - The potential risks associated with extreme diets, such as metabolic slowdown and sensitivity to calorie variations. Overall, while both actors successfully achieved their fitness goals, the methods employed were tailored to their specific needs and the demands of their roles. The emphasis on protein and careful management of macronutrient intake are crucial elements in their training regimens.

I get it! I did PSMF last year to cut to a better weight. I was way too low on calories, so I'm gradually adding more. Healthy carbs have done wonders for energy and better workouts. I finally understand G-flux "eat more move more". Thx Thomas.
I have observed several of Hugh's workout videos, and it is evident that he would benefit from the guidance of a personal trainer to ensure proper form and technique during his exercises. By correcting his form, he could significantly enhance the effectiveness and safety of his workouts.
Anyone who eats 8000 calories a day will end up fat. No question about it. We have studies with hard data showing that the actual muscle gain when eating at a 10% calorie surplus compared to 20% or more is about the same, meaning that greater surpluses only lead to more fat gain. Even guys on roids would gain a substantial amount of fat with that big of a surplus. Jackman is lying about how much he ate and he was absolutely on roids.
@Mil891 similar to my comment stupid to put out such misinformation and dumb the guy in the vid dosn't even mention how idiotic it is to even suggest the guy was eating 8000 or even half that. Then people feel well only Hollywood actors can afford to eat like that or eat these "super foods"and afford to workout that much. Their are no special foods even if u just get your protien from canned tuna you will be fine the only way you can recover from lifting 10+hrs a week is steroids or your not training hard enough to see any results anyway. There is no magic program or magic foods, the closest thing to magic is gear
11:34 The term rabbit starvation originates from the fact that rabbit meat is very low in fat and, if consumed exclusively, would cause protein poisoning.
Also, a person had to be already at a very low body fat for the starvation to occur. If a person has high body fat, the body would have plenty of fat stores to live off of for quite a while. That has been proven by obese people who have fasted as long as a year.
Good afternoon Tom great detail in this diet plan and breakdown of their diets. Thank you for sharing all your knowledge with these videos I think this is the first or second time I've come in a couple years on them but they are good videos thank you for taking time to share them
its pretty easy once your health and your digestion and everything is dialed in, was extremely easy for me, but I did initially go a month or so on a strict low carb diet.
With Ryan Reynolds I'd say he is an easy client to train, he never gets bigger from his movies, he just gets into incredible shape at 7-8% bf. And with the building muscle part I'd say he is just gaining back lost muscle from training less after movies have finished, and muscle regain is really quick and easy so after the first 3 months of training he would regain all lost muscle mass and from there they just dial on the nutrition and get Ryan lean for his role as deadpool 💪
I’d say it’s a win. The fact that I can make quality content (with a killer watch time) without knowing exactly what their diet was. I’d like to see you try it
I’ve been working out for about a year. I still have a hard time understanding eating so many calories. I cut my calories to lose weight, so why would I turn around and eat three times as much calories while building muscle? I thought protein would be for muscle gain? Someone please explain. I’m still trying to understand it
8000 calories what? I have tried eating clean 5000 calories and it was super difficult. One meal was literally a hotpot buffet, loaded with nothing but beef and pork belly boiled in a clear soup (i think it was tonkatsu or some other soup), so no extra oils added to cooking. Just maybe a few extra calories to from the soup. Even eating 3000 calories from that was an uphill challenge. In the end I had to add some sauce to make up for taste fatigue which also add a bit more calories but it is not easy.
I disagree with juiced to the gills. This is a dude with an average physique and in 6 months doubles in size. You can even see it in the interviews he’s doing now, he clearly looks different from movie
Jackman was doing 8 Broadway musicals a week when he was bulking. So standard bulking rules prob not gonna apply. He stated it as up to 6K calories a day.
Considering Hugh jackman has kept the relatively same body type for many many years, he may have just been in great shape and used a bit of PEDs but he’s not taking enough to be as big as Chris hemsworth or the rock by any means. Definitely not on a body building type cycle either, he seems like he could be on TRT due to his age but nothing crazy like some other holly wood stars
Until they also disclose their supplement & drug stack, we cannot properly assess these diets; they are not the full picture and having or not having certain drugs will significantly change how human body reacts to that nutrition input.
First of all both of those guys have always been in great shape, and for their height and size are not that big even after doing all of that training. The only advantage they have is the ability to hire professionals to help them keep their food and training schedule on point, I am 51 and I still look the same way I did at 25 still train, heavy still have abs, biceps, etc.. But I can’t eat crappy food, like pizza, and french fries, etc. I have to stick to high protein and vegetables. Fiber is not necessary with higher fat. You want your body to absorb nutrients not pass it on thru which is what fiber does. It’s called “waste” for a reason.
@@derekhines1078 Exactly what I said. Low fat diets require fiber. High fats do not. Jackman was on a low fat diet from what it appears. I have done both. Eating low calorie on keto or carnivore wont decrease your metabolism. Eating high carb and calorie restriction decreases your metabolism massively. Because the body doesn't have much access to your fat with high carb.
Why would anyone undergo 60 minutes of high intensity weight training in a fasted state???!!! Doing that makes no sense physiologically, dumping stress hormones to break down protein for gluconeogenesis and creating insulin resistance for muscle and fat gain-probably favoring more fat in most cases. Someone please explain, with science.
I’ve noticed Thomas - you and Andrew Huberman both need to work on communication skills. You’re both very verbose to where it’s hard to actually understand the point you’re trying to get across. After 15 minutes all I gleaned was: they worked out fasted and ate more carbs after, they exercised 1hr a day x 5 days a week and may not have used testosterone supplementation at least for this movie
It's confirmed Wolverines jagged body is always been cgi though. Better walk around in the gym with a greenscreen shirt to make it look like you worked out as hard as Huge 😂
yea, i couldn't stop looking at it xD. i always think every health problem like that is diet related. i drink lots of water, use lip balm and make sure I am getting all my vitamins and minerals (i track 15 minerals and 13 vitamins for every food i eat to make sure i am getting at least the recommended intake). it started being lip cracking season here recently for me, but when i mentioned to my brother that my lips were a bit dry recently (i do hour long walks before the sun comes up, and it is really cold now) my brother said he has had that problem for months now. i barely got anything.

2. **Ryan Reynolds's Diet**:
- Trained by Don Saladino, who emphasizes "metabolic flexibility"-the ability to efficiently switch between burning fats and carbohydrates.
- Avoids long-term calorie restriction, focusing instead on varying macronutrient intake based on situational needs.
- Likely includes periods of low-carb intake and time-restricted feeding to enhance fat adaptation.
- High protein intake is prioritized to support muscle preservation and growth.
3. **Comparative Analysis**:
- Jackman's method is more aggressive and restrictive, suitable for quick fat loss but potentially risky for metabolic health if not managed carefully.
- Reynolds's approach is more balanced and sustainable, focusing on maintaining high energy levels and avoiding metabolic slowdown.
- Both actors prioritize high protein intake for muscle maintenance during fat loss.
4. **General Takeaways**:
- The importance of protein in dieting, especially when aiming for body recomposition (simultaneous fat loss and muscle gain).

These guys are super lean and look more muscular with the help of muscle-padded body suits. Its all an illusion.
Jealous much?
@@cherylfauth9543 no just telling it like it is.
@cherylfauth9543
jealous because they wear body suits? 🤷🤦
Eating low calorie on keto or carnivore wont decrease your metabolism. Eating high carb and calorie restriction decreases your metabolism massively. Because the body doesn't have much access to your fat with high carb.
pretty sure they are on trt at least. nothing crazy just a decent diet while keeping his test levels up.
I'm bulking right now. When I cut I just need Clenbuterol it is a very simple diet!!!!
Which other big name actors have you worked with?
How do you burn 4000 calories in a day?!
8,000!? Bro at 2,500 I gain bodyfat
He was on gear, however his physique 100 percent be achieve.
No way he was eating 8k cal a day without getting fat as, you cant out train that many calories and stay lean.
Why is Hugh Jackman’s diet such a secret?
Looks like you have a split lip. I've had the same for about 3 months. How are you taking care of it?
yea, i couldn't stop looking at it xD.
i always think every health problem like that is diet related. i drink lots of water, use lip balm and make sure I am getting all my vitamins and minerals (i track 15 minerals and 13 vitamins for every food i eat to make sure i am getting at least the recommended intake). it started being lip cracking season here recently for me, but when i mentioned to my brother that my lips were a bit dry recently (i do hour long walks before the sun comes up, and it is really cold now) my brother said he has had that problem for months now. i barely got anything.
It was Tilapia the kinda fish he’s eating
Thomas, you look amazing and better than, I want your diet, grocery haul and all the shit !
They didnt get that body naturally
No one claims naturally. It takes discipline and hard work.
@@cherylfauth9543 and roids
@@cherylfauth9543 I don't think you understand what "naturally" means in this context. 😂
8000 calories 😂 more like 4000
No way in fkn hell 8000 cals and that vascular
Probably around five to six thousand calories.
@@missiris1234 yes, I didn’t take steroids into consideration
He' never said 8k it was 6k and he was doing 8 stage musicals a week while bulking.
@@jaxr2958 that’s more believable since he is on some type of steroid
Most Likely Jackman is on gear.
