I just think about how once Taika is older, he will be able to watch these podcasts and see kinda what was going on during his early years. I can't imagine how hard it is for you guys to limit his diet, but eventually when he's older, he will appreciate all you guys are doing for him. You guys are doing a wonderful job

I remember being that age and I'll say this: My parents never said that they were having problems, but I felt it and I tried my best to be "independent" so they don't have to worry about me.
Your child loves you as much as you love them and even though the situation sucks, as a kid you would still try to ease your parents mind.

Homeschooling is awesome! We just do lots of sports, playgrounds, and the deeper friendships are with neighbors and cousins. Also, so much freedom! Kids can just be themselves instead of trying to fit in and be like everyone else.

It doesn’t matter if your childhood relationship is still ongoing, the friendship you made at that age helps you learn how to treat your friends. The way I treat or don’t treat my friends is because of the experiences I had in my younger years. Also teaches you that people will come and go in your life and you have to be okay with that too.

I'm Chinese and my mom used to be really strict with our diets when I was young. There were no sodas or artificially sweetened drinks, no chips, no processed snacks, no fast food available at home. But she would cook delicious nutritious meals. Snack time were healthy fruits or Chinese soup desserts (green bean/red bean soups, soy bean milk which were lightly sweetened). But she never cared what I ate when I was with my friends. I would eat all the junk I wanted outside when I was young but still look forward to eating her cooked meals. As I grew older, I actually gravitate towards healthy food and I rarely crave for junk food (except for boba). It was a really healthy balance and I grew to love to eat healthy at a really early age. I loved all my greens since I could remember.
Have been following you guys since Bart and Jo's Unco Chin and Unco Same days. I'm a mom of a 2.5 yo now and still loving your content! I love how honest and positive you guys are! Love from Singapore ❤

I know Bart and Geo are asking other parents with kids with seizures how they are managing it, but have they asked older people with seizures for advice? I’m sure someone who’s lived a decent life while having seizures can give different advice from the parents who are experiencing this for the first time themselves.

Ok so farm life…. 14 yrs ago my husband was deported to Mexico. I with my then 6 month old daughter followed him. And for my family it was the best decision I’ve ever made. On one side my family is together on the other side my kids get to be free to do kids stuff that they would never get to do in the U.S.. my kids ride bikes and come back home covered in mud and they come back with stories of how they went out bird hunting with their slingshots. Now my oldest two are 13 and 15 and I can say that they are enjoying their childhood.

@33:00 and on...by my informed deduction, I have concluded that Taika is a born innovator and scientist at heart☺️🥰☺️🥰
And it’s no wonder that he Loves the movie *Dennis the Menace*😁😁
Also, him being 5 and wondering whether a baby will grow out his tummy...he understands more than most at that age...scientist through and through 🥰
I think the way his mind works is helping him understand why his parents changed what he eats. He connected some of the dots; knowing they’re just trying to help him be and feel well.

There are so many keto snacks nowadays that you guys can find some fun and decent replacements for him! Real Good Foods for breakfast sandwiches, Mexican, and Italian foods, countless keto ice creams, Smart Sweets are good as long as he doesn't eat multiple bags and get GI issues. Fat bombs are bomb. You may not be able to keep it super clean 100% of the time but a nice treat once in a while should be ok and allow for a good balance.

Taika could be homeschooled up until the middle to latter-end of middle school; so (7th or 8th grade). And, while home schooled, do as Geo said and do extra-curricular activities.
This way he can solidify his foundation in his education, and then finish honing his social skills through middle & high school.

It’s so much easier when other kids aren’t eating junk food all the time and adults aren’t offering it all the time. But we live in areas (American cities) that normalize it so much. Kids in the countryside or kids in Thailand, etc. aren’t thinking about protein and amino acids when they are eating healthy food. They just eat what is available and what’s available isn’t horrible for their bodies.

Taika has been having seizures. The tests the doctors have done haven't really given them a lot of answers as to why. The doctors just keep adjusting the dosage of his anti-seizure meds; which isn't necessarily helping since he still had a seizure even after taking the medicine(like within a couple hours after a dose). And Bart and Geo were worried about the side effects of Taika being on so much medicine; he was at the highest dose for his age/weight. So they want to ween him off the medicine and find an alternative way to try to help control his seizures thru diet instead of medication. So Geo has been researching other ways that may work to help in a healthier way.

Lmaooo at the way they talk about "farm life" it sounded more like raising kids in the wild life. Just coz you were raised on a farm doesn't mean you don't get taught how to be a proper human. If anything, growing up in a farm it makes the kid more responsible and regimented. My husband grew up on a farm and it was hard work starting at dawn before school, then, breakfast, school and more farm chores after school. Every kid had their chores that had to be done every day. They learned team work and how to be responsible at a very young age, and then they grew up to be very responsible adults. Kids who grow up on farms are just all around healthier, since they would eat a lot more cleaner than city kids, and they are always active. I would love to raise my family on a farm!

Hello Bart & Geo! I don’t have a kid, but am the same age as Geo. I’ve been around my fair share of people who have kids and one of them always complained about the education system in the US. What intrigued me was she wished the US was more like Finnish schools. She wasn’t even Finnish herself (she’s a Korean parent). Kids don’t have to be in school until the age of 7 and their time at school is only from 9 - 2 for developmental reasons. Getting glimpses of Asian school systems being strict and stressful to the point of suicidal isn’t healthy, the American school system failing, I can see why she felt that way. With all the standardized tests, common core methods introduced in the 2010s, and exponential costs of attending universities that questions if college is worth it, I honestly feel if you have the means, opportunities, and most importantly benefits for Taika in his development at the times that’s right for him - do it. ❤

@@DemonFox369 ketogenic diets and non processed diets are not the same thing. Keto diets are designed to facilitate your brain to use ketones instead of glucose for energy. Typically your brains first energy source is glucose, but in a state of low glucose, your liver makes ketones from fat which your brain can metabolize. Non processed diets are vague and not research backed like keto diets for the prevention of seizures in treatment resistant patients. Homeschooling is so fun!! My kids actually love it way better than public school. I battled myself thinking I was cheating my kids and thought I would rob them of their experiences in school, I was so wrong!! We decided to homeschool because the school by us sucked! They can’t keep teachers, the teachers are not passionate about teaching like back in the day, plus the kids are exposed to some crazy shit as such a young age. We can travel, which they love, and they are more socialized than public school kids. They are in activities and we have friends and family that have kids their age and so they are always getting opportunities to hang out and play. It’s funny because if they act up I threaten to send them back to public school and they are like nooooo! Lol 😆

It was really telling of what kind of diet he was having. To be honest it would be best to start cooking healthy home cooked foods (eating out healthily is not really possible at many restaurants) for not only Taika but for yourselves too. Its a call to change your lifestyle with how you eat food which will be kind of hard and probably will require a mind shift with how you look at food but itll be good in the long run. Research eating healthy - whole foods, no vegetable oils, no corn syrup, low sugar diet, ect.
