It makes me want to cry. Such a beautiful and talented woman who couldn't escape the personal problems that eventually took her life. I live in Arkansas and this was all front page news when it happened.

She had her fun and used it with those we've heard of (Roger Clemens) and those we haven't heard of...Yeah it's sad but she had the world at her fingertips for 5 years. More than you or I will eva dream of so keep it in perspective, that is the life of elite celebrities who choose it so. I keep my tears in check for those whose stories are really tragic.

@@faustace3093I can agree with that in a way, but I still think she was kind of taken advantage of and wasn't strong enough to overcome her self destructive tendencies. Whether it was being bipolar or an addict. Just sad all the way around. She was talented and could have had a much longer career. It's still sad to me that she passed at 37 and left behind two boys.
I shed tears to and currently shedding some. She is so beautiful and her voice is so beautiful to. Miss her music. I wish things would of been better for her.

Please don't judge people with mental illness. They can't control it. Depression is like cancer, it slowly eats away a person until there is nothing left but pain . It starts with your mind then consumers the rest of you. They need help and compassion, not judgment.

Originally watched this by accident back in 1996 on MTV as a 23 year old lad, was absolutely captivated by it via her voice and beauty, such a bloody shame that she fell into decline and took her own life, wish that someone, anyone could have saved her. I listened to this song a lot during detox and early recovery. If you take the first line, "Speaking of the Devil, look who just walked in" as "The literal Devil just walked in", this song is a pretty good view of what it's like to try and get clean, but having that past constantly running you down. Sometimes it really does take 10,000 angels just to walk you out the door when the Devil comes around.
My sister is dealing with drug addiction right at this very moment. I hope and pray that you're where you need and deserve to be today, girl.

So sad to see all the sweet comments below.....if she only held on longer she could have learned how much she was loved and admired for her talent and heart. Her boys needed her....just goes to show mental illness can take anyone. Reach out to those you love....check on your friends. Make sure they know they are loved....even one person's outreach can make a difference. Believe me I know from personal experience.

Poor Mindy I wish she had someone looking over her that night . A good man or friend that could have saved her and got her back on the right path. She was loved and even though she couldn't see it she had a bright future & could have gotten her career back and even her kids in time. Sadly she choose a permanent solution for a short term problem. My Father took that same path in March 1999. He took his life over problems that would have worked themselves out if he just stepped back from them for a little while.....RIP Mindy McCready & EK you are both missed!

I’ve only been listening to Mindy’s music for a year but i cant seem to ever put if off for longer than a week. Knowing how her story ended makes these songs even sadder and gives them such a double meaning. This, “you’ll never know” and “maybe he’ll notice her now” are such haunting songs
