Reacting to Fitness TikTok (ft. Daisy Keech & Blogilates)!

- TikTok has boomed and everybody seems to be getting involved so I figured it would be a good idea to have a look at the fitness content being produced on this app (not just by known names such as Daisy Keech and Blogilates).
TikTok is a great platform for many reasons but it also risks helping the spread of potentially bad information or even leading to the oversimplification of information that can then be misinterpreted into false information. Here are some of my thoughts :)

Tired of people obsessing about "hip dips". It's right at a joint. It doesn't need to be round and pillowy and there's not really a muscle there that you can built enough to fill it out. It's purely bone structure and genetics and girls are getting BBL surgery to "fix" it when it isn't even wrong. Even more sad because BBL has the highest mortality and complication rate of all plastic surgeries.
I back this
Yesss🙌🏼
I am sure in few years people will be surgically creating it, when it's in.
I absolutely agree. I have grown to love my hip dips because imu because of it my body looks way more natural if you get what i mean and i like not being all smooth etc. I am no trying to encourage my friends to also start to appreciate their hip dips :)
I didn't even know hip dips were a "problem" until Tumblr 😳🙄 it's just genetics and they don't even look bad... I don't get it 🤷🏻♀️
''How to get rid of hip dips?'' Well, you could always take a saw and cut your own pelvis :))) Seriously, its the bone structure that decides weather you have them or not, you cant ''train them away''.
FACTS!
This channel deserves more love
I appreciate this a lot! Just gotta keep spreading the word and hopefully the love will come :)
I think a lot of ppl starting blogilates have never exercised prior. Thus they have very little muscle to begin with, which makes it burn when exercising. As long as they get moving, that's great. Any movement is good movement (as long as you don't injure yourself) 🤷♂️
There is also resistant, of your own weight. Obviously if you're past that stage of feeling that burn you need to upgrade to different weights and hit the gym. However, if you're an utter beginner and can't afford gym - it's at least a start.
I lost 20kg using over 3 months using her exercises, so there's definitely a time and place for everything.
I appreciate this, but some of the things she's doing I just can't get behind, unfortunately!
You do breath out the molecules that were part of the larger molecule stored as fat, but you also piss out water that was part of that larger molecule. Her analogy was overly simplistic.
Based on the oversimplification and her other content I think it may be safe to assume she wasn’t referring to metabolising fat cells the way we’d hope 😂
@@TFNL your explanation was overly simplisic too though?
@@alexandradunlop1409 Check ~12 comments down :) Tough times when you’re trying to condense 70 minutes of raw footage down to as close to 8 minutes as possible!
Correct. You do actually breathe out fat.
I know Blogilates for coming up with the 100-squats-a-day challenge, so I wasn't really expecting much...
I've heard about this...
100 abs for 30 days, gosh it was a mess
Just found this channel and I'm loving it man! You're so genuine and funny! Hope to have video making skills like you one day!
You literally motivate me so much to just jump on my Insta and drop some knowledge bombs on to ma peeps about how all these Tiktok trends are just nonsense and a waste of time and energy!!
So disappointing that these videos are allowed to be posted. There should be experts that review these before there allowed to air as this could really cause damage to the younger generation learning to get fitter 😞
Keep the videos up, more people need to see this!! X
This made me smile! Drop some knowledge bombs, you know I'm backing you :) It's tricky but unfortunately, these videos really tend to do well despite the 'iffy' information. I appreciate you
"My Lord, shambles!". That was gold. The headpiece was the capper. 😛
Haha, I'm glad that the video entertained you! :)
Always impressed with your message Harry. 👏
Thank you, Gail
😂😂😂 your face when she says you breath out fat!
I am a man of many expressions, haha!
Harry you should make tiktoks!!! Share good quality educational information in bite sized chunks
I was considering it but I don't know what sorta things people would like to see!
@@TFNL you could do a series on dispelling myths as a starting point. you offer great tips within your videos, but they are sandwiched in with a load of satire, and rarely the main theme of the video. People always want to learn and there is so much contradictory info out there it’s hard to know what to believe. when you are young and desperate (to look a certain way) you will believe whatever is most appealing, and whoever looks good! I wish I had one good source I could have trusted to learn about fitness without so many failures and fads. Would have saved 14 y/o me the heartache of not getting abs after a week of a hundred sit-ups every night 🤣 I started becoming more educated through YT, but kids these days don’t necessarily have that attention span to sit through hours and hours of videos. Just market yourself as no bs fitness and it would be a great business move for TFNL because you could drive a lot of traffic to your UA-cam channel as well!
@@pinkpantherofthesouth1855 This is actually such a great idea! Driving traffic to UA-cam would be a great thing so I appreciate this suggestion a lot, thank you! I best start thinking about how I can do this well :)
Love the headband!! Great video
I can't with the sausage thing 😂
I may have made a mistake including that story...
This NEEDS more views
Spread the word! :)
A slippery sausage. Perhaps a side raising snag. Or a capped cabanossi, or even a heavy breathing spicy meatball.
Heavily breathing spicy meatball finished me, haha!
This was SO fun to watch!! I have been watching your content for the last 4-5 months and this older video was recommended. The message is so consistent, but the delivery seems more gentle now. If you happen to see this comment and feel inclined to respond…I wonder- why did you make the change?
Thank you! Change to a more gentle delivery? I think I just became more comfortable in front of the camera and settled into my natural rhythm with it :)
is it getting obvious that i'm binge watching your videos and kind of stalking you xD. Awesome content!!! keep going
Haha, I love it! Thank you so much
The blogilates video where she's getting rid of bat wings with the bottle of wine- OMG HER HINGE WAS TERRIBLE! Locked knees, no hinging back (basically just bowing forward and putting all the load on her back) omg I hope nobody else actually follows that exercise!
Also, the actual disposal of adipose when you "burn fat", is through the breath :P Not that breathing burns fat, but that is how it is disposed of after it has been used in terms of the chemical mechanism from what I've found
Blogilates blocked me after this video :(
You are correct, but the manner in which it was explained in the video was oversimplified and came across like the creator was almost implying that you could ‘breathe out fat’ by essentially hyperventilating rather than delving into greater detail surrounding the process involved. I probably should’ve verbalised that better at the time 😂
@@TFNL Being blocked by blogilates is probably a win haha good job!
Okay yeah I definitely agree that they made it sound like "breathing makes you burn fat" and I've even shared it in fitness groups and people are like "I'm just gonna huff and puff all the time now!" so it's not very easily digested information aha
@@hairyfrankfurt Haha, I'll take it as one! Explanation is so important, especially on TikTok :)
Keep up the good work. Binged a bunch of your content today.
Thank you for tolerating my content, Brittany! :)
Happy birthday xxx keep preaching 🙏💪🏽
Thank you so much! :)
Slippery sausage is such a cute nickname! Tell your mum and puppy I said hi!
Oh no, haha! I will :)
happy belated birthday! omg your reactions are hilarious! love this series!
Thank you! I shall do them more often :)
I mean, the CO2-part isn't entirely incorrect. The glycerol backbone of triglyceride fats is modified and enters the Krebs cycle, in which it is eventually broken up into CO2. But The fatty acids themselves are not converted/ broken down like that. But hey, there's some truth in it, at least.
Also: Doing my part to ensure I one day get to keep your nose hair.
I mean, based on the oversimplification and her other content I think it may be safe to assume she wasn’t referring to metabolising fat cells the way we’d hope 😂 I’ll give you a nose hair with or without a like
@@TFNL well, from what I heard I would actually give her the benefit of the doubt and say that she used that "explanation" as the basis for saying that heavy breathing should be seen as motivational, not something bad. After all, you can imagine your fat being burned. However, you seem to have looked at her a bit more thoroughly, so maybe I am giving her too much credit.
Too late, I liked it before having watched it all. Nothing you can do about it.
@@marcwittkowski5146 Perhaps, although I feel an oversimplification of anything can sometimes do more harm than good which I fear to be the case here! Haha, I’ll get a box for you to preserve the nose hair 😂
when ever i see blogilates all i can think about is greg douchet doing one of her arm workouts lol, seriously tho why is she still popular?!?!
I remember this, haha!
Have you ever tried her arm or any other workouts? Do them and you will know why.
@@deekshanautiyal4371 wiggling your arms around for 15mins isnt gonna do anything, youd get a better workout mopping the floor, come on now use your big brain!
I have been doing her workouts for past one year and they have worked. I can totally see the definition in my body. I do weights, yoga and Pilates and don't believe in making fun of any workout as long as it isn't harming me. Yes, I have used my BIG brain and pulled me out of bulimia. Don't diss anyone without trying.
And mopping the floor mainly works my legs, coz in India we do it while squatting down. I think that might be a personal preference though.
What a smart unicorn you are :) I love watching your videos as I do cardio
Thank you! :)
Bingeing your vids today to get some saucy content for the day 😌
And for that, I appreciate you! Thank you
Some of these were very funny lol. But I liked that the one girl gave facts about how to grow the booty. It's true. I also didn't know that about hip dip workouts - so I definitely learned something new there.
Looks like you forgot to give credit to the incredible human that got you that stunnnnnning headband. Is forgetfulness a well known trait of a slippery sausage?
I feel attacked
@@edwarddadd5594 you mention romance and Harry’s immediate response is he feels attacked.. this should tell you everything about how it’s going 🙃
Wellp, now I’ve gotta subscribe. Thanks for calling out the BS
Thank you! I appreciate you :)
what do u think about hula hooping as a form of cardio or just as a workout in general? ive started doing it and i rlly like it
If it gets you moving and you can stick to it, then keep it up :)
I feel like I've learned so much from this!
This makes me very happy! I'm glad that you found it useful :)
Where are you from? Just saw a meme from South Africa on you vid
I'm from the UK!
3:10 does this woman know how anatomy and physiology works? 🤔
Technically she wasn’t wrong, she merely oversimplified things! :)
You are looking gorgeous, Harry!
You are too kind! Thank you :)
3:08 the reaction I can’t-😂😂
The stare, haha
3:50 no she is kinda right the adipose tissue does shrink but it used to contain lipids (fatty triglycerides for storage in particular) and when those fats are burned through ketosis, or elsewise used in the mitochondria, they get broken down and oxidated into co2. That's why you exhale excess carbon compared to what you intake. You breath in O2, and exhale CO2. The extra carbon comes from the sugars in your blood, which are burned due to the lipids being released from your adpiose tissue. There are extra steps and she's not really covering it in an accurate way, but the release of fat from their stores in fat cells indirectly leads to more CO2 being exhaled.
I agree, I covered this about 15 comments down :)
Hello Slippery Sausage
:(
Slippery sausage ? From what I hear on the streets you don’t waste time with lube, hence your real nickname “The chafing chipolarter”
By the way Hazzer, the deltoid muscle does indeed have medial fibers.
I was your 96th like.
God damm what a rush !
The was horrendous 😂 Get off Simply Shredded, nobody outside of bro science forums refers to it as the ‘medial delt’ haha
What do you recommend for those with arched feet? My flat shoes are starting to hurt my feet because they’re so flat. Insoles?
Insoles are usually a good first step to take! Perhaps speak to a professional about insoles and see what they say?
a little late, but in case you´re still looking for a reply, i´m a ballerina, have arched feet as well and i´d recommend going to a specialized medical shoes stores and ask for insoles for your feet. the staff in those stores is usually educated and will help you find an insole for your specific foot shape. alternatively, if it causes you a big pain, you could go to an orthopaedic specialist. but definitely don´t wear flat shoes, it already hurts now, but it´s gonna cause wayyy more problems in the future. human feet are typically not flat and neither should shoes, but it´s easier and cheaper to make them that way :/
lol, if you breathed out fat then dogs would all be shredded from that panting bro
Wish I was shredded
Happy belated Birthday!
Thank you! :)
Unicorn ears and smart round glasses 🥳🥳🥳
Breathing out fat !!!😂😂😂😂
I know I'm a bit late to the party but I was kind of confused by the breathing out fat comment. Yes the fat cells just shrink no doubt about that. The content that is removed from the fat cells is mostly exhaled though. The energy is metabolised and used to compensate for the caloric deficit and the by-product of that is mainly CO2 which is exhaled. No? I am totally open to being wrong here but just not sure where.
Hello! I appreciate you watching the video :) You are indeed correct, but the manner in which it was explained in the video was oversimplified and came across like the creator was almost implying that you could ‘breathe out fat’ by essentially hyperventilating rather than delving into greater detail surrounding the process involved. I feel that perhaps I should’ve verbalised that better, which is my fault!
@@TFNL no man I think you made the video as a mix of entertainment and education and what you said is totally true! Thanks for replying I've been enjoying your videos so far and look forward to more great content!
@@n0_brain_n0_problem You’re too kind to me and I appreciate you! Thank you ❤️
I think she meant well. Most people do not understand cell metabolism and biochemisty. That is ok, they are good at other stuff. Videos on tick tock are supposed to be short. I do not see how she can explain it all in 15 seconds. I mean this is why tick tock is so stupid. I think that she wanted to say that if you are during excersise you breath harder. It is still better then "sweating out the fat".
whats a good channel for people who are like grandma level of fitness? i checked out the caroline you recommend and she seems too intimidating for complete beginners?
Nor gonna lie when I first saw the video of breathing out fat I actually believed it =/ I know I know I was naive
In fairness, it's not actually incorrect but it was very oversimplified which is tricky!
I thought you weren't supposed to use a blackroll thing on your lower back
Depends who you ask!
Yes, medial deltoid is still the correct term. Anatomy is still in Latin. Even if most people don't bother saying it that way.
Much appreciated!
Disagree on the "you breathe out fat" one. The point of the Tik Tok wasn't to tell people that they can literally loose fat by breathing quicker, but that throwing up and inducing diarrhea won't help much in reducing already existing fat (unless it puts you in a big caloric deficit of course). The actual cell organelles won't just leave, but the fat storages are eventually going to be metabolized to mostly CO2, so it's not even terribly wrong. A slight simplification to help defy some very harmful lies a lot of young girls are being fed.
Is that a ‘slight’ simplification though? Granted, you can assume positive intent, but to counteract harmful content there should be more information, not less. Otherwise it comes back to being harmful again.
Based on the content I’ve observed since from her other platforms, I feel this may not necessarily be a question surrounding oversimplification but actually one that surrounds lack of personal understanding. From what I’m seeing, I don’t think she was referring to metabolising fat cells the way one may hope...
I’m American, and I struggle so much to understand his accent. 😭😭
It’s not that strong, is it?! 😂
@@TFNL as a foreigner i understand it completely, don’t worry 🤣

@@TFNL fellow Brit here so may be bias, but your accent is so mild! I'm from Yorkshire so my accent is surely harder to understand, and I've literally taught English to Syrian refugees with no issues with them understanding my accent.

In fairness to her, she oversimplified things but isn't technically wrong (covered about 16 comments down) :)
I mean you could be breathing out fat indirectly, so she is not completely wrong. CO2 comes from breaking down the macronutrients and extracting the energy from them. Her statement is just way too over simplified, and can be misleading I guess.
Absolutely! I addressed this in one of the comments below :)

How did daisy grow her glutes then? Genetics? She’s super lean
Genetics certainly play a huge part in people's physiques, but no doubt she resistance trained consistently for years too! Many influencers imply that they achieved their results by doing their marketed workouts but that's often not the case, unfortunately
@@TFNL absolutely. Did she get a little work done then? Or stores fat in good places...
@@elizabethbell8872 I really can’t comment on whether she’s had work done as I’m unsure! I think genetically her body probably stores fat in more favourable places in addition to her having built a good foundation of muscle, especially in the areas she may have placed greater emphasis on :)
In some sense u could say u are breathing out some of the products of fat. Cellular respiration which is where co2 comes from in people technically can be from braking down fats
You actually DO breathe out fat. Yes it's a fact, and it's science-based. There's actually a TED talk about it called "the mathematics of weight loss" where he proves it.
