A ton of media actually show perfectly fine how hellish war is. I would argue black lagoon actually isnt that good at it because most of the time its just shown to be bad ass which is fine of course, it's a great show anyway.

The amount of respect i have for Roberta is crazy, she is such a great character. And the music, chefs kiss. But besides the absolute killer Roberta, she is such a kind woman at heart.
Man, I love the atmosphere this show creates. There are no innocents in it except for some kid and his naive maid. But everyone else is scum with some sympathetic qualities, hell even the protagonist is slowly turning into a scumbag. I don't know why, but its a refreshing change from all the hero anime where everything is happily everafter with a certainty that good will always triumph. In this, there is no good, there's only bad guys and slightly less bad guys and all with their own goals, a little bit like how Game Of Thrones used to be before it abandoned the books.
When the american soldiers showed up and this music started playing that was one of the most awesome scenes ever, Black Lagoon actually got me to watch an OVA! Well done!
Never watched the show but I like what they did with this classic. When Johnny Comes Marching Home has always been one of my favorite old war songs and has always filled me with a sense of patriotism.
For some reason when they first revealed that the US was getting involved I imagined hundreds of troops being deployed. But now that I think about it, a small squad of elite soldiers proved better.
How Roberta's blood trail ended is quite sad Roberta seeks revenge and comes back without fully getting revenge and losing her left arm, right leg, right aye and two fingers
I Believe she killed most her targets tho. And she lived thats all there is to it. Not so happy ending but its the happiest ending in all the arc in Black Lagoon.
This always makes me chuckle, because in English this is a war song, but in my native language, Finnish, this same melody is used for a children's song about Captain Hook. Somehow I've always thought this to be very fitting, since the show is about modern day pirates.

Contrary to popular belief she isn't a cyborg from the future and having that many professional soldiers fighting back, she was bound to get shot up. She's ridiculously tough but not literally made of steel so the anime remembered that she was fighting veteran soldier not street thugs. If she was invincible this would have gotten dull rather fast.

The irony also being Roanapur was merely a stop over at a safe house not an attempt to clean house; that was merely incidental when Roberta exposed them. And it turns out a different US organization was already there.

I just love this composition. I like the song less than I like the instrumental version. I don't know why, I just really like it. It just has that certain powerful feel to it.
They hardly get whipped, considering Roberta fucks up everyone she encounters and the US soldiers get out mostly intact that's fairly impressive. I actually liked the portrayal of the soldiers, most anime either has the US as saviors or evil/incompetent. This ova presented them in a far more believable fashion.
