Helped a lot. I had to nudge my AC line back a bit and remove the upper timing belt cover but perhaps my engine wasn't able to get lifted high enough. Great video. Thanks for taking the time to share.

Other than support the engine with a jack under the oil pan with a piece of wood, do you need to take the bolt(s) off for more than one engine mount location? Other videos mentioned second place near the front center.

How did you get the tensioner pulley off? When I try to turn the nut counter clockwise it simply rotates the tensioner? Do I need to pin the tensioner back and then continue trying to turn the pulley nut counter clockwise? Or is it reverse threaded?

@@icepick859 Do you need to take engine mount bolt(s) in more than one engine mount? Other videos mentioned a second place near the car's front center.

This matches my '04 Saturn Vue V6 as well. The only problem is I can not get the bolt for the tensioner pulley wheel to come loose to remove it.
I can't find a spot to keep the tensioner from moving either. I wish I had a garage, NY winters outside are a killer
Tensioner pulley is reverse threads, Loosens to the right not left. I bought a pack of 10 bearings on ebay for $13. and pressed in a new bearing with my press so I don't have to buy a new one from auto zone for $20-$35.
@@richardschmidt1989 yes, tried that, the bolt won't budge. I ended up working around it to get my alternator off. But thanks for sharing, appreciate it.

I got the old alternator out but I can't get the new one to bolt in
Another Vue video mentioned a sleeve/washer push-out in the outer hole for the lower mounting bolt.
Exactly that was Hayes Auto Repair but he didn’t say much on how to do it. He’s the only one that mentions this crucial part of this install.
What you do is spray some lube (WD-40) on the sleeve where their bottom part of the alternator bolts up and then get a pair of channel locks and on the side you can see get a socket big enough to cover the sleeve hanging out and grip both sides with the channel locks and push til that sleeve pops over towards you. It’s pretty easy after that.
Also no one mentions the bottom part of the clip that connects to a spot below the alternator that’s hanging off the wiring.

@@ReneTheMechanic where do you put something to hold back the tensioner pulley to get the alternator out
@@kaylaalec203 There is special hole there just for the purpose. It will force the tensioner in place to remove and install drive belt. I use a 6 mm L-shaped Allen wrench with long arm.
Definitely NOT easy
