Even after nearly 15 years as a professional beauty writer, I still get excited when a new fragrance comes my way. I used to believe in having a signature scent, but as I’ve matured I much prefer having a fragrance arsenal to suit my mood, the seasons, and a given occasion.
Maison Louis Marie’s new No. 14 Icila Eau de Parfum has a clean, sleek aesthetic, yet still manages to feel classic simultaneously. Icila opens with a bright, fruity burst of citrus and jasmine that elevates my mood and feels like a crisp spring morning. I wouldn’t hesitate to wear this to the office any day of the year because the sillage, while present, is quite minimal, so you won’t be leaving a fragrance trail everywhere that you go.
The EDP mellows quickly, and I have to hold my wrist quite close to my nose to catch the heart notes. The hints of honey from the osmanthus are very subtle, and the scent skews powdery within 10-15 minutes…but not in a grandma’s sweater kind of way.
Closing Thoughts: No. 14 Icila EDP is much easier to wear than a lot of florals because of its balance. It feels sophisticated instead of cloying, and the soft creamy finish wears well in warmer weather, too. Also, if you like layering scents and have a warm vanilla fragrance in your arsenal, this layers beautifully. 5 stars.
