Dear Bill: Thank you so much for posting all these performances. You were the only one lucky enough to be present when they were played and recorded! Please, please keep them coming.
I was at this show. It was amazing. That almost made up for the fact that I, and about 100 other motorcyclists who parked their bikes outside on the super wide sidewalk, all went home with really expensive parking tickets.
Improvising makes each performance completely unique, and gives the audience a chance to experience a moment in time that no one else can. (Provided that it wasn't recorded.) This must've been when Trey first got his Warr Guitar.
Bill, each performance you post is like a gift that I’m thankful to receive! Your music means so much to all of us. Please keep posting!! Thank you for all you’ve done for the world of music.
I was there as well. Longacre Theatre. I have a recording i made of that show which came out surprisingly well. Though i'm not quite sure where it is right now. LOL!
I friggin love the jazz beats Bill would put in THRAK among many other things. Been obsessing over the album since 2018, and the EP version of the song is an admirable beast of its own class.
THRaKaTTaK was my first purchase of the '90s era band. Mine did not come with the promised free poster. My first 10 attempts at finishing the CD ended in failure, but kept ThraKCing away at it until it was THaKCKed into my skull. Highly edited improvisational beauty, only to be bettered by the highly edited improvisational ProjeKCt 3 disk.
So this is when Pat comes to slip in underneath Bill and eventually take the position, still, this makes it so clear that Bill’s playing is unlike any other drummer, aside from the obvious snare. That’s the magic part.
Absolutely love the brooding and dark nature of this performance, it's full of live improvisation but at the same time, it packs a hell of a punch as only King Crimsons can deliver.
Bill's snare tone is immaculate here. The whole band sounds mixed perfectly, in tune, which is rly important when playing the dissonant stuff. Adrian's screwdriver hit just the right texture, amplitude dialed in. Wonderful
This being the first track from the 6-piece King i really like. It grasps back to the beginning days of King Crimson, flowing between prescribed structure and improvisation. Really good, and thank you for the fine explanation.
There was something quite magical about this line-up. It is a shame that it recorded only one album. Thrak however is a brilliant album and pivotal in the continued evolution of The Mighty Crim!
I went to a live concert in 1995, though in Nagoya, Japan🇯🇵🎉🎊 That was my 2nd concert of King Crimson. In 2022, I bought a ticket, but I counldn't go because of my bad health😰😰 Anyway, 1995 King Crimson is my most favorite❤️❤️ Bill Bruford & Tony Levin IS my must🎵🎶🎛️
Que magnífico tema, como siempre sus Conciertos son grandiosos"..!! Gracias totales desde valpo. Chile....!! Un abrazo abrazo.. Y aun los esperamis en Valparaíso "....!!!!!
I liked how in the middle of song, the band decided to check the tuning on their instruments and maybe play around with some alternate tunings while creating sonic organized chaos.
The stage itself was dark, especially around Robert. He only really revealed himself to wave goodbye at show's end. Something to do with his headspace at the time? I was at one of these shows, and the darkness is one reason that I have so little visual memory of it.
always wondered if the band kept the 5 against 7 thing in mind for the improv - never really sounded like it, and the description pretty much confirms no
¿Me pueden decir qué grupo de Rock Progresivo logró mantenerse con éste nivel hasta la actualidad? Tengo presente el oxigeno dado por las nuevas incorporaciones.
Dear Bill: Thank you for all the epic drum work from yes, abwh, earthworks, and King crimson! And I heard you drummed at the tribute to John Wetton as well. How did it feel to be behind the drums again?
Using a cordless drill instead of a plectrum! (And why not?) Stage hands need to be careful what they leave hanging around as Mr Belew & Co are likely to incorporate it into their set, especially when they are freeform improvising. Man, I f**king love this band! I swear, sometimes they are so heavy they can bend light.
Silly question maybe, but Bill if you ever read the comments. Do you recall what ride cymbal you used on Music for piano and drums? Best regards, Pieter
I only need Bill, I don’t need multiple drummers stepping on him and I don’t need Trey stepping on Robert, this is where I kind of checked out. I love minimalism I don’t appreciate this at any level, sorry.

Let's not forget about Tony Levin! ❤
The Greatest,Best bass player alive today. Ever! ❤

This makes it easy to see why you left Yes to join King Crimson in the first place. Brilliant performance of the whole collective here.
Thank you for uploading this! I missed being able to see Adrian play guitar with a hand drill 😂
Wow. The density of the writing from Bill as an explanation itself is amazing. Let alone the music itself! Which is also amazing.

Masterful mayhem!
A *huge* thank you for the value-adding extra insight into the 'process' (if we can call it that).
Saw this tour in NYC, one of my top 5 favorite live experiences.
I was there as well. Longacre Theatre. I have a recording i made of that show which came out surprisingly well. Though i'm not quite sure where it is right now. LOL!
The Dinosaur reprise record! A welcome return of the King, tho darker & noisier than the color trinity records
I love this album.

I saw this in Detroit!

YES!!!!!
No, it's King Crimson
@@antonmilius5197 LOL I just got that. 😲😲
@@exeromusic ok, I admit that I was a bit of smartpants. at least, both bands have had the same great drummer 😉

Great musical description! Helped my journey.
i went to this Warfield gig, best God blessed King Crimson concert i ever been to...
Outstanding...... Long live the music of King Crimson!!!!
All that sonic mayhem going on, but you still can clearly hear Bill's snare drum.
Ha! Yes.

Really good, and thank you for the fine explanation.
I saw this in Toronto. I think it was called Massey Theatre. Awesome.
Massey Hall. Since 1894, one of the finest music venues in North America.
@@fabrikk60heard the acoustics in Massey are off the charts...
Just discovered this channel and I love your comments Bill. Keep them coming!

Amazing. Seen this live in Anaheim, CA. Will never forget it. I like it!
Very insightful description, it adds so much more value to the music I love.

This is why King Crimson are so great. They have never been afraid to work without a net.
Thank you so much Bill, it is such a marvel..
Thanks Bill, great explanation of the music.

A MONSTER of a track!!!
A dense nightmare. Sheer insanity. Love it.
De mis favoritas de king crimson
WOW. One INTERESTING EXPERIMENT 😮
Great video.
I liked how in the middle of song, the band decided to check the tuning on their instruments and maybe play around with some alternate tunings while creating sonic organized chaos.
WHY OH WHY are all the 90's era double trio videos SO DARK????
The stage itself was dark, especially around Robert. He only really revealed himself to wave goodbye at show's end. Something to do with his headspace at the time? I was at one of these shows, and the darkness is one reason that I have so little visual memory of it.

Dynamics.
Crème de la crème ...
I wonder if you could have experimented more with the theme part of the performance.

So this was the double trio?
Who was making piano sounds?
Belew via MIDI
I just can’t get into it too industrial and I just love Crimson up to Three of a Perfect pair . Brufords early solo albums ..

Like burning the ether to get to some forboding station.
