King Crimson, from start to finish, was the best band ever! I have come to that conclusion, given the variety, and excellence, of their output. They and Zappa are in a class of their own.
@@sergepailler7254 Interesting idea. But I don't think it would have gone so well. Two very talented and strong personalities with different approaches. Guitar-wise, Zappa was limited to soloing over a pedal point with maybe three changes. (He had a sitar player approach when it came to soloing). Not a criticism just the way he was. It would have straight jacketed Robert severely. Compositionally? Zappa was more into a dada style of shifting gears for a wild ride. Fripp has more of the minimalist Steve Reich approach - something that Zappa said he never cared for. IMHO, I just don't see it.
I remember this show very well. I was lucky to be working with Roxy Music on their Avalon Tour (UK & Europe) & these guys were our support band for some of it. Absolutely incredible!! 🎸 Mr Fripp, apart from being a legend was an absolute gentleman & really nice guy. I consider myself really lucky to have worked with these people. 😎❤️
I feel so grateful to have seen this band. As a young cynical musician full of disdain for 80's radio, hearing KC actually get played was like an earthquake. I had hopes that they would somehow continue on and shake it up. But alas. The plan was only 3 albums. The moral? SEE great bands live when they happen. You never know. Oh... and don't expect much from corporate radio regardless. Thanks for the gift to humanity Robert! ❤
Ooo! I will have to tune in. The BEAT show live was amazing! Brought me right back to when those albums were new... when you bought vinyl and didn't always know what you'd hear until you got home and put it on your turntable! Boy was I surprised going from Red (which I knew) to Discipline (which I'd never heard). [mind blown]
I have been a fan since the summer of 1970 and have seen every Crim incarnation multiple times from 1973 up until Bruford’s departure. Been to all the 90’s HMV meet and greet signings. Also the fairly recent Belew, Levin and Mastellotto Crimson Projects as well as Beat@Kings Theatre Brooklyn, NY on 12/8/24 which was outstanding. This upload is a treasure and in excellent image and sound. Long live King Crimson
My Goodness, what a great show, what a great performance! I'm so glad that this film (the existence of which I had not been aware of) is now available, because I never had the privilege of attending any one show by the greatest band of all time, in any one of its incarnations! Long live King Crimson!
What a brilliant idea, thank you very very very much for letting us hear this "live" after 42 years ❤❤❤ I do think it's good and remains consistent, I like it! 😊
Hello everyone! What a fantastic surprise for Christmas! If anyone in the Chicago is interested, I am going to be part of a KC tribute show on 3-13-24 at the Montrose Saloon. I'll be playing and singing Matte Kudasai amongst other songs. Please come check it out! It's already shaping up to be a great show!
Damn that band was something else. I saw them 3 times on the US 82 tour, and every time it was out-of-body experience. You can really see the joy on their faces in this video (well, except Robert...). Waiting Man was such a perfect opener that the recent Beat tour went with it again.
Always liked Belew more as a guitar player than vocalist/lyricist. Despite that I don’t know how King Crimson would’ve gone on without him. Great 3 album run unlike anything ever made. His energy kept it together
It was so short, I felt like dull and left alone when they finished after 45 minutes. But it is still maybe the best show I've ever experienced in my life!
I have to say that i always preffered the 72-74 group. And that i like very much the jazzy feeling of the 70-71 group. This one is a kind of "poppy", but is also a great band!
Larga vida a Crimson.
This performance blew my mind! When I was young with nothing to really reflect on, yet; this band was lost on me. Right now, I completely get it and it’s beautiful.
The slit drum is a ingenious percussion........ they came out of Africa and it gradually came to the Forefront in the early eighties with Bill bruford and I think it influenced a lot of people to seek a slit drum including myself. I remember getting one for my birthday in 11th grade in 1993 and it's been near and dear to my percussive and drumming experience and my heart all the while. That little piece of wood has helped develop my percussive signature and it's helped me create myself a larger palette for my drumming Ventures
Man that was fabulous. Saw the first show of their 1982 US tour. I've loved all three versions of this band that I've seen, including the last one in 2022. Fave lineup that I saw was the Starless tour
I have a premonition that this will be a great concert
It was.. I was there.. 😎🎸
You have a clear window into the past which is the future.
And………IT WAS!!!! Bammm
🎯
Music was in the place, as Fripp would say...
More officially available King Crimson is always a good thing.
This has been available for almost 9 years!
@@steverickenbacher7110I mean on UA-cam and actually uploaded by King Crimson. I know this concert has been available for awhile.

Agree. I love them both. The funny thing is how different the worlds of Zappa and KC are. I suppose it's about authenticity. It shines through.
It would have been interesting to see Zappa and Fripp working together.
K.C. & Frank Zappa.... The TOP OF THE MUSIC for me❤

Adrian Belew should be recognized as one of the most unique guitar players ever, he don't get enough credit
Doesn't
I think he is

The whole band is killing it in Indiscipline. What an energy!!! And Mr. Belew is at the top of his game!
Still is.
The Kingest Crimson of all times IMHO!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
My favorite generation of King Crimson
Pure poetry. Well coined.
Wow. The audio is top quality for this one! The mix is so damn clear!
I always love the roadies at 9:30 who resemble Bruford and Belew in a weird way.
😂😂😂
Omg , caught that, I thought the hip swing on bill was always funny but you nailed it here
hahaha
This is making my Christmas really RED.
wow this is wonderful Christmas gift!

THANK GOD!! The 4:3 aspect ratio version - a welcome upgrade to a killer gig!
I saw them in Milan 1982. Great concert. As the last piece they played Larks' tongues pt.II

Definitely my favorite lineup!
I am late to the party and man what a party! I was in short pants and reading comics in '82 I cannot get enough King Crimson. Hail to the King!
masterpiece, Robert Fripp is a musical genius. love it..❤

Just got Beat on first pressing a couple days ago and I’m still in the mood for some 80s King Crimson. Can’t wait to watch this!
NOT the full show!
Adrian playing an Ibananez Roadstar II. at the time it was an "off the rack, japstrat" that cost all of $200. I owned one and wish I still had it

Saw Ade and TLev as Beat a couple months ago. Highlight of my life to hear these songs live. Had goosebumps the whole time. Thanks, boys! Cheers
This is the first Time I saw Crimson.... and this has been ingrained in my head since '83. Insanely Impressive.
This is a real treat, so well filmed and mixed. Thank you!!

thank you very much / gracias :))) ... perhaps one of the very best + dynamic formations of EL REY CARMESI !!!
I got to witness King C. with double drummers, double guitars, and double bass in the 80's. SIMPLY INCREDIBLE !
