    I think the best part of what Hikaru is doing is that by playing these joke openings, he's forcing his opponents to think outside their comfort zone immediately. Whereas, because he keeps practicing them in his streams, Hikaru is much more comfortable working through the handicaps he gives himself.

    • @azerim2039
      @azerim2039 9 місяців тому +196

      And while after the opening he is -0.5 on the board, he is +2.0 in the mental game.

      @@azerim2039So I should do quite well against Magnus, I don't prepare and mostly play instinctively besides basic openings since I usually end up paired against a 200 using early queen crap (because I'm 300 in 5 min blitz lol).
      I would get him out of his comfort zone by being unpredictable and nonsensical. Really I should sue him for 100 million.

      It's just like in "Highlander" the movie " "there can only be one", when it comes to that term. G.O.A.T, literally stands for greatest of all time. Implying there can be multiple is really a misnomer unless you are more specific. Like bullet chess goat or classical chess goat for example

    Chess… if you think about it every single aggressive opening or tactic is just disrespectful because you just say I will ruin my defense and atack you. (The thing is that the tiniest little mistake will kill the attacker)

      The whole idea of respect in chess is false, it is an ego (pride) thing. There is defiance and risks, cost and rewards. Chess is a game, and fun is a critical component of it, without that it loses most (if not all) purpose.

    Thank you for the visit to Crazytown. That last game might be familiar to UK players as 'Thompson's Hippopotamus' although Spassky, Petrosian and other Russian players opened with versions of this opening. I had it against JC Thompson himself in the 70s and was had me on the ropes when JCT made a Queen sacrifice as if from nowhere. The team captain gave me a copy of JCT's thin book on it, which helped me win next time. I then abandoned it after a few tries in speed games, not being Hikaru.
