The episode when a bunch of women all exited Flair’s limo and Scott Steiner said “Who are are all those ugly b!tches?” The Limo driver said “Property of Mr Flair” Steiner replied “That explains all the ugliness.”🤣
Me, my pops, brothers, and then best friend were at the Georgia show when Macho slapped Torrie. I could feel the atmosphere in the entire dome go cold and awkward when it happened. That moment’s mostly overriden the same night as Goldberg had returned after Megadeath played and Bret Hart made his first appearance after Owen’s death. Kinda rough in retrospect, but Benoit got a huge pop when he motioned for the diving headbutt. Anywho, we made it on camera with our five-person STING sign.
Quite an eventful night. I'd love to hear from people who were in the crowd to see Booker's N bomb. And I'd like to see the following 30 seconds of just crowd reactions.
I seem to remember that The Shockmaster's fall was the fault of a carpenter who helped build the set. He didn't realize the wall was supposed to come down and put a horizontal support beam at knee level after bookers and everyone had checked everything out. With the mask Fred couldn't see the beam. At least that's the story I remember hearing years and years ago.
and ole anderson doing the voice lol i will say this though, ya never know. i mean look at the undertaker, like the original gimmick, or the big bossman. who wouldve thought that either became what they did.. especially the undertaker. but yea youre probably right. although he was pretty popular as tugboat, which i still dont know what that gimmick is supposed to be.. an obese sailor? lmfao but realistically, how would he have even wrestled with that fucking thing on? no way it wouldnt fall off
I remember seeing that Macho Man slap segment when it first aired, which was crazy enough because I had already largely switched to WWF. I was watching with my dad and I just kind of chuckled at the absurdity of the whole thing, but didn't realize at the time he hit Torrie for real. That was one of the first things I learned in an acting class, don't hurt anyone!
that slap was so mild and Torrie was hardly hurt lol. Now Macho shouldn't have done it, but supposedly, from what I've heard, he apologized right after they went off air and Torrie didn't make a big deal about it. Also, Torrie broke character and was laughing when her reaction should've been one of terror like GG.
Nobody was doing better promos at the time than Steiner. No one will ever top Steiner calling ric flair a washed up old bastard to his face completely unannounced.
I wonder if Steiner was cool with Master P when he was in WCW for that short while, being his later gimmick used like 2 lines from Master P songs (eg: "I got the Hookup, Hollar if ya hear me") I forget the 2nd one but it was another song quote. "Make em say uhhh"???
The best part of the Funk story is that after the horse nearly took his head off, Funk punched the horse and threatened to kick its ass. Terry Funk vs. An actual horse. I'm amazed WCW didn't actually book that.
Can't really fault Dean too much for forgetting the rule about leaving the ring being a DQ. It is an unusual rule and playing a heel that was the "taking a powder" spot he was probably doing on instinct more than anything.
Yeah I’m sitting here thinking there no way Dean would purposely lose a match on purpose the dude a total pro…guess he the only one who really knows lol
It really didn't help that most of the time the referees, wrestlers and even the commentary teams were not all told the same rules for certain matches because there were so many people booking the matches and telling them all different things or even nothing at all.
I like to imagine a world in which the Shockmaster’s debut was perfect. Fans would have really gotten behind a guy in a bedazzled storm trooper helmet with a bad voiceover
It's amazing in all the videos like this, Tank Abbot pulling out a knife on Big Al right before they cut to commercial is never mentioned. I will never forget Larry's voice screaming about how Tank had a knife.
4:51 The reason the segment is missing from WWE Network is that starting with the Jan. 12, 2000 episode (the first one after TBS moved the show to Wednesday nights), WWE Network shows the episodes as they were prior to the post-production process. Mistakes removed for the TBS airing are now included and any pre-tapes that were added later are missing. For whatever reason, six of the last seven episodes from Feb./Mar. 2001 are exceptions to this and are shown in their aired form.
You can't forget Jerry flynn's "That's how you take care of Ernest fucking miller!" The gaffe itself was nothing special, but the "Oh shit. I just got myself fired" look on his face when he realised what he'd said, was priceless.
I was surprised that Booker T mistakenly thought Hogan's dark tan was his real skin color lol. I can just see his brother or okerlund saying to him afterwards - hey you know he's not black. 🤣 Classic!!
dean malenko is one of my favorite wrestlers all time. i was stunned when he forgot the rules. he did his typical schtick where he'd slide under the ropes and take a walk around the ring, but as soon as he did it in this case against Kidman I wondered if they were really going to end the match....at they did the shockmaster thing was hilarious (and sad for Fred) but what was even better was how the commentators constantly joked about it in almost all future matches (especially Jesse Ventura). Ventura couldn't help but mock him almost every match he called
WcW hard-core division had Funk, Duggan, Bigelow, Finlay, Knobs, the Wall, Hugh Morris, Raven, Hack/ Sandman, Vampire, Haku and Norman Smiley. WcW was better at literary everything, except high quality main event matches and finishes...
WCW had issues. They crammed so many matches on their TV shows they were all rushed and regularly were racing the clock at the end of Nitro. Their storylines were clearly not planned as much as many WWF storylines so many went no where and weren't mentioned again or just went into holding patterns where any advancement in the story was forgotten and reset each week (like pretty much anything with the Four Horseman). Then you have the issues that come with letting big names with big egos have creative control. Plus they repeated matches constantly. They had way more great workers than WWF did at the time but WWF managed to do more with less.
A little trivia. Supposedly if you listen carefully to the Shockmaster entrance you can hear Booker T say “Who the f*ck is this dude?” after Shockmaster falls down. Lol.
