I have really enjoyed seeing how your channel has evolved. It has grown as your experience with the hobby has. I remember when your reviews were mainly the RTF planes and drones where it was a crap shoot of whether it would even get off the ground or not. Now the RTFs have gone from being toy grade to decent hobby grade. I also love how you and your wife share a love for this hobby. I know I can count on Abby closing out the video with her trademark “Bye!”. Keep up the great work.
My only downside I see with this radio is that is does not "talk". You have verbal callouts which I really, really love and is one reason I moved to the NX8 (and love it). The upgraded version, now called the "NX7e+" is now a 14-channel at the same price. That is as I understand it anyway.
Helpful review. Good point about the switch fasteners working loose on other Spectrum Txs. A pain on my DX6 and DX6i. I like the white, makes it easier to locate.
I havent used the NX7e, I have a NX8 myself, now with 20 channels (the NX7e can be upgaded to 14), and with regular pricing I will argue that the NX8 is the better option. It's a "talkie", it has diversity antennas, and wifi, but also from what i understand more programability (again, Im not familiar with the NX7e). But for 240, the NX7e seems like a nice deal. Personally, right now my favorite tranmitter is the Radiomaster Pocket with elrs, that can do everything the NX7e can and then some (except bind to DSMX off course), and it is just 65$, or just 55 if one goes for the Frsky variant.
How do you like the NX8, I have my eye on a new transmitter before next spring, and the NX8 was on top of my list, although I only fly 4 and 5ch planes, mostly Horizon products or ARFs with Spektrum recievers inside.... so I'm looking at a mid range replacement for my old DX6i that I have had since the pre-order showed up at my LHS almost 2 decades ago...
@@isaiahfurrow7414 I like it for many reasons, but one thing I didnt like was that my older DX9 felt far more robust and higher quality, same goes for my Radiomaster Boxer, the NX8 has a bit too much of a plastic feel for such a high priced radio. One thing I really like (and that goes for all Spektrum radios) is the ergonometry , it is very easy to grip and at at the same time reach as many switches as spossible without having to move your hands to much. And it is very easy to set up and program, but so is the NX7e. If you now can get te NX7e for 240, I think you will be quite happy coming from a DX6i, but I think the NX8 is worth the 100$ extra when comparing normal prices for the reason I stated in my previous comment. And it looks better too :)
Im shopping for a replacement for an OLD dx6i radio... NX8 WAS on top of my list... i will look closer at this one now, even though i don't like the white color....not that i look at the Tx much while flying....lol Im somewhat on a budget, so a cheaper option is welcomed, just not sure I want to cut corners at all, the DX6i served me well for a LONG time, I pre-ordered mine from a LHS when they first announced it close to 2 decades ago... Not sure what to think about a "game style" transmitter... to some extent I think the gimbals might come i to play, can they make high quality game style joysticks? I mean, PS amd other game controlers do seem to hold up pretty well over lots of use...so im sure its possible... Can you please follow this up with a comparison to the NX8?!? For those of us deciding between the two?
And that’s what awesome comments like yours are for! Solid information 👍💯 Also good to know how it functions out of the box. Believe it or not, 90% or more of consumers never do these firmware updates! 😁⚓️
I have a Steam account for games, and I use their Real Flight Trainer Edition and their full version. They look good, and the planes fly great on their sims. The trainer version is cheaper. I got into flying bigger, made of wood and not foam, electric powered RC planes this summer, a 70 size Edge 540, and a 60 and 120 size pattern planes. Flying the bigger planes on the Real Flight helped me. Their full version has quarter-scale planes and all kinds of things to fly. You can even turn on smoke.
Very nice but that thing would be black in a month if I got my hands on it lol Does it only come in white? Sorry if you said it in the video I must’ve daydreamed off thinking about flying tomorrow 😁

Actually for someone that flies as much as Nate he really doesn’t crash that much.. Hell I fly half as much as Nate but I crash ten times more 😂🤣 In my defense I build my own planes and don’t give a crap when I crash, lol Most of the time I can just slap a little glue and packing tape on it and it’s right back in the air in 5 minutes 😂 IMO most people tend to fly a little more carefully when you’re flying a beautiful plane and have a butt load of money tied up in it.. lol Unless your name is Kevin and you get to destroy things for a living.. 🤷🏼♂️ 😂🤣
For 1 now that you said that your prolly gona dirt a plane and for 2 he crashes cause he’s human. And he likes to step out of his comfort zone and challenge himself. And when you do stuff like that your gona have crashes.
Sorry, I've soured on Spektrum! I've had several of their transmitters fail after a few years; I've never dropped them or otherwise abused them. I have had much better experiences with the orange ones........... and they are a fraction of the cost!
Just curious, what happened to them? Like won’t turn on anymore? Not discrediting your experience with them, but I’ve flown consistently on Spektrum (not solely, but primarily) for something like 6 or more years now with no issues like you’ve described. Would like to know more! 👍⚓️
@@TheRcSaylors I agree. Considering the number of moving parts, my NX8 has held up perfectly, and I got it when it was released a few years ago. Spektrum makes great products. I'd switch in a second if they didnt perform.
@@TheRcSaylors One wouldn''t bind anymore with Spektrum receivers (but other transmitters would with the tested receivers). The other, when turned on, would revert to Model #5 each time. I couldn't bind it to any other receivers because of that. I could bind new models to #5, but what a pain! Also lost an airplane in a tall tree with a Spektrum transmitter. I cut the tree down for firewood, and got the plane back. It wouldn't re bind to that transmitter, but it would to the orange transmitter. In my opinion, HH is losing quality control. Big problems with a Blade 230S V2 (they reluctantly replaced it; an engineer at HH admitted that they had problems with a batch of receivers) and a UMX A10 had a bad servo right out of the box. I do have to say, I got a Losi Promoto X (with my fingers crossed) and it is great!

You may want to correct yourself. The Nx7e is now nx7e+ so now has 14 channels. More value. Nx7e's can be updated to having 14 channels. Nx8+ is 20

I just got one the other day and it's now a nx7e+ and it goes up to 14 channels. I love it
Yup I bought one coz you were using it in all your vids and it seemed like a good radio. Plus it was on sale.
AWESOME deal on that transmitter!! Thanks Saylors for sharing your honest opinion!! ❤👍😎
I've been watching you for 7 or 6 years, obviously on and off, but all ways came back
Thank you so much my friend!! 🙏👍💯😎⚓️
I love the transmitter! but it gets very dirty. I ended up just painting it black which was very cool and i highly recommend it.
What type of paint did you use? 🙏💯⚓️
