The backs aren't too difficult to take apart. You'll want to check the spring. Springs are only lubricated with powdered graphite. If there is oil inside clean it and regraphite. there are other spring issues that come up

Oh man. I didn’t realize the No. 10 was that bad off. I don’t know if any of this will help, but there goes. And you may have already tried these. Apologies if so.
    1) Don’t be alarmed by the slop in the drum. Mine has a similar amount of play. Talking to a couple of the old timers, Cirkuts were designed with a surprising degree of slop/looseness. Running things too tightly can cause its own set of issues with jerky moment and banding.
    2) On a related note, I’ve been told, and the manuals even state, don’t over-tighten the clutch or the screw that secures the camera to the gear head. I tend to set them on the loose side of finger tight. Or tighten them, then back off to where you feel the torque release a little.
    3) Also related, don’t mesh the gears (between the camera and turntable) fully. The manual states to mesh the teeth abut half way.
Between those three items, I wonder if you’ll find that the power issue might be resolved and the camera can rotate and pull film. At least I hope it turns out to be that easy.
One more tip from a couple of the old timers I’ve talked to: Resist the temptation to lube the gear train when you take the motor apart. The gears are meant to run dry. Only lube the journals, the shaft ends that are visible on the bottom plate, and perhaps a drop at the top of the governor’s shaft near the locknut. Just the barest drop of oil on those points.
Sorry if any of this retreads ground you may have covered already. But if it doesn’t, I hope it helps.

Thanks Drew, I feel a little more confident about the drum now. I was worried that its looseness might have caused binding and slowed the whole thing down.
It seems like I should reduce my clutch tension. I'm not using pliers, but my diesel mechanic hands might be tightening it a bit too much.
I'm familiar with the gear lash. It appears that the camera has almost enough power, but it needs some assistance.
I did come across something about not oiling the gear teeth or faces. I thought that applying a drop of oil on each shaft of the gear train would help it start moving, and it did, but without a film. I'm sure it's old dirt and oils that need to be cleaned. Photrio had a breakdown of the motor by Frobozz.
Thank you for the advice Drew.
