Can we do a list of games the industry refuses to let die even tho they've been dead for years
Good one
Legacy of Kain😢
Top ten cod games?
@damienscanlon5585 oh, they let the legacy of kain series rot. It will be a miracle if another soul Reaver is ever made again.
Fantastic idea.
Jules you should do a video about happy endings that are actually *horrible*.
I can already see the jokes forming.
Is there supposed to be blood
Did you olayed Bloodborne or somethin?
Bad happy endings is a great idea!
Games that fans will never stop modding to keep them playable.
Skyrim and fallout
Ooh, that's a good idea. That would be a good video
Darkest dungion 1 the mods never end from enemy's and bosses hero's and trinkets and whole new areas in a game that 5 in the base game one of whitch is the final place with 3 missions only and then there's black reliquary
@@HAIL_TO_THE_KING5 I mean Skyrim is already playable, but mods make it so so SO much better.
The Sims 2
-Still available for Apple computers, but not for Windows (officially). No longer supported, sold, or even mentioned on the official EA website or steam page.
-Fans have created an Ultimate Edition download that includes all official Sims 2 content, including the official items that were only available online, available for free and requiring neither a CD nor Origin launcher to run.
-Fan-created custom-content/neighborhood editing application SimPE.
-Fan-created Graphics Rules Maker to update the game to play nice with modern graphics cards.
-Fan-created "CEP" enables custom recolors of in-game objects that aren't otherwise recolorable.
-MANY fan-created bug-fixes.
-Various fan-created default replacements for every piece of in-game content.
-RECENT videos by by TS2 fans who grew up, went to school to become programmers, and came back to investigate how exactly TS2 works and what exactly causes "corruption" (a boogeyman in the Sims 2 community for many years).
-Continuing content creation for the Sims 2 and continuing efforts to preserve older content.
Sleeping Dogs had a similar problem to Dead Space 2 - there were DLC packs which gave you lots of money as well as powerful weapons and cars right from the start. Worse still, one of the packs gave the player HUGE amounts of both Cop and Triad exp, unlocking most of the level bonuses...
Those packs were also added in the GOTY edition, so I had to manually remove them every time I reinstalled the game.
Still take capcom selling the ending of asuras wrath to me over how they keep making me pay for Akuma as dlc when hes been roster for many many years. Both sf5 and sf6 goddamit
The worst part is that I've heard the ending of asura's wrath was actually already on the disk. They literally put a paywall around the content that was already on the disk that you had already paid for. It always kinda sounded like theft to me. Of course I don't know first hand if that's true or not or if I'm possibly confusing it with a different game. So don't quote me on that. Lol
@@nicholasmccravy4393 capcom did that with Marvel vs capcom infinite. Released thep hysical game with the dlc onnthe disk but it was locked behind the paywall an they got major hatings and slatings
@@nicholasmccravy4393 i hope thats not true for Asuras Wrath. I love it and i couldnt handle something tarnishing it like that hahah
@@sargetyu I wouldn't be surprised if that is true because they did the same thing for Street Fighter x Tekken all those years ago. IIRC they had Poison as a dlc character but you could bypass the paywall due to her already being in the game disc to which Capcom at the time either banned or patched. Either way that was awful.
Catwomens missions are great but yeah the transitions from bat to cat are odd
There's nothing wrong with the Catwoman dlc.
I mean, it does screw up the pacing of the story. It's fun to play, but Catwoman's adventure is entirely divorced from the main plot the majority of the time, with her only showing up to help Batman once and because she happens to see him on a screen on her way out, not because the story naturally draws her in.
It would have been better if the experience was standalone and not interspersed with Batman's story.
The title is “DLC’s that RUINED the original game”. The pacing being a little off doesn’t ruin a game.
@@boi905 Maybe not for you, but for someone out there
@@boi905 It's called hyperbole. Doesn't need to be that much of an issue. And in any case, for people that care about the story is a major issue.
When it was standalone then yeah, but whenever a DLC is forcibly added into the campaign without it originally being there and you have no control over it then it starts being a worse experience for everyone. Just make DLCs a menu option, so people have the choice it engage with it or not, then devs choosing for them.
Bioshock DLC was great sir
Agreed
He's a moron, Bioshock is on most of his list. Unoriginal as his stale one liners!
Minerva's Den: Excellent.
Burial at Sea: Fine, but trampled all over the story.
No
8 happy endings in video games that actually sucked
The bestest best doggos in videogames!!!
There it is
Boomer from far cry
DD of MGS5 ❤️
Torgal
Ohh boy. 😂
Doing a list of best friend companions in video games would be a good idea yall might have already dont that.
Suggestion: Video games that you're better at when you're bad at them (in the sense of the game being more fun to play or actually being easier somehow when the player can't figure out how anything works)
Pretty sure they just gave you all your shit back in Human Revolution after beating the DLC part. So it might be startling at first, but you don't actually lose anything.
I didn't even realize it was a DLC the first time I played (had never tried the game prior to Director's Cut) and it was fine. The gear loss is nothing major. Games like Fallout New Vegas did that with the Dead Money DLC and again, it was fine.
I have 5 words for a game missing from this list: Sims 4 My wedding stories. Completely broke the game and the weddings were permanently changed to the broken micro managing version, was unplayable upon release yet still $40.
I challenge you to do 8 escort missions that are actually fun. I bet you can't and we all know why.
I can only think of one - in AC Origins there's a mission where you have to escort a giant crocodile and protect it from standard-sized hyenas. I giggled throughout, the only escort mission I've ever enjoyed (not least because the croc courteously walked at your speed)
I'm not sure whether it counts but various shooters (Cod especially) have those absolutely banging missions where you get to escort someone but you've got a massive mounted weapon and blast enemies with your pure power. Could be more of an 'overwatch' than an escort though I suppose
Okay, Jules, I’m sure you and your neck vein, Jeremy, know the drill by now. RPGs are fun, blah blah. But those of us who played Final Fantasy III/VI, Chrono Trigger, and/or Secret of Mana are grown up now, yada yada. Now that we have jobs and/or families, we don’t have time for a The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim or an Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, etc etc. So, we’d appreciate a list of Great RPGs for Working Adults, and so on and so forth.
Oh that would be so handy. I am trying to get into Persona 5 as I am a fps/3rd person action gamer that is looking for something different to play. I'm still in the beginning (I've been captured with a kid called vulgar boy and thrown in some dungeon). I'm still keeping up with it, but I have to play it in small bits due to having a family and a job that require my time and energy.
Single dad here with my 2 young kids full time and also full time job...
I actually DID complete Valhalla and it was a total waste of my time. Took MONTHS to do.
Currently doing FF16 and it's very good I must say. Obviously can only do a couple of hours at a time.
Buzzing for Battlefront collection cos my kids can play with me.
This! So much this. Really long games are just not a possibility anymore, I'm afraid. It's very hard to get invested in this sort of experience with so little free time.
@@mathewm6294 For me, it's just the job. But, it IS pretty draining. And, other responsibilities just LOVE to crop up after I clock out. So, games that respect my time would be welcome. Hopefully, Jules will pick mine. Thanks for weighing in.
@@bricktop. Right now, I'm just trying to clear my backlog. As yet, I only work 32 hours a week, but I also have the house to keep up, which means I only have scraps of time to play with. So, here's hoping Jules can recommend some games which respect such limitations. Thanks for weighing it.
I got so mad that you're shitting on Burial at Sea, I cannot believe you've done this.
The 8 best games set in the middle ages
how about games that hate player 2?
from times when player 2 couldn't do jack all like in RE6 Ada's campaign where player 2 can't open most doors or advance the story (and doesn't even appear in cutscenes btw).
or story wise like in enter the gungeon where the cultist (aka player 2) gets bullied by the npcs because they "only talk with the protagonist "
Some of the better DLC I have played that probably know one else did is the Enslaved DLC when you play as that pig guy (forgot his name).
Interesting. I didn't expect that aspect. I wish remasters extended to cult classics that most people missed
I think his name was Mr. Pigsy, the sniper.
Pigsy's Perfect 10 was awesome.
I wouldn't have put Bioshock 2 ahead of Bioshock Infinite until Burial at Sea came out. Not only does it ruin the perfect ambiguity of the main game, but it also ruins Daisy Fitzgerald. Changing her from a complex tragic villain to a cartoonish heroic martyr.
Most recently, the DLC of Iki Island for Ghost of Tsushima has kinda ruined it for me. SPOILERS in the story for Iki Island, we're supposed to sympathize with the thieves and murderers who occupy the island because the Samurai led by Jin's father bitched them the hell up for being thieves and murders. Worst of all, we're denied the option of taking revenge on the murderous thief who killed Jin's father.
Think about that. In the main game, we were given the option to kill Jin's uncle, an honorable man desperate to save his civilization and is torn between his sense of love and duty. Him we can kill, but the thieving murder who gleefully hurts innocent people we're forced to spare. Ridiculous.
I will always not trust What Culture's opinion on video games specifically for the reason that they despise Bioshock Infinite so much and call it a bad game.
They really hate Bioshock Infinite that much? Well Jules, a so-called “Sonic fan” says that every Sonic game after Sonic 06 was bad. And that includes Sonic Generations, which is loved by both old AND new Sonic fans.
It is a bad game my dude. It's shallow, dumb, mediocre and pretentious. It's a caricature of racism and american exceptionalism, its plot has more holes than a Swiss cheese, its side quests are lazy and mediocre, its gunplay is clunky and boring, its bosses are boring bullet sponges, it has shoehorned powers that don't make sense in the setting but need to be there because it's a Bioshock game, Columbia feels like a stage, not like a real place, it's just a a farce populated by clones that turn into murderous psychopaths if you steal candy from a shop. Elizabeth is just a disney princess whose characterization doesn't make sense at all, and she doesn't actually need any help, because she "can protect herself" by being INVULNERABLE and INVISIBLE to the enemies, oooh! how immersive is that! Bioshock Infinite is a dumbed down Bioshock game, and Bioshock 1 was already a dumbed down System Shock game, where does that leave Bioshock Infinite then?? Geez, the Shadow Warrior game that was released in 2013 obliterates Bioshock Infinite not only as a shooter, (not that hard to do, even Doom 2 from 1994 is a better shooter haha), but also... in narrative, a Shadow Warrior game! go figure! No my dude, Bioshock Infinite deserves to be despised indeed.
@@krvgames9258 I don't know if they hate it, but I've heard Jules saying that Bioshock Infinite is way dumber than it thinks, and that's true.
@@duhmzdaih Well if I played Bioshock Infinite, I would find it enjoyable and good. Like I’ve been playing video games since I was 7-years old and I usually like to see certain video games that are bad as okay games despite their flaws, like I thought Paper Mario Sticker Star was an okay game when everyone says that Paper Mario Sticker Star was a bad game, which I can agree with, or how everyone says that RE5 and RE6 are bad Resident Evil games because they focus more on action than horror but I really like RE5 and RE6 and they weren’t the first Resident Evil games that focused on action as that was RE4. And for Sonic games, I found Sonic Boom Shattered Crystal an enjoyable game, and while it is not great, it’s better than Sonic Boom Rise of Lyric, which was released in a buggy state. So unless a certain video game franchise has one bad entry, I won’t say that games released after that one bad entry are bad games but try to find if they are good despite their flaws. And I might not have played a lot of Sonic games, but I’m a lot more forgiving than Jules.
@@krvgames9258 Well, I wouldn't say Bioshock Infinite can't be enjoyable, there are obviously worse games. I'd say it's overrated and it's unfair that it got such acclaim when there are other less known games that are clearly superior in many ways. I'm very forgiving when it comes to humble games, but in the case of Bioshock Infinite it's just "punching up". There are enough people that think it's the "best game ever" with the "best story ever told", so the "hate" is basically people that want to bring some balance by countering those assertions.
Top 10 exclusive games that other consoles are missing out on.
As someone who has stayed with Xbox i can say that it's somewhat annoying i cant play spademan, god of war and going to be missing out on the upcoming monster hunter stories ports.
I want to see a list about cooking in games, either for tastiest looking foods or most fun cooking mini games.
Another option might be to just have cooking/baking games, like Overcooked.
Video Game Foods You Wished Existed In Real Life
Half of these entries are so weird to be complained about in this context, I remember when the original games were released the criticism was that these were segments of the game that had been chopped out and then sold later on, now we're complaining that they're part of the full experience.
WhatCulture included an Arkham game. They never do that…..
Oh my gawd! I cannot be the only person absolutely loving Psy' bedroom. It's adorable
How about a list of things you wish were real? Like the banshee from Halo, or the power suit from Metroid. You could even have a separate list for people you want to meet.
A forced stealth mission in a game where you play as an assassin... yeah that's criminal
Naaah I actually liked Catwoman's story and missions imbedded into Batman's. Heists are part of the story and necessary for Batman to go forward, then somehow Catwoman is helping Batman save Arkham City even without knowing. Recovering the loot at the very end was kind of dumb and unnecessarily annoying though. It would be a lot better if Catwoman had to recover part of the loot to get information and access to Two-Face's whereabouts for a final confrontation -similar to Batman looking for the codes to the boatyard in Harley Quinn's Revenge.
a list of the funniest historical inaccuracies in gaming would be fun, and there might even be something medieval there
I already had a problem with the asinine “both sides bad” approach Infinite had in regards to the Vox Populi, but seeing how awfully they treated Elizabeth in Burial At Sea (and having the nerve to try to say “she’s just as bad as Comstock was so she deserved it”) really put me off revisiting the game.
For me personally AC2’s DLC was tedious at times, yes, but both DLC’s had their own moments, Caterina was funny bad mouthing the Orsi brothers in the Forli DLC and the assassination of Savonarola was badass, plus the speech Ezio gave after was amazing
Fallout 4's Automatron DLC ruins the game by adding roving bands of robots and raiders to Commonwealth (i.e., the base map) that attack the player with infuriating frequency. After a certain point, you cannot go anywhere without getting ambushed and that gets tedious really fast. At least you can disable the DLC.
Nukaworld was far worse.
Nukaworld was a lot worse.
You guys should do list of the biggest bad ass. Monsters in games like kaiju size level.
THE PORT AUTHORITY MISSION ON BONFIRE OF THE VANITIES DLC STILL ROAM MY NIGHTMARES AND MIND PALACE
NOT ANYMORE
10 games that were never surpassed by their sequels
I’ve been experiencing serious panic attacks over the last few months, and I just want to say, thank you. You guys make my days more bearable, and all jokes aside, Tuesday has become one of my favorite days because of you. Keep doing what you do, and thank you again.
Hey I'm just a random internet stranger, but I'm sorry you're having anxiety and panic attacks, I've been in the hospital a lot for severe panic and stress and it's no joke, I hope you get past this anxiety soon.
What irony - I'm playing as Catwoman in Return to Arkham when this video began.
Thank you for calling out the mandatory Catwoman DLC! I cannot stand that Two-Face showdown
Have you done a worst forced stealth levels yet?
Just finished Witcher 2 Assassin of Kings and it had 2 terrible stealth missions, one on Vernon Roche's path, you have to infiltrate Baron Loredo's compound early on (though it can be failed and you just miss out on some info you could overhear), and another on Iorveth's path, you have to infiltrate King Henselt's camp to acquire a sample of his blood (could be skipped with a different decision a little earlier in the game), but if you fail this stealth part you have to start it over again.
The MJ levels in Spiderman. Absolute PLOP.
Burial at sea is great if you don't ever think about the implications.
The book is the true best Bioshock DLC
I disagree on bioshock buried at sea. Especially part 2
Do a list of games that made you do absolutely absurd things with no in-game reward or trophy. Like getting no XP, no armor or anything of the sort to help boost your character and obviously no trophy or trophy points or gamer points on your account.
Soulslikes with the best bosses (on average)
8 live service games that actually made gaming better
How about a list of games where you can get an unexpected Game Over without actually dying? e.g. Dishonored - what happens when you try to get in the bath with Callista
Jules you’re the real mvp!
How about a video on
Painfully long dev cycles where the final product was worth the wait?!?
Idea. Games that everyone loved too late. Ones that didn't sell well enough to keep going
THANK YOU for saying it about Binding of Isaac. I found that, especially for anything after the first DLC, there were TOO MANY ITEMS. To the point that you could never actually get a good build going due to the ridiculous odds.
I disagree with the Catwoman take on doc, I'm not really stealth fan but it was fun. And burial at sea was great lol
How about a top 8 times Juiles was wrong.
Ha this!
I have a suggestion for an entry of that list: Jules saying that every Sonic game after Sonic 06 is bad. And that includes Sonic Generations, which is loved by both old AND new Sonic fans. And Jules claims he’s a “Sonic fan”.
There's been quite a number of times, so a top 8 would be tricky lol
@@darkstar0242 part one of the eight times lol
I enjoyed this video and here is some advice for anyone who watched this video and are curious there are DLC packs in video games that were 50 percent are great and were 50 percent are not great either way it depends on your point of view anyway take my advice and hopefully it would reinvigorate and motivate you all ladies and gentlemen
"Huffs its own farts." 😂🤣. I will be adding that into my arsenal.
Damn....now i want Double Lager and Chips.
Hey Jules, i recently subscribed and i already enkoying this content. Keep it up!
I do have one suggestion.
12 best Singleplayer Games that are loved by the community and developers.
You are absolutely wrong Jules it’s OK. You can be wrong.
Do dlcs that made great games even better. Perfect examples xenoblade 2 n 3. Amazing game changing dlc that feels like a mini sequel.
To get the Medieval box ticked -8 brilliant but overlooked main characters and then you just focus on Sir Daniel Fortesque from the Medieval series 8 times. That should satisfy the masses.
The thing about Saints Row is that it's like a giant ham hoc. I didn't mind it stewing mindlessly for many hours, but I still want to get some stakes out of it.
opposite of the subject, but I finally popped open the Nioh 2 DLC recently, and I actually thoroughly enjoyed it. When I first saw the DLC and realized the premise was your character going back in time, I thought it was kinda goofy or hokey, but it actually adds a lot of context and answers a lot of questions about the story.
The times you're going back to are not random, but take you back to work with other people who have used the plot-magic sword, and even to seeing the creation of said sword. It also heavily implies that your character's mother is not just a random yokai, but probably Suzaku Gozen a legendary figure who is apparently noted as oni in some stories.
the time loop is actually very tight and explainable, and the origin of Kashin Koji/Otakemaru is thoroughly explored.
YESSSSS to your views on Bioshock - NO ONE praises Minerva's Den and - it is SO good. Brings me to tears, it is so emotive. I loathe the plot of Buriel at Sea
8 forgotten games that were hidden gems.
Drakan The ancient gates, Chaos legion, Circus maximus, Champions of norrath, etc etc...
You could put a classic spin on this and make an episode about expansions that wrecked the original game. Like Morrowind's Tribunal expansion that added a very difficult assassin who'd attack you after a nap, even if it was the first time your literally fresh-off-the-boat character ever slept.
The Ancient Gods for Doom Eternal
Not only were most of the new enemies obnoxious and felt like the devs were offended that you didn't use every part of the murder buffalo and now they were going to force you to use them in really unfun ways, but the music was somehow completely forgettable despite being made in part by Andrew Hulshult, and Evil Doomguy Satan turned out to be the worst kind of villain sue and basically ruined every other character and wasn't even a good boss fight. Just the absolute worst way to end the new Doom series.
How about great multi phase bosses that were ruined by underwhelming final phases?? Can we start with William Birkin from Resident Evil 2 remake? His battles went from fending off this seemingly unstoppable monster... to hug the wall unload all your ammo at this slowly moving meatwall. Pretty dissapointing considering this is the true final boss you face after completing your second playthrough on the opposite character.
How about games that surprisingly never got a sequel? I suggest games like Billy Hatcher or Dragon Seeds.
Just Cause 3. Without the DLC, it's a fun game, with an end boss that's not super difficult, but at least takes some thought to kill. With the DLC, the entire game changes - you now have a rocket pack and rocket launchers. Any previous thought needed to do missions is gone, as you are now wildly over-powered everywhere else in the game.
I mean, if you want a medieval suggestion for next week, I'd have to go with...
7 games set in medieval times that absolutely nailed the time it was set in
Hell yeah, great video, great topic and advice for the industry about sequel baiting! Also always commenting for your positive messages at the end of your videos!! You Rock Jules!!
UBI made 3 different DLC's which were new games outside main game and none of them were good. "Immortals Fenyx Rising".
In fact UBI made some bad DLC outside main game for FC 6 too.
Utter blasphemy Jules! Infinite is by far the best Bioshock. 1 was ok, and 2 I really hated, but I loved infinite.
I like the aesthetic better in one but BioShock 3 was definitely the better game for me
I concur with Jules Bio 1,2, then Minerva DLC, then visit Rapture DLC followed by the worst in its series aka BIO infinite. Just my opinion 😂
If even not the top, 2 was a mess.
@seanbordenkircher7854 I personally enjoyed it. The Story wasn't thr best but playing as Delta felt awesome!
Yo... You need to check out "Street Fighter vs Tekken" DLC. That was f'd up.
So Jules..... what happened to all the Medieval stuff?
You know what’s funny? I started watching about a year ago and never thought twice about the midevil line but today I was like “wait a sec, when has it ever had midevil things two seconds before he explained it lmao
Medieval you say? How about a list of best Medieval (or generally anachronistic or out of place) weapons in non-medieval games?
Couldnt agree more about the burial at sea dlc. Was hoping for it to appear here and you ranked it quite high, thanks for that Jules.
Great video as always! How about ultimate power fantasy games? A certain god and a certain slayer come to mind...
FYI: “Mandatory Fun” is a Weird Al Yankovic album.
BoI: Repentance is actually a lot harder than AF+, so if you are new to the game AF+ is the smart choice so you can learn the mechanics, enemy patterns etc. Repentance increases enemy shot speed, added some very difficult bosses and nerfed some of the best parts of AF+.
How in the heck did the Endor DLC for The Force Unleashed II not make the list?!
Omg you’re right. They must have overlooked it because that one belongs to this list hands down.
to be exact catwoman was a day 1 dlc so it was supost to be part of the game they just locked it out to give as preorders or paid dlc
When Jules said" muscly Joker..... Ew Ew EEEEWWW" He sounded like Stewie Griffin from Family Guy was spot on
How about games with mannequins with weeping angel rules?
Let's try something medieval: 8 times that the RPG was modern and not medieval (about jokes, memes, run gags, weapons or anything that did not happen during medieval times)
8 Games you had to make a separate save for just to be able to replay that part again.
Super-wrong about Arkham City and the BioShock series, but always nice to listen to you rant regardless. :D
Oh Jules, you majestic jester! Ye shall proclaim a list containing the most iconic swords of all the realms!! Please, I’ve asked for this since day one of the show. Take care and cheers you absolute lege.
BioShock 1 had the better story but 2 had the better more polished gameplay, plus you'll always win my heart with a father-daughter story.
Great video game sequels that made the original game unplayable
My suggestion for you next video is Top 10 players favorite boss Fights.
I hate the DLC that kills off the main character. At least two games I can remember doing that, Homefront the Revolution and Dying Light, where the main protagonist gets killed off in expansions. Just feels a little scummy to me putting important story moments in another piece of the game but especially when it involves a main character death.
Now you've done it: you have to say "Adam Jensen" like that EVERY TIME, from now until FOREVER, or we, the rabid masses, will go ballistic! 🤣
Can we do just lists again? That’s why I watch.
Wait, this isn't a new episode of "These Things SUCK!!"?
Jules do "times when fast travel wasn't convenient". That sign post outside crows perch😢
Dropping into the wrong spot in New Vegas and immediately getting set upon by Deathclaws or Cazadores.
0:35 No, had no idea of this complex backstory. Hang a broadsword or something, mate.
What about a list of the biggest early access games that completely let us all down
You should do a video on top 8 amazing Bosses that are in terrible video games.
So the dlc that always sticks out to me is far cry 4 season pass. There was a full game included called "valley of the Yeti," and it was super cool and very hard to fight the yetis or it would be hard except the season pass automatically gave you a elephant gun that one hit killed them. You'd have to intentionally decide to nerf yourself to play the game as intended, and seriously who does that
What about a video about games with the best train levels?
