Thank you for bringing him on. Im newly British, from the US, and he may speak from an American perspective but his points are globally valid & important & he knows it.
I went to see Bernie Sanders in Liverpool on Tuesday night and he was very fearful of Trump getting into power and the threat that he and the far right would would have on democracy in the USA and around the world. So hearing what that guy said about democracy brings it home even more.
Why anybody ever thought Hilary was a better candidate than this guy is beyond me. He'd have crushed the 2016 election if he was running, and by now Trump would be a forgotten nobody left to the realms of history.
What Mr O'Brien does not understand about Bernie Sanders' generation, and mine, is that we were young in a time of great change. Civil rights and the Vietnam War were major causes of upheaval in the United States. Sociology classes were eye-openers for those of us who could go to college .Many were swept up in the currents of history. Bernie happened to be swept into Congress, fueled by his great compassion of course.
But he's also honest, and dedicated to what he believes. Age is irrelevant in that Obama was coherent, eloquent and physically fit, and struggled even to be a mediocrity, and only lives in the reflected glory of *not* being as disastrous as Trump. Biden, admittedly through progressive pressure, has been significantly better than Obama, even with his supposed shortcomings.

Thanks for have Bernie Sanders on your show. You and he are a great pair!
Bernie touched on it, the greatest thing that politics given to the working person in the U.K., is the NHS…………….lets fight to keep it.
Fantastic interview
Why don’t we have more politicians like Bernie. Very knowledgable man👍

It's a worry James. I can't believe what is happening in the world today. Great guest. Hope you and your family are well ❤
As a young girl I read a lot about the Holocaust so in the late 70's when my brother came back from visiting Israel and the West Bank with horrible stories about how Palestinians were being treated I didn't believe him. I couldn't imagine that Jewish people who had been through the Holocaust could oppress others.
Yeah it's one of the biggest mysteries in modern world history! How those who are the descendants of Holocaust survivors can turn out to be some of the worst most reprehensible people you'll ever meet. And what does descendants are doing now in 2023 and 2024 are beyond inhuman! 🤯
My thoughts exactly.
You never seen X-Men? Crass joke excuse me, but the point stands, psychology teaches us that those who suffer great abuse often grow up to inflict similar abuse on others. Fear and insecurity are powerful and corrupting motivators
@@jn4126Never Again could be a common sentiment?
The abused can sometimes become the abuser.
What a interesting person
If every Politician was as noble and kind as Bernie Sanders the world would be in far greater shape.
Bernie ROCKS. I've just finished 'It's okay to be Angry ." His revelations of the inequality that affects (and is tacitly promoted by the Uber Rich) the US, are breathtaking and his proposals obvious and reasonable. So much of what ails America, ails the UK. Stay alert! Thank you James. Thank you Bernie. 👌
Bernie is a treasure.
I know about Eugene Debs from listening to NPR podcasts. When you know about him, you can understand why and how Bernie has been kept from the presidency. He's still a very important politician and has made great change in the US, just not enough.
I've been angry at capitalism for fourty years. Now I am just angry at the people that practice it and the greed/ignorance that feeds it. That's almost everyone in my generation covered i think.
I like your calm way the two of you are doing te interview with each other.
Such a shame he didn’t win! He’s got the highest moral character and the ability to reach so many people!
Well done James ! Thank you !
Such a gulf between Trump and Sanders. Sanders, thoughtful, knowledgeable, decent, and humane. Everything Trump is not.
Great video!!!
Keep moving forward
Jerome A Jones
More faculties, more energy, more vitality, more articulate, and more marbles than either Biden or Trump, and he’s older than both of them!
Thank you James for one of the best interviews ever with Bernie. You are the very best.
I'm pretty sure all we can hope for is to be this lucid at his age
This was a great conversation with a brilliant man.
Thé greatest living American
At least one American seems to understand & talk for the little guys on the planet
He is so smart so well spoken, will all the facts in simple terms he tell you what is wrong with capitalism and the world today
Thankyou, luv this man.
He demonstrates the genius of simplicity - everything is reasonable and rational. How politics could be without the greed and selfish ambition…
Thank you for bringing him on. Im newly British, from the US, and he may speak from an American perspective but his points are globally valid & important & he knows it.
Sad state of affairs for America.Get money out of politics.Go Bernie never give up🙏🏼👏🏽❤️👍
Great interview. Important information. Ty
Excellent
I went to see Bernie Sanders in Liverpool on Tuesday night and he was very fearful of Trump getting into power and the threat that he and the far right would would have on democracy in the USA and around the world.
So hearing what that guy said about democracy brings it home even more.
Bernie Sanders is an ICON
Why anybody ever thought Hilary was a better candidate than this guy is beyond me. He'd have crushed the 2016 election if he was running, and by now Trump would be a forgotten nobody left to the realms of history.
Brilliant interview.
I donated! And voted for him.
Bernie is 1yr older than Biden and still coherent, funny, eloquent and physically fit. I wish he could have won.
What a great man so bright and knowledgeable, he should be In the race. I was captivated by his eloquence. (If that’s the right word lol)
