In my experience it also helps a lot to just talk to the seller, if the car is good, the owner usually has no problem calling out the smaller problems with the car. If someone is being pretty skittish about the rc in question there is most likely something wrong with the car. Also you can ask if they have any other rc’s or some spare parts, most people who enjoy the hobby have multiple cars and keep spare parts because they arent blind to the fact that stuff breaks and needs the be maintained en replaced

That kid that sold it to you should have cleaned it up like you did and he could have got more money for it. Goes to show some people don't use their brain.

You may want to do more search before using that product on plastics & RC cars.
You are correct, I can not do that all the time, but for deep cleaning it is the best way.
