0:59 I got nearly 1M views with one of them puppies haha...
right... I'll carry on watching now
Shame about the tragic end..... but that ripped haha. It wasn't that bad stock either! I got a New Bright up. to 50mph a few years back, it's fun making toys go fast haha
The thought had crossed my mind 😂
It's all about the process, even in the failures 👌
I just thought about doing the same thing with an Audi R8 that I found on etsy.
I thought about making a toy RC car not suck, but then I realized they cost more than a lot of the Banggood specials that are a lot better
I found myself in a delema like this just before Christmas. My Grandson wanted a Slash and being 5 years old, I was not eager to blow large money on a 5 year old. The RC Shop I do business with gave me a snow blower just before Christmas. I told them after I fixed and sold it, more than likely they would end up getting the money I made from selling it. Two days before Christmas the snowblower sold and I ended up buying him the 1/16 scale Slash. I enclosed a note from Santa telling him he was only allowed to run his Slash with Dad, mom, or Grandpa until he was older. He was elated and my daughter a bit miffed I spent that much on him. Hey, it was Christmas!
Just reading this story now, can't believe I missed it. Perfect sir! Best. Grandpa. Ever.
Moms and their sons/grandson I as a man understand that now having kids. Girls will understand when they get older and have kids!
Latrax Teton existed too
He wanted a Slash at 5 years old?? I didn't even know what a Traxxas was at 5. I didn't even play with rc cars at 5.
Spoiling grandchildren is your right as a grandparent.
So my son got a Batmobile from Target for Christmas. Now I have a project. It's on!
Yeah buddy!! It's the build journey that's half the fun 😎👌
Should of found the pre runner it actually has 4 link and you could upgrade to real shocks . If I ever get to it I feel like even most of the suspension and axles will be upgraded to a one off
@Yourlocaltankfrom1974 traxxas 1/16 starts around $180. Losi mini's start around $140. Both have lasted me years & have gotten more upgrades than theyre worth. The 1/16 goes 63mph now. Amazing products
Right out of the box it actually rips a lot better than I expected!
I know right? Feel bad for butchering it 😅
WL Toys are actually great introductory kids RCs. They don't typically break unless you over power them and slam into a speed bump... and then throw them.
What was more impressive to me were your skills to rebuild that toy with actual hobby grade parts.
You did an absolutely amazing job, im amazed.
Aw thx 😊 Looking for my next target 😂
So am I, I'm surprised he didn't fix the wheel. That thing looked FAST
@@disciplinerc do the adventure force trail chaser its good for what it is but with upgrades its amazing
I’m actually impressed with this toy for a Walmart rc. 2.4 it goes through grass n snow. Not bad for toy grade
Not at all
In 2014 I took a newbright rc crawler and installed 2 axial xr10 motors an esc. futaba rx/tx used a mini hitec servo and was able to put proline flat irons on the stock wheels. Ended up being a fun truck for mud and creek bashing.
Cool video I love seeing these builds
Sounds very cool! Yep, these builds can be a blessing or a curse 🤣
You took it from awesome kids toy to rediculous man toy.. love it 😊
If only it lasted 37seconds longer 😂
@@disciplinerc 3.7 maybe lol 😂
@@IowaBudgetRCBashers 😂😂
I have done the same thing to a toy grade RC from Kmart years ago , the process of making em faster with hobby grade electronics is fun but yep, they don't last long 😆
Yeah bro, the journey is its best reward...well actually having it stable is but I'm trying to be optimistic 🤣
Yup there fun got 10 rc car
Honestly, that's probably the best toy grade I've seen! Looks like it has variable throttle and steering (which is better than 99% of toy grades) and has cool lights!
nah they just fake out people like this youtuber with the controller that looks proportional but is still not really proportional full left or right only lol
@@ghost.of.aleksz.salad.no it’s proportional. I had two and they have a good throttle and steering. I know this because I had two of them!
I still own my favourite childhood rc car. A Toyota Land cruiser FJ40 from 1981. It already had a 2-speed gearbox, lights, and a winch. I loved it. I have been thinking about upgrading it but I am afraid to ruin it.
I hear that! I'm still trying to find my Tyco Buggy from my childhood 🤔
Try to find an identical one that you can use for spare parts in case you ruin it
When I was a kid I had a Radio Shack Audi RC that I modified to fit a 540 motor. It was a rocket until the plastic diff exploded.
Things got bad for big box stores like Walmart and K-Mart when RC companies like Tyco disappeared. The grasshopper and Lobo were great cars from the 80's and 90's.
Tyco!! My very first buggy was a Tyco. Remember it fondly to this day 🥲
@@disciplinerc I missed out on those days. Mom couldn't afford those toys so I'd play with friends and cousins rc cars. I just got my first hobby grade RC ( Traxxas Rustler VXL Ultimate) for Christmas. Looking for upgrades.
@@20BKing Nice dude, I know that feeling well. Congrats on the new ride bro!! 👍
@@disciplinerc hey man I appreciate it. I've had the X Mods from Radio Shack but nothing serious. Now I'm going to get the new crawler bronco from Traxxas on my next check.
The lights are cool. It actually preformed ok. I cant believe you actually broke it down and upgraded it. Amazing effort on your part. It still jams on 3 wheels. Great job.
I know right 👍😅
If I was a kid & was given one of those I'd be bursting with joy.!
That thing's awesome for a toy.!!! 👍 👍 👍
I remember being given a red Nikko buggy that looked like a Grasshopper & I was super happy... For 5 minutes, then the 8 AA batteries went dead...
I ran in & grabbed another pack... The last pack... Aaaaannnd you can see where this is going.
My parents went & got me some rechargeable batteries & a charger but as this was the mid 80's they took about 8 hours to charge & lasted about 3 minutes.!
Sigh..... Then the gearbox went after a week or so & maybe 10 short runs..
We went back to Toys R us but they only had a couple of RCs in stock so I ended up with a Group C Le Mans style car that needed a perfectly smooth surface to run on... Our house was fully carpeted.!.. It couldn't even run on the driveway because my Dad put ripples in the concrete.
The road was tar & gravel, the paths were wonky flagstones.... Siiiigghhhh... 😢 😢
I'm still traumatized... (maybe that's why I overcompensate nowadays by trying to cram 6 or 8S into every RC I own).??
I ended up taking it apart & pulled all the parts out... I made myself a little RC boat from a pop bottle, a pop can & BluTack which was far more durable & fun than anything Nikko made in the 80s.!
Great tale man, I think a lot of us can totally relate. Times have changed and for the better in our hobby for sure 👌😎
The buggy you described kinda sounds like the Nikko Turbo Panther that was released in 1986 from what I remember. They were pretty cool little buggies. And like you said, the worst thing about em was that the batteries didn't last long no time.
That was crazy, man.
damn RC toys have come a long way since I was a kid, back then they had no torque at all but this thing rips
Best rc intro ever.. ❤ These toys look like they come pre-broke. The one you got feels like it's related to HK/Wltoys.
Thx dude!! Yeah, shared a lot of similar bits for sure
I haven't seen the 24th scale big time muscle cars in years, we used to modify them buy wiring in a 4th battery and shaving out the steering for better angle. Good speed, good handling, enough power for jumps, love em.
I remember when I was a kid niko made a half real rc it was 27mhz radio a 540 brushed moter and proportional steering that was almost shaped like a servo. I swapped most of it to real hobby grade parts
I've done stuff like this to toy grade cars since I was a kid....now, they would strip gears, burn off tires you couldn't get replacements for, and all kinds of stuff, but it never stopped me! Now I've been building full sized stuff for 15 years. You have to start somewhere. 😌
I hear that bro. I'll definitely go 1:1 scale as soon as I get the space 🤘😁
@linerc You can only ever do what you can. The fact that you made this video shows you are definitely somebody who when life give you lemons, you make lemonade. If the Walmart car is all you can afford right now, way to make it pay your bills!
I still mess with RC cars, including old Tyco, Nikko, and Radio Shack (re-badged Nikko) ones. It's STILL fun. Some of the best builds ever were those 1/6 scale New Bright cars they had in Walmart back in the late 2000's. You could make those into BEAUTIFUL scale rides, and this was long before everybody was into rock crawlers and all the scale accessories weren't all over the place like now.
You have the right attitude, man. Wish you the best.
Congrats on the success of this vid, well-deserved. Awesome job! You killed it!
My son had the one at 0:44, I think I enjoyed bouncing that thing around the house more than he did.
Little homie still isn’t allowed to touch my brushless rustler 4x4 build 😂
My first official rc was from radio shack. It was a black 4x4 truck, my second was a giant f450 with swappable wheels to mat tracks also RS. Those were the best toy grade rc' I have ever seen. It got me into hobby grade. Thankfully they started making crawlers and then trail trucks when I was finally able to get my first new rc. My first new hobby grade was the AX10 kit.
Yeah I had a couple RCs from Radio shack too they were pretty good for the time, they had friction shocks and proportional controls, I crashed one and broke it and my dad took me
to the local hobby shop to see if anyone there could help us fix it. There wasn't a way to fix mine, sadly. But I did get to rip a guy's gold pan buggy around and watch him jump
it and I was hooked. Dad had no idea how costly that LHS trip would prove to be over the course of my childhood. 😂
Nice! I guess we are "dating our self here" but yeah my first was also from Radio Shack. Oh gone are the days of running to your local electronics store with everything from resisters to men's razors now it's all shipped to you. I remember my cousin ordered an actual hobby grade one fromw then I believe it was the grass hopper and at the time was the fastest rc I had ever seen (probably only 25- 30mpg but it was super fun). I remember rushing home from school to play with it before he got off work that was in the mid 80's so it was all brushed and nicad batteries that lasted 5 min and took 5 hours to charge so I was able to get in a run before he got home.
I felt sad when that arm broke. That’s one thing I don’t miss about toy grade Rc cars
That's actually a pretty cool truck in vanilla form. The build looks pretty solid and looks like it could take some good off road abuse.
You could have used 2 long(ish) screws to replace the plastic pins that broke on that back wheel! Lil thought for future fixes in other videos.. overall great video tho keep it up!
Yeah my dude, I got this msg alot before. Totally right!! This is good Intel my dude 👍😎
Man, that was the FUNNIEST video I've seen in years! HAHAH! Hours of work. Trashed in 3 minutes...AWESOME, LOL!!! That was basically the story of my entire childhood!!!
Haha I know right?
I remember as a kid we had cool rcs from Tyco like the rebound, fast Trax and Hovercraft! Ah those were the days!
Still trying to find my Tyco from days of yore! I hear you loud and clear sir 🤘😎🤘
9.6v Turbo Bandit...I miss that truck
Always wanted to do something like this. I’m glad I watched this to see exactly how fast it would break😂. Little cars going stupid fast is one of my favorite things
That was pretty crazy, more than doubled the top speed ha! New sub here, looking forward to watching more of your videos. Much love from Texas!
What a cool little project! Loved to do something like that back in the days too. 👍
I think I'll be making another trip 😉
This video happen to come on my feed and ever since I've been into RC .....I'm 36 and never had this much fukin fun man thanks !!!!!
That's awesome!! Welcome the Brotherhood my guy! Happy to be of service 🤘😎🤘
More upgradeable than I thought. That was really cool. Very disappointed it didn't last. Would have liked to see you get more fun out of it but it was awesome while it lasted
Yep I got a green buggy from walmart recently, I bought some better and bigger tires for it, threw them on and the buggy was ripping and doing donuts....until the rear wheel broke off lol
man the memories when i used to buy all my RC's from Walmart lmao
to be fair though some are actually half decent
2 part epoxy should get you back in business. I know you were stoked when that diff dropped right in, too! Nice!
That’s epic.
The moment we've all been waiting for
i love these type of videos. awesome seeing the minimal amount of money spent, even if it does kind of fail. subbed!
Sweet!! Thanks for coming along for the adventure 👍😎
Yea I've had a few of those exact same ones(without mods) and those plastic pins keeping the wheels straight break super easy
For the 55 bucks, the Monster Jam Grave Digger is a good durable toy. No more New Bright junk. I bought one for my 3 year old grandson who already loves cars and this is his first RC. I thought he'd be a bit young, but I was wrong. He took right to it. It has a gyro in it so it can pull front and rear wheel stands and can run while in the wheelies. For 60 dollars? The whole family was playing with it and just loved it. Papa Dan was the hero yesterday. The Chinese are really giving Red Cat and Traxxas a run for their money.
You put in just the right amount of effort to make it worthwhile. Body & lights are pretty cool .
Thx dude! It seemed to have the right bones for it, but just abit too weak for that power 😅
I had 2 of those the tire hub broke on both vehicles same day this video was fun to watch 🎉❤
That so sucks, I feel your pain bro. Glad you liked it 😎👍
Man, I need to say, you are funny, your videos are pure joy... when you decided to go with 3 wheels.... LOL
That looks really cool! I have the Power Craze Dune 24 and it’s a great little car for running around the house. Super fast for it’s size if you have the space to let it run (I take it on my street for that). I got a 2 year Walmart warranty on it for $3 in case it breaks.
Appreciate the time you put in regardless bro!
Thx dude! Sometimes you win, and sometimes you lose. But if you can laugh about it all, then it's a win in my books 😂
Yea definitely a better rc for 60 bucks then i could get when I was a kid. And I’m only 20years old!! Love videos like this were a man completes a project. My dad has never been into projects so I have learned a lot on UA-cam. One day I’m going to get him hooked, as soon as I show him I can do it!!
I looked at you channel and seen this was a big upload for you man! Hate I have not seen this channel sooner but love that I found it.
Thx bro!! Glad you found it too dude!!
Yeah bro, times have really changed in a few short years! Show him the channel, maybe he will get hooked by watching me be a good ball 😅
Yea, that was cool. I've always wanted to try the same thing. looks like others have wanted to do it too.
Boy, you gave that thing some JUICE!
You should have sheared off all the studs and put a self tapping screw through the bottom to make it stronger
Nice job. It's actually a cool car for the price. I kind of like that big ass circuit board. Very enjoyable watching you upgrade and running on 3 wheels. Great job. 💯💯
I randomly found this video and I found it interesting!! Thankfully I did because I just subscribed! I love the commentary!! 😂😂😂 keep up the great work! With that spirit, I can see you reach way more subscribers in no time!
Aw shucks 🥹 Glad you've come along for the ride 😎
I have the car and I personally love it and a button on the controller makes it go faster and gets it to 20mph stock I kept mine stock since it works good enough
This video was great! I loved the intro and all your commentary plus the added bonus of the random part working on it 🤣
Haha glad you liked it bro! 🤘😎🤘
I love the effort. Great video man!
🙏🏻🙏🏻
Great vid and great upgrades! Come on people make sure you are subbed as the effort that goes into these vids is insane! Cheers Bro this was EPIC!
Aw shucks 🥹 you're too kind my guy!! Can't wait to get up to some shenanigans next week 😀
That was absolutely hilarious. Rc life is good.
Thx for coming along for the ride 👍😉
wow thats super solid for a walmart car
🤣🤣🤣. Thanks for doing what we all have wondered.
Any time!...and probably will do again 😜
It's fun to try n upgrade them to see how long they will pay. Surprise! Not long. Kind of miss messing around with these. Been awhile.
Brilliant 👍👍
My first time coming to your channel but I have to say this was very interesting! You should do more of these. 💯💯 You got my sub!!
Awesome!! Thanks for coming along for the ride!! 🤘😎🤘
We have watched that video at least 50 times, since last year lol
Oh yeah?! Sweet! 👍 What's your favorite bit?
You're the most fun to go shopping with you make it like we are there
Loved it! A buddy of mine has a Walmart p.o.s he wants/thinks he can "fix" . I'll show him this....TY! 😂
You always want and hope for the best...but that's usually when the rug get pulled out from under you 😂😂
Oh man, that was so fun,I knew where it was going,,great video really enjoyed it!!!😊
Nice, thank you!! Yeah, sometimes the best laid plans...well...🤣🤣
Power craze rc cars are one of the best toy grade cars to start with imo
As a kid i never had anreal "hobby" Rc car but i would take the motors out and swap them with high end hobby motors. The problem was the steering was not reponsive enough for the faster speeds.
Cool project, after a while it's like what else can I buy, upgrade and break 😆 enjoyed the vid 😉👍
You and me both!
'gettin' it now!" - I see someone watches Kevin Talbot ;) (Also - congrats on your viral video! I bet that helps offset the frustration of this thing breaking in 30 seconds lol)
I'm actually impressed with the setup on that for what it is. If it wasn't for that suspension lol but for 50 bucks not bad. Usually they have a nice body and they're awful inside.
Totally agree dude 👌
I bought those same cars for my niece and nephew this year and they love them. Glad to know that they are kinda decent :p
Alternative for those watching getting ideas.
You can get a Panda Tetra X1 from A Main hobbies from $80-100 depending on the color you want. 25 more dollars for a more common platform and more controls. Just thought I'd throw that out there.
Walmart used to have good RC cars I miss the Tyco rc cars from 80s
Man that was Awesome 😱👏👍
Great stuff! Keep it coming! Would love to see more of these projects. Subscribed.
I think I'll another 😜
@@disciplinerc Looking forward to it haha.
Wow that lil truck rips outa box🤯for what it is
Right? I kinda feel bad I gave it the 'treatment' cause it was pretty cool stock
@@disciplinerc no worries bro it was like 50 Dollars of awesomeness totally worth it🤘👊
A Mickey Mouse Walmart Beast to a disastrous 3 wheeler👀🤣
🤣🤣
In my personal experience, power craze has mad some pretty sweet, cheapo rc's. Some dont have proporional controls, but the body designs, and performance of the vehicles are a blast. I had a little micro buggy, and it was too fast for inside the house🤣
Using a drone motor from a snaptain SP650 hobby grade is a pretty solid option. Small but powerful
screws & pipe/ board stands for broken suspension pins.. what I've done since 1983
Kinda reminds me of the Tyco rc rigs that had power. Cool
Awesome video, was watching and when you went for your second burn I noticed you were at beach grove school! Tsawwassen gang 🤙
Yeah buddy!! 🤘😎🤘
Wow seems pretty neat for a Walmart score.
So funny and awesome that you did this. Kudos. Great content.
I notice hobby grade electronics ads slowly sneaking it’s way into toy grade stuff and it’s a good thing
I totally agree 👍
That was cool‼️👍👍🦾🦾
I love the ingenuity! I wondered if Walmart or Department store rc’s could be upgraded!
Stay tuned, there will be more 😉
Coolest rc vid I've seen in awhile. Awesome shit bro!
Thx bro!
MORE WE WANT MORE MORE OF THIS KIND OF VIDEO PLEASE ❤❤❤
I wonder what the 2 year protection plan, would’ve done for you 🤣 Awesome video and hilarious commentary🤘 Subscribed 👍👍
Omg right? That could have been a video all to itself 😂😂
You are an RC Legend! Maybe one day we could meet up and I can show you how well I drive an Xmaxx... 🤔
Sounds like a plan bro 🤘😘
Man sounds like the next blipi
I remember i had a car just like this (cheap hobby grade imitation) but it was significantly better imo i think it was called a desert fox or something i even might still have it around but no raido its what got me truly hooked into r/c cars i even added my own light system as a kid by tearing a lightbar from another car and glueing it on and hooking it to a 9v battery that was taped inside
Oh my god I need more of this...
This was good entertainment. When you said "aww I threw it and I broke it again" I lost my shit fr 🤣 🤣
Haha yeah, the hits just kept on coming 🤣🤣
This would be an awesome series!
Bro your a genius..

Dude you made that thing amazing
This is going to be AWESOME 2:32
The Monster Jam RC car with the super soft tires is actually really fun, faster than pretty much any of these other cars, and extremely lightweight and durable. My son and I have been playing with it for over year already. We drive it outside in the street, on grass and dirt. It is rechargeable and the battery holds a charge for a good amount of driving fun. Another really fun car is the RC Drifter at Costco. For $20, it is an awesome, super fun little car, but the plastic gear that meshes with the metal gear on the motor shaft doesn't last long. Still, it costs less than replacing the wheels on a Traxxas.
Thanks for those tips 👍 I think I'll be doing this segment more in 2024, I may already have something on the bench 🤫
i think that unit would be amazing to get as a first rc or something. it does really decent
Agreed, it's a backyard blaster for sure
