  • Mindo Ecuador is the most underrated town in the county. This Ecuadorian cloud forest is amazing and there's so much to do. It's only 90 minutes from Quito and is a beautiful drive.

    I love the food vlogs as indo like to eat. However, this series of you guys exploring places and doing the "touristy" thing are amazing. Today's was absolutely stunning. The dinner at the end of the waterfall portion looked fantastic. We have a butterfly migration that's nice to see at Point Pelee Park. I'll definitely add the farms to my bucket list.

    • @ayngelina
      @ayngelina  2 роки тому +1

      Oh I know Pelee wine with the monarch butterfly on it!
      Food is my first passion but in some places, especially northern Ecuador I'd be doing such a disservice not to focus on the nature. The food in Mindo is good but 20 years ago the town didn't exist, it was just a few houses so they also don't have the same culinary prowess of Cuenca or Cotacachi. In March I'm taking a coastal road trip so more food is coming and then also exploring some of the mangroves and natural areas. And of course the beach. Because I really want to go to the beach.

      I was there twenty years ago. It was for the more adventurous travelers then, not the easy life high luxury stuff. But the town itself was definitely there and yeah I can only remember one restaurant, essentially typical Ecuadorian fare. Looks like it's burgeoned into a sizeable tourist trap and all this talk of preservation is to help ease their consciences for all the development that's taken place in order to capitalize on the mighty tourist dollar. Not that I fault them, of course, because I'd do the same in their position. I'm happy they're being as biofriendly as they are in the process.

    • @ayngelina
      @ayngelina  2 роки тому +1

      @@jamisonmoore8029 yessss this is what my goal is! Not to make things difficult but to show that Ecuador is small but incredibly diverse. The nice thing is that nothing is too far away. So you can live anywhere and visit these spots. Honestly I think too many expats get hung up on deciding where they want to live for peace of mind. Then they buy a place and realize its not quite what they expected. Most people move from their first forever home. So just be open, and absolutely rent instead of buying so you can travel, learn more about Ecuador and decide for yourself.
