Soooo...as a point of clarity for everyone who didn't listen to my initial opening comment, I am comparing the PLX 500 to the Technics because I could not find any reviews on it (the PLX 500). It is COMPARED to the 1200 to show the differences that I FOUND. I am a fan of Pioneer and it was not meant to bash the PLX 500 unit. I initially thought of replacing my Technics for something newer and thought I would give them (the PLX 500) a try. I COMPARED them based on what I found. So based on MY COMPARISON I feel that the 1200 is better. Thanks for the likes!
Thanks for the review. I haven't touched my technics in years because DJing is a hobby. Gonna sell em and if I get back into it just order the PLX new off Amazon.
Technic 1200 is at least $1000. Some places are more. I just bought the Pioneer 500 for $370. It works the same. The swivel feet help with vibrations. Technic 1200 so old school. You forgot to mention: The Pioneer has its own amplifier built in and you can hook it to a computer for recording your music.
There is s Shell Weight included when you buy this turntable. It adds +4g onto your cartridge which is enough to prevent Amy unwanted skipping through movement. it also decreases the amount of wobble/movement when scratching! very useful IF you choose to use the included cartridge.
But this is irreational because it is the entre level pioneer turntable that cartridge needs to be replace for normal play if you are going to use alot let alone for scratching.
The torque of the original technics is 1,5 Kilo, so it's the same as the plx 500! The plx 1000 has 4,5 Kilo - THAT you can actually call "high torque". For me it doesn't matter anyway. What matters is the wrms. It's 0,01 for the technics and 0,15 for the pioneer, which is a difference of more than 10 percent! Think about that...
Appreciate the review, but this is like comparing a cadillac to a camry. I'm sure I'll find a video on it, but a better comparison would be between the plx-1000 vs. 1200.
If you ever needed to replace one of your technics then I'd recommend the Reloop 7000 Mk2 - absolute stellar units. Especially for scratching with the variable high torque motor. 👍
How is the torque? Good enough for tutrntablist's? Also, how durable are they overall, you can have plenty of torque on a banger & you also get bangers that look amazing but the torque just isn't there, I hope you get what I'm saying. I have Technics 1210's Mk11's, Stanton STR8-150's, I also have an old Numark C.D./ Vinyl hybrid Turntable, It's great but a tad dated. It had the highest torque of any other Numark turntables at the time, interchangeable tone arm, You can play it as just a normal turntable however it has a Special spindle which allows you to control a C.D. it has a drive on the front making it one of the 1st true hybrid's of its kind, next to the QFO I cant think of anything else that allowed you to switch between vinyl and C.D. The control platter/ record also had samples & tones on it to scratch to a beat playing from the same single unit, 1st time dealing with key lock too. The Vestax PDX 1000 have the pitch I'm looking for, how does the Reloop 7000 Mk2 compare to the deck's I have mentioned? I think the Pioneer 1000 is what I'm going to go for, then it will be easier to save up for a C.D.J. 3000 for the other channel's on my XDJ XZ. Sorry for rabbiting on a bit much lol

we sell the 500's at my job (Sweetwater sound) the motor is more like that of the Numark TT-200. I much prefer the 1200, stronger motor. the 500 is plasticy.. Regarding the tone arm I would change the cart to the Shure M447, you'll find the needle sticks in the groove much better. The 1200 is just a better built deck hands down, the 500 is ok for the newb, but for a serious DJ the 1200 is gold standard.
I bought a gemini 2400 turntable from a yard sell for just $50. The motor is just as strong if not stronger than a 1200. I did not know what I had bought and I guess the people who sold it did not know what they had. My dj buddy came over and he to was blown away. I found a matching table on ebay for $75. I just keep my 1200's secure in the box now. Funny part is I put some stickers over the Gemini sign and everyone thinks they are 1200's until I them otherwise.

I Bought two of the PLX 500s and I'm very disappointed. I chose the newer technology over the old and I'd 100% recommend sticking with the old. Although you can record all your vinyl straight off the turntable and have a digital version of it to play on cdjs the technics are miles ahead in terms of how well built built they are. If you're in the market for a budget turntable but actually want some kind of quality, I'd probably go with the Audio Technica LP120X. It's almost exactly the same as the Pioneer but costs almost 100 dollars less and has proper RCA jacks instead of a hardwired cable.
With the AT LP120 you need to mod it to bypass the crappy internal phono pre-amp which dampens the sound and run the phono signal to an external phono box. Noticable improvement in sound but it adds to the cost
@@Takeshi357 Yes there is a switch but it doesn't really bypass the pre-amp. Plenty of videos and forum posts around showing that the tonearm signal still needs to traverse several capacitors which dampen the sound. Trust me, the hype is real - the $80 it cost me to have my LP120 modded at the local record store was the best investment I made in the turntable. Made the sound louder and brighter. Way better improvement than when I put on the Ortofon Nightclub Mk2 cartridge. Of course, you then either need to run the phono output to a phono input on your receiver or buy a phono pre-amp (I got a Project Phonobox E), but if you don't mind spending a couple of bucks on your hobby its not an issue.

Overall the turntable is great for listening to vinyl. The comparison was to show differences I found. If you're not scratching or overworking it (say in a club atmosphere or venue) it's just fine. The headshell and stylus seems fine.
why would you compare it to a something that is $350??? It's an entry level unit. Also the ability to rip vinyl. It's not a battle style turntable. More for a 3rd deck to add.
Do you think a Miata is the same quality as a Porsche. You compared a $350 table to one which last cost $1800, and is now $4000. What is the point of the comparison? The PLX1000 is quality more in line with an old out of production Technics.
Apples and oranges, can't compare the 2, the Tech's will always be superior, but the PLX 500's are decent bedroom and or small studio, beginner turntables, but for the money, IMO, I would rather buy the Audio Technica ATLP 120's I have used them many times, when my Techs broke or if I was at my friends who owned them, they feel damn near the same as Techs and damn near look the same as well!!!
Heather Hulings I feel you. I just called it like I see it. I am a pioneer fan... I was just comparing. Based on my observation. I agree, It is apples to oranges.
Pioneer PLX500 and AT LP120 are actually one & the same, except for couple of design changes. So I find it hilarious when I see individuals who claim how Pioneer is much better than Audio Technica. They are both made by the company Hanpin, at the same factory. But don't get the wrong idea , I love my LP120 and otherwise completely agree. If you can't afford the SL1200, you're better with LP120 than PLX500, because AT closely resembles Technics.
@@vicsveneratedvlogs7172 You should already know that in the DJ and audio business...you get what you pay for. I have Plx500 and a Technics 1200. I knew before I even got the plx that even though respectable, that it wouldn't measure up to the 1200's. The difference in the motor's torque already saw to that.👍🏾
After 27 years of using the MK2's , i,ll have replace Them for the GR,s , the mk7,s but they are feeling too light, the plx1000,s is that the synchronisation of the pitch is one of the issues the plx have and for me as a techno DJ playing with 3 Technics GR,s is a good pitchsyncronisation important and the GR is a really better turbtable than the MK2 and also Friends of my who are Scratch DJ,s and they having the mk7,s they also saying the GR,s are really master to playing with! And if you want to compare the mk7 (Malaysia, Premium Class) or the GR (Japan, Grand Class) than is IT not dificault what the best turbtable is for the forthcoming 25 years!
Hey how's it going I'm Dj Coronaboy ... In my opinion if you're going to compare Dj Equipment use flagship equipment... So instead of comparing a "Dj entry level" PLX - 500 vs "Dj standard" Technics 1200 you should rightfully use the PLX-1000 instead. I personally have all 3 and would never compare a 500 vs 1200. PLX - and also to be fair the same type of needle if anything (the same needle) should be used... the 500 comes with its own sub par cartridge.. you can't compare that to a Stanton cartridge while showing the differences.. In the end you need to try the PLX 1000 vs 1200's both to see the slight differences and the weight and led light won't be 2 of them... while the 1200's are built to last and still the industry standard at this time the PLX 1000 comes with a detachable power cord and RCA plugs which are a plus but are very similar once you are on them both... again in my opinion ..
James Armendariz Great comments and I agree. I was just curious on the performance of the 500. When I made the video, I didn’t see many 500 videos on the performance of them besides the paid advertisements.
in my opinion the technics are highly overpriced. Unless your a scratch DJ I think there isn’t much point in spending the extra money on the 1210 over the PLX 500
You have to compare the 1000 model, most of us know this is not a real dj turntable, good as a first turntable the cost is very fair, unless your want a crosley😂😂

You compare astethietics (i.e., the light) that have nothing to do with sound output. it's obvious you are not an audiophile. Also, how much bumping are you doing during your sets that causes your table to shift? This is a bad review comparison.

But don't get the wrong idea , I love my LP120 and otherwise completely agree. If you can't afford the SL1200, you're better with LP120 than PLX500, because AT closely resembles Technics.
Gracias amigo saludos desde chile
Anyone know what track that is
You can’t compare because of the price difference for the amount you pay for the pioneer it’s a great deck
Why compare a $400 TT to a much more expensive one?
The Plx500 is fine for what it is.
The Plx1000 is the the direct competitor to the Technics.
Why? Because I wanted a less expensive alternative to the much more expensive one.

You should already know that in the DJ and audio business...you get what you pay for.
I have Plx500 and a Technics 1200.
I knew before I even got the plx that even though respectable, that it wouldn't measure up to the 1200's.
The difference in the motor's torque already saw to that.👍🏾
That 1200 is fully modded and set up. i used 1700s when i was a kid, if you can cut, cut
its missing a stock weight right above the needle it would jump cause of that
After 27 years of using the MK2's , i,ll have replace Them for the GR,s , the mk7,s but they are feeling too light, the plx1000,s is that the synchronisation of the pitch is one of the issues the plx have and for me as a techno DJ playing with 3 Technics GR,s is a good pitchsyncronisation important and the GR is a really better turbtable than the MK2 and also Friends of my who are Scratch DJ,s and they having the mk7,s they also saying the GR,s are really master to playing with! And if you want to compare the mk7 (Malaysia, Premium Class) or the GR (Japan, Grand Class) than is IT not dificault what the best turbtable is for the forthcoming 25 years!
1200’s will always be king
Good review
I think you would like the plx 1000 Better than the 500. It's a while lit better
Cash Masters I’m sure. I heard it’s solid.
@@vicsveneratedvlogs7172 I think it’s plz 1000 looks like better decks all together serious
Nice Dallas Cowboys hat!
plx 1000 is way different feel from the plx 500
nice video thanks

No prob!
what's the title of the remix?
Kevin Felisilda Erykah Badu Bag Lady.
what is a music ?
If you're referring to what song I'm sampling in the video, it's Bag Lady by Eryka Badu.
No Comparison!
Thanks for sharing....

Bag Lady... Erykah Badu.
What is that redrum?
The song is Eryka Badu Bag Lady.
Thanks yes, but who does the redrum? It has a nice punchier sound to it. Good for shows
John Cha
in my opinion the technics are highly overpriced. Unless your a scratch DJ I think there isn’t much point in spending the extra money on the 1210 over the PLX 500
Hey James .. what would be your recommendation for someone who DOES NOT DJ.. but just plays records ... not doing anymore audio technica products
300 euro vs 1500 euro
I think it’s normal 👍🏻
You have to compare the 1000 model, most of us know this is not a real dj turntable, good as a first turntable the cost is very fair, unless your want a crosley😂😂
thx mate doo video..good explain...ill bux pioneer ill guess
Well that's why that pioneer 299.00 is is not really a good equipment....You Have to spent at least a thousand to get a unit

You are on battle mode.....
Ojo .. Se borro mi posteo y criticas a de las empresas (Pioneer) & (Technics) ... La 1200 imitada siempre, igualada jamas 😀😀😀
Pioneer Hanpin Shit!!! Technics the Best
Super
The plx1000 is more like the 1200.. heavier than the 1200 even
You compare astethietics (i.e., the light) that have nothing to do with sound output. it's obvious you are not an audiophile. Also, how much bumping are you doing during your sets that causes your table to shift? This is a bad review comparison.
Although it was my comparison, thank you for your opinion. Feel free to upload one with your items of importance.
Ooo Wee thank you for your permission. 😂😂😂😂😂
Easiest part of my job.
Dude I'm sorry but you're comparing apples to oranges.
They are both turntables. He's not comparing a turntable and a cd deck. So I'm not sure what you mean.
Non-vinyl record
Comparing a cheap turn table with an expensive one...really
Record needle
Bota peso nesse braço que o disco nao pula!

B...SH.T JEEZ...
Your comparison between head shells was whacked and biased.
Which turntable and head shells do you prefer/recommend?
Your bothered about a light ffs I've seen scratching on them sort you weights adjust height get rid of cart get a pro s, I've just got one myself, technics is dead and betrayed the dj community that helped build them their hated
Which cartridge you recommend?
Both suck.. have mine since 75.. straight from Okinawa..
Dont even have to watch the video to tell you the plx-500 is a piece of shit that's only good for playing records
Plx 500 It's garbage made of plastic
Pioneer is copy cat....
LOL... yes the Technics is better... it is also 3-4X the price of the Pioneer .... !!! If you can afford the Technics then that is the one to get but if money is an issue then the Pioneer is a very nice unit !!!
Good review
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
thanks!
