I’m Czech nationality. With my Japanese husband we lived in Setagaya and my son was born in Seijo Gakuen Mae. Same residential area as described in this video. I liked it there. Odakyu sen, we lived in Kyodo eki. Later my husband transferred to Osaka with job and it has never been the same. I never liked Osaka. Setagaya was pretty! ❤
i like ur video. it is useful for me learning japanese language. it's refreshing to find a japanese youtuber who speaks their own language. i really appreciate you for this video. btw, are we allowed to have a request? i personally would love to see hidden gem places in japan, and perhaps some nature related places as well. countryside also fine. thank you! arigatougozaimashita.
Glad I found your video. My uncle used to live in Setagaya-ku with my Japanese aunt for 30 years. Unfortunately by the time I had enough savings and time to visit Japan he'd passed away so I skipped this area. Turned out the houses and gardens are so big by Japan's standards. Good to know he'd lived well... The sakura trees are so pretty. Thanks for showing us around, stay safe and healthy! (Btw, I like your voice). 😊❤🌸
My student accomodation was a 20m walk from Seijogakuen-mae (and it was the station I used to get into town), loved living there!!! It was fun looking at the fancy houses and cars
I like your voice. It's kinda charming (?). It'll sound better with better mic I guess. Your voice has potential to become an ASMR. And I like the neighborhoods as well. I'll definitely take a walk there on weekends. It'll look like a heaven with better camera and more stable movement. Anyway, thank you for the video! Keep up the good work! Ganbatte ne! 😄
Wonderful! I just visited Tokyo and it is great to watch a video that reminds me of this wonderful experience. Yes, the Netherlands and Denmark are particularly bike-friendly - you would enjoy places like Amsterdam and Copenhagen for sure. I was surprised to see a lot of bicycles in Tokyo and even more surprised that they seem to drive left lane, right lane or sidewalk, as they see fit - while everybody else calmly and closely follows the traffic rules. Anyway, what a wonderful country you have 🤍❤🤍
Ah that's a very nice and quiet area with sakura. You are right that crowded spots are quite off-putting, too many people just make it unpleasant. I never visited this area before though, I should try it sometime when I return to Tokyo.
An American dream: To live in an American house, owning a German car, having a French Chef, with a Japanese wife. An American nightmare: To live in a Japanese house, owning a French car, having a German Chef, with an American wife.
I just got back to London after visiting Japan for a month. I miss the bidet and food in Japan. People are so polite and their culture is more refined than European people 😮
Very interesting been there years ago and loved it would love to go back to Japan. Yes Netherlands are the most friendly bicycle country in Europe among with Denmark,. You can watch on youtube how many project there are. You say Europe but have in mind there are many differences between countries, Easter Europe, Central, Benelux, Scandinavia, the UK, The Balkan, many many differences still. When I am watching this Video it reminds me of the Wind up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami I read the book 25 years ago and the character always took the odakyu line from his place in Setagaya to Shinjuku. It's like having the pictures now to the story in the book.
I had visited Tokyo/ Kyoto last month during end of March/ April 1st week for Hanami ( Cherry Blossom viewing ), it was very beautiful, Philosophers Path at Kyoto is very similar to above Sakura walking path at Seijo, ( kindly communicate the name of the path/ exact location, I will come there during my next visit to Tokyo, 🙏🙏 Arigatou gozaimashita, From, India
Japan is such a humble and frugal country. There is nothing luxurious here, and whatever luxury it claims has the feel of grandfather's clock. I was shocked at the Deigoku Hotel's buffet menu: roast beef, curry rice, castera, baked mackerel, dandanmyun, apple pie. I thought Deigoku was Japan's flagship hotel, and it did not serve scalop, lobster, king crab, steak, etc., like other 5 star hotels around the world. So what if you made udon noodle with your soul in it? So what if you made a perfect castera? Wheat is wheat, cheapie is cheapie. Enough for saving materials. Japan is so much about showing and packaging. Everything feels streril, tiny and clinical like the thumb-size dessert it serves. There is no feast, no mansion, no extravagance, no excess in Japan; it is stifling at times.
There isn't that much residential space around the palace - mostly the land is occupied by huge, busy roads and expressways - in other words, not a very peaceful and quiet area to live - there are some residential plots not far from there and it is not cheap for sure - you would still have to be pretty well off to live there.
@@oxfordtiger ...of course; more in the sense of wondering about why not in the past the rich neighborhoods do not developed in that area or near (before the expressways etc) Also I lived in Tokyo and I am aware of that area.
@@TheReverb1 Maybe it was because of WWII - a lot of central Tokyo was firebombed and people were moved out to the suburbs. I remember one of my old students telling me that she used to live in a house in Ginza but during the war had to move to Koshigaya way out in Saitama - looking at land prices now doesn't sound like such a good deal!
Many people wear them this time of year to prevent the effects of pollen and yellow sand. Even before the corona epidemic, Japan had a culture of wearing masks👍
@7:40 That's a Toyota Century, aka 'the Rolls Royce of Japan'. Being a petrol head, I always get annoyed when I see a Japanese person who's not very knowledgeable about their own automotive culture. It's so rich and interesting!
The land price if you are living in city centre or close to centre then be assured its a minimum of 10 million$ usd and up only . House might look old and doesn't scream rich but the land the location determine the price! , that always the case in most Asian cities because in city centre there's still residential house left from long time ago when city was first established, and pass down to younger generation, those house might be really small and not gorgeous looking but its price are sky high.
@remmond3769 Let’s be specific. The area mentioned in this video called 成城学園前 is NOT a luxurious area. This is a fact. If you don’t agree, check the property price in 成城学園前 and compare with that of Shibuya or Roppongi. We are not talking about likes/dislikes. Luxury means expensive. If you are talking about luxury from other perspective, then there is no need for discussion because there is no standard
