You seem like such a lovely person, you don't seem to be acting fake on camera like the rest of the bigger UA-camrs, you're not obnoxious or over the top but at the same time you're not boring, you seem educated and caring, your parents did a great job bringing you up lol
Can you make a video about shooting on film ? In terms of what cameras you use and started with, also what films you use and where you get your films developed. I‘m shooting on film since 10 years now but very naively i would say and i want to step up my game now . I spend 10 days in japan a few years back and I loved it, I felt so so save and loved to stroll around the streets. Definitely want to go back so watching your vlogs put me in a mood. I really enjoy watching your content atm! :)
Japan as a whole is an introvert paradise. Being alone is totally normal and accepted because most japanese are introverts. Also they loooove their own space and privacy. So if you're alone outside, nobody would judge and think of you as a loser or a loner like in the west. I love that I could sit and browse in cafes and shop by myself without being bothered by other people. I feel truly at home in Japan than in my home country in Germany. That's why I go there every year for a few months, just to enjoy the peace and quiet (also the impeccable service, good manners and politeness that lacks here in germany) :-)
Hey Lizzy!👋 I just want to humbly say that you have become one of the few people I enjoy watching here.😊 Your unique personality comes through and I feel you might be in a good place in life at the moment, or so I hope for you! Loved every single item and thoughts you shared with us today! 💕 Lots of love xx
You are so enjoyable to watch and listen. So very good and quality of a recup of your mind&thoughts about the experience of it all. I loved the sweater vest it is so timeless and yet cool and funky!
So happy you enjoyed Japan! It's always nice to see someone experiencing my home country. Do try Kyoto! It is beautiful all year. Sending my love from Tokyo🇯🇵❤️
Your Japan videos (including this one) are definitely some of the best content I have watched on here recently. Just so grateful for all the work you do :)
Dear Lizzy, could you make a video as the introduction into film photography? I always loved it but I don't know where to start with making my own photos. Kisses
Definitely start with 35mm - the Pentax k1000 is the camera my photography teachers are uni would recommend to the foundation students because it's cheap to buy and will help you learn how to shoot manually. 💕
Hey Lizzy, you should title this thoughts & haul. It’s so helpful and a lot of people could find value in your Japan thoughts . Loved following along ❤️❤️
I have such fondness for you Lizzy! Plus you make me chuckle! Thank you for sharing this stationary haul 😉 Loved it - wouldn’t have had it any other way! xx
A lot of Japanese authors write about cats......Takashi Hiraide, Junichiro Tanizaki, Hiro Arikawa and the books fit in a small bag. Is your diary a Hobonichi? And the pouches are lovely....very practical.
It is indeed a Hobonichi! I use the same one - love it. The paper is great for fountain pens, but it also works great with rollerball pens, gel pens, or low-viscosity ballpoint pens (like the Uni Jetstream pen, which Hobonichi sends along for free when you order a planner book from their website).
Lizzy has never read mangas hahah I went to Japan a month ago and i did a lot of shopping too. I was in love with the street style (harajuku girls felt long forgotten) and found some great shops in kyoto and in daikyanama (i was also a victim of life's, could have spent all my money there!). I'd go back alone for a week just for shopping lol
AHHHHHH!!! You got a Hobonichi A6 Planner! :) I'm just finishing my first year in this same book - absolutely love it. I already have my 2020 book waiting to go. Hobonichi uses Tomoe River Paper, which is just glorious. I hope you enjoy it!
Like the other comments, i would love a video about film cameras, i have always enjoyed photography and i love taking photos on my dslr, but i'm dying to own an analog camera. And yeah chinese and japanese have the best stationery shops, they are quite addictive.
Thanks for the links! I've been to Japan 3 times and going back there next year for my 40th birthday! next time you're in Japan, try Royce chocolate...they're so good.
I had that diary last year, I loved it. I am moving back to moleskine this year but I really enjoyed it. Love the bit to write what you had for dinner too. Hobonichi Techo - you can get them online too and little covers for it.
OMG this highneck jumper is PERFECTION. Totally feel ya about the japanese/korean insta feeling, so satisfying these shapes they wear and how the pics are taken. Also fascinated
I use the novia macadamia version, they’re great lip balms. 👍 happy to hear dispute your jet lag you your first solo trip was a positive experience. Hope you take many more. I take 1 yearly to recharge.

those stationary shops would of been my 15 year old selfs dream actually still today 💗💗💗
I haven't laughed in the last year as much as I did in the last few minutes watching your video. I'm heading to Japan in October of next year (hopefully), and I'm definitely going to check out the store you bought the beautiful sweater at!
If other women are considering going on holiday alone, a cruise is a good starting point. You can get to see a few locations and if your in need of company you can choose to sit at a mixed group table for dinner or join in some activities . Wine tasting was a good place to find like minded people...
Buying stationeries & pens in Japan is something I do also. It's definitely an experience. They offer such a great variety that I spend a good amount of time perusing their aisles. Trust me, Lizzy. I get it. Lol!
I used to watch this kind of videos. I still like Lizzy alot. But I stopped watching this type of videos now and instead I spend most of my time watching, My Self Reliance, Joe Robinet etc mostly bushcraft channels. It’s more relaxing. It’s more me. Anyway, it’s nice to see you’re still uploading videos and still active. I remember you and Harry at your old flat together. Take care and thanks 😊
Two questions for you if you've got the time! How did you find navigating the language? I saw in your vlogs that a lot of the signage was also English but I was just wondering what that was like? Secondly lol I've shot on film before but I'm itching to get back into it. I've read your blog post on shooting on film but I was wondering if what you'd suggest as a starter camera was still the same? And lastly the quality of the Mamiya is insane! Definitely think I can start off with something cheaper but I did have a cheeky look on eBay haha. Might treat myself for Christmas :) Much love from Canada.
Sydney Alexandra I’d love to know what the language barrier was like too! One of the things that makes me nervous about going there as I don’t know any Japanese x
Having been to Japan twice, I have found that most people working in the service industry could understand simple spoken English quite well, but struggled speaking it oftentimes - even in touristy places. That being said, signage in bigger cities and around main sights is indeed also in English and it is incredibly easy to find your way around with google maps. When the language barrier was insurmountable typing things out on google translate has always worked for me. Bottom line - never actually had a problem to get information, sometimes you just have to get a bit creative.
There's plenty of English information in bigger cities, like maps etc. The only real problem is if you're taking local trains in more rural areas. The metro and bullet train has English announcements. Even in restaurants where people aren't good at English, people will try to help you, especially younger people. Having said that, approaching people on the street for help can be a mixed bag, because some people are quite shy or worried they will make mistakes in English, and other people are basically fluent. It's worth remembering that most Japanese can read and write English better than speak or listen. So if totally stuck, it's best to write or show them something in English. If it's a bar, or the evening where people are drinking, you'll find they are more sociable LOL. A lot of Japanese words are loan words from English or other European languages and they watch a lot of English language movies and TV. Large train stations can be a little intimidating at first, but it's easy to get the hang of it. From a traveller perspective, the biggest problem is wifi (or it was a few years ago). There are plenty of wifi networks, but they are often provided by the big networks and need a password. Best to get a portable wifi I think, but I had my phone, so I don't know which one to recommend. As far as cameras, I would say if possible, find a camera store that has a selection you can try out and see which one feels right. SLRs, rangefinders or point and shoots are all pretty similar, it just depends whether you want to compose through the lens, or want something quiet and compact. I think it comes down to 3 things (in terms of user experience), do you want to have the option to focus manually and do you want a built in flash, and weight - because heavier cameras can get annoying. Other than that they are pretty similar until you start spending a lot of money.
Abigael Dewit Me toooo! I tracked it down though and just ordered myself a copy - doesn’t seem there are many out there available in UK but type in this ISBN into amazon and there might another one...9784416617045 Good luck! 😊

I mean really.... Who has the time to begin being a new person?? ;) Love the video, as I love all of them. Keep up the good work simply being an old person! Well, not old, but just a present person.
I always watch out for your uploads. Your such a kind person and not like some other you tubers who are so fake just trying to sell you stuff. I found this vid inspiring as you have given me thoughts of going away alone. Can you tell me apart from you tube are you a fashion buyer? Just interested thanks
I really love your UA-cam videos and I consider you a friend you made my life in general by entertaining me on UA-cam and I’m thankful and grateful for that I do hope we meet in person someday but at least for now we could communicate on here and I look forward to getting to know you on here and in general I do love you your a friend of mine and you made my life I hope you get this post because I just want you to know that it’s true and hopefully you put a heart on the post I would appreciate that but I hope you’re doing well and I wish you good luck with whatever you’re doing with your life ❤️❤️🥰🥰
i’m really enjoying your content at the moment, i haven’t been following you for a long time tho but sometimes it really comes across (i may be wrong) that you come from a very posh background. and the things/clothing/experiences you mention aren’t really accessible to the general public and you mention them quite lightheartedly as if it’s not a big deal? which bothers me a little bit, it would be nice if you are a little bit more thoughtful... maybe your target audience is upper class girls? idk just food for thought
“I haven’t found the time to begin being a new person yet.” Love it. That quote deserves to be included in your new planner.
I agree, accidentally profound.

the cat book is sooo cool! I love books with simple little drawings like that, I find them super inspiring for my own art :))
I don’t know you but I’m so proud of you and so happy you loved your first solo Japan trip because I freaking so LOVED it!
The hair cut is amazing.
Oh you got the Hobonichi journal! Yeah, that's how obsessed I am with Japanese stationery! But they truly are the best.
I have been flirting with the idea of getting a mamiya for some time. I love the dynamic range and low contrast look of medium format.
I love it so much, well worth the money in my opinion! xx
nice to see you looking happier and your old humor back. love you!

"I have a lot of stationary here to show you which I didn't need to buy".. Yes, yes you did! :)
Any reason why you choose the Mamiya 7, rather than the Mamiya 6? Do you prefer the aspect ratio of the 7?
I love stationary... 😍21:28 what brand is that pouch???? I want it too!!!!
Never enough pens, and now I'm inspired to buy a Hobonichi planner and cute pens.
