    Do what makes you happy Lizzy, if you feel like you have in any way grown out of the space you live in currently, like you need to move on and continue your journey elsewhere, then do that - changes in our lives are inevitable, but we can always choose to either take control or do nothing and allow regrets to sneak in later... I hope you’re ok and happy. I adore your attitude to life in general, love your character and sense of humour, enjoy your content so much, and I hope to see all that to continue coming from you 💜 xx

    I used to work for Levis and the colours of the jeans very much affect the fit. Definitely understand that you don't want 10 pairs of the same colour jeans but I think that might be the only way to do it (and then you can sell some afterwards) because with Levis, I was a 26 in their light wash 501s and a 29 in the black 501s so it varies massively (it's because of the dye and the fact that they are washed before being sold, which most good denim brands will do so this should be the same for a lot of the brands you review, especially the higher end ones)

    So refreshing to hear someone talk about their struggles and just general mental health/self care. As someone who constantly overthinks and has trouble being content or finding 'happiness' I really appreciate hearing your thoughts! So thank you 💜

    Sometimes the wash of the jeans makes the fit of it different. Usually I've seen that black jeans are tighter than mid wash blue jeans from the same brand even when they are the same size. But I totally understand not wanting to purchase a shed load of the same wash, so you do you Lizzy xx.

    Hi Lizzy! So excited for your move! Just a note on your testing basics: I work for a fashion house and retailer and from my work I can tell you that the fit and fabric of jeans often differ according to the wash. To keep it a fair test or keep it consistent, I would try and stick with the same fabric content or similar-ish washes. I would also like o suggest doing a separate Testing Basics for just Levi’s. They have so many styles and cuts that can look straight legged depending on your body type. It maybe interesting to your viewers to know the difference between their fits. Anyway, sending good vibes your way and I love your videos. X

    Happy to see your taking the time to step back and see what you can do for yourself. I had many negative events happen in the last two years (a long term relationship breakup and a family breakdown). At some point it gets overwhelming, especially if your someone like me who is typically more logical than emotional. My best advice is to quite liturally slow things down, be kind to yourself and talk to someone who knows how to help you xx

    I’ve always been an overthinker as well, I get get so stuck in my head. The things that I found help me are writing my thoughts down, usually on a computer or notes on my phone as I find it faster, and easier to stick to, and ballet as it is so hard and demanding, I have to focus on my body and my mind is finally quiet ! 😃

  • @k213389
    @k213389 5 років тому +2

    My therapist has me make charts describing the thoughts, physical sensations, and feelings I experience whenever I face a particular struggle (shame about my body, fear of letting people down, etc). Then she has me write the things that help alleviate the bad feelings. It’s really helped me approach these problems with more self-compassion. And it doesn’t take very long to do.
    If you want to try something kind of weird, try writing with your non dominant hand. It won’t be legible but sometimes it helps your subconscious thoughts get out. Things that you didn’t know you were feeling suddenly come through. I used to do it before I went to sleep.

    actually I think the fit of jeans depends a lot on the wash. I have the same asos and topshop style in different washes and they fit so differently. The black are always the smallest.

    Very sorry to heat about your struggles. I can relate to most of them actually. Meditation has been very helpful. In the beginning I tried headspace, but for me it was very hard to “work” alone and I prefer to attend meditation classes. In Victoria, there is a fabulous place called “Re:Mind” where you can attend different classes. Have a look.
    Never tried Yoga, but many people love it.
    Eckhart Tolle “The Power of Now” book was a gift sent from heaven. He is a genius and the book helped me so much (Oprah’s recommendation actually).
    Don’t worry Lizzy, happier days will come for you.

    Hey Lizzy, I definitely relate to having that constant noise inside your head that you don't know how to deal with. A couple of years ago it got so much that I was doing things just to shut it up, like I constantly had shows, podcasts, books in the background so I couldn't hear myself; I've been to a psychologist 4 or 5 times and a really good priest (I'm catholic so that's a big thing for me), which was very difficult because I'm not naturally a sharer, and what I found was that I wasn't happy with the situation I was in, mainly the university I was studying at, but at the same time I felt it was important (and also a pride thing) to finish so I was constantly shutting myself. I then started making the effort to listen to myself, as painful as it was, and trying to manage my thinking ( a good read on overthinking is The Screwtape Letters by CS Lewis, it helps you realise that not all the negative thoughts are real) which means that you learn to recognise when you're spiraling so you are able to stop. I don't much believe in tarot readings but I understand how you could argue that's what religion is and I definitely think it all comes from the same need of spirituality so to each its own. xx
    ps. One thing that 100% helps is writing things down, not to read it back, just to get it out of your head. I think feeling this way is more common that we think, we just don't talk about it and we should.
    (i really love what you do on instagram and youtube)

    I love the most expensive ones being in mid wash. With your status and platform you could easily sell the ones you don't want after. (I think the mid wash colour in the hardest to nail in fit and colour and I really want to know if say Redone do it well - which I couldn't gather from a review of black jeans)

    I know I won't write my thoughts down everyday but at night when going to bed I often ask myself what would I do tomorrow if I had no commitments & money didn't matter. After considering my answers (which can result in long terms goals I think about what sounds good in a realistic fashion like getting a massage or buying a new tea or seeing a friend.

    I think black fabrics for jeans especially is polarizing because I find the thickness of the fabric or dye used can be very different from standard blue jeans. However, I'm really struggling to look for a quality pair of heavy black denim so I wouldn't mind for them to be included at all!

    Good luck on the move, East London is the best ! It’s my place so I am biased. Looking forward to seeing you settle in there.
    Bit of an over thinker myself (understatement) and I did try the daily journal and I understand the reasonings of it but I found that it made me worse ! Kind of started over thinking the over thinking. Personally I find philosophical thinking rather than chats with a spiritualist much, much more helpful - a good starting place to dip into is The School of Life, you may be familiar with them, they have a youtube channel, might be worth a nose at. Also, try not to feel guilty about focusing on yourself, remember there is a big difference between me, me, me and taking care of yourself.
    Absolutely loved how you ended the vlog X

    I can imagine that being self-employed, being your own boss and working on your own schedule probably contributes to some of the overanalyzing and overthinking (and I imagine some of the decision fatigue you experience). Is there any part of your process or content or schedule you can hand over to someone else? It's amazing how having some of your life decisions in the control of someone else forces you to "let go" of them, generally. It can be scary and it may be something you don't like, but learning to trust that everything will work out in the end is a process that really requires you to become more intuitive, and be more "feely". I can't completely articulate what I want to say, but hopefully it helps, somewhat!

  • @hildee8802
    @hildee8802 5 років тому

    When it comes to love, you can't analyze and be all in your head. You have to make decisions with your heart. Sounds very sentimental, I know. The thing is, if you made the "wrong" choice you will never regret it if it was a choice you made because you followed your heart. Besides, it might be the choice that helps you learn what you are supposed to learn, at this point, on your own personal journey.
    I hope you feel better soon. I don't know if it's any comfort but I think you are doing great with how you are focusing on finding your own happiness :)

  • @akuaand

    Hi Lizzy! I'm pretty sure the 3 pages idea comes from Julia Camerson's book "The Artists Way" - she calls it 'brain drain' and you definitely don't have to do 3 full pages. 15-20 mines each morning of just stream of consciousness is enough. Even 10 minutes is more than enough for most people who don't have the time. I don't think the idea is to force yourself to write more than you feel - once you start thinking/writing too much just to fill the pages then you're defeating the purpose. It's meant to be a sort of release - put your morning thoughts on paper so your mind is free from them

  • @artfarm2738
    @artfarm2738 5 років тому

    I can completely relate to the overthinking/over analyzing/being stuck in your head. The past few years I've worked hard at trying to rebalance. Our head is a great tool to use, but the body and heart have so much wisdom (and they're pretty fun as well). I would do morning pages (check out The Artists Way by Julia Cameron, that's where the concept of morning pages originated. I could sometimes write them out in 20-30 minutes if I was having some mad idea (the text would be completely illegible ), but sometimes it would be like pulling teeth and take an hour), meditation helped as well (doesn't have to be long, 5-10 minutes), walking (which I know you do and love), and be creative. Take an art class. I took a pottery class and it really forced me to let go. I found that when I didn't let go, my work sucked, but once I relaxed it turned out so much better. I'm in a head slump again due to too much anxiety and really need to follow my own recommendations. Therapy also really helps!

    • @artfarm2738
      @artfarm2738 5 років тому

      Oh and one more thing, to get out of my head I ask myself how do I want to feel today and that helps me focus more on my body and emotions. I'll write about in in morning pages. And a suggestion for morning pages, yes it is generally stream of conscious thought, but if I'm hitting a wall a few days in a row I will pose myself a question and write on that topic in my pages.

    Hi Liz! I was surprised that it took you 20 minutes per page, but you probably have a more deliberate process than I do. :) Another option can be to write "stream of consciousness" nonsense that just pours out of your head and doesn't require much consideration. Journaling at the end of the day too is something I love because it kind of gets all my worries down onto the paper so they're not keeping me from sleeping. For worries, someone also recommended writing a worry on a strip of paper and putting it into some kind of a special container. When the worry is written down and delivered into the container it can be considered somewhat out of your hands, since you're giving it over to the Universe/God/etc to handle. I haven't done it yet but I love that idea. Much warmth! x

    I’ve thought about this during your previous testing basics - I know you’re buying all new clothes so you can have a fresh comparison for the video, but for brands that you already own, I don’t know if you need to buy a new pair. I’d rather hear your honest comparison on the brand’s jeans as a whole (given you have several pairs from places like & other stories) because you have tons of experience with those brands that goes way beyond one pair of jeans. Then even if I don’t buy the exact same jeans I know generally how they run and have an idea for the quality. Just my 2 cents!

    Random q: what is the black knit you are wearing in the very first clip of the video? I’ve been looking for something slimfit like that and that one looks so so comfy!
    for the jeans, I feel like a range of blue denim (like light to mid/dark blue) would be the best because of fit & sizing and washing, and because I would love a black jeans only testing basics! I feel like black jeans are just so different for both the feel/wash of the jeans usually, and styling them. Just a thought! But if you do a bunch of blues and blacks, obviously it will still be great!

    For help getting into the freewriting / stream-of-consciousness mode, I highly recommend Natalie Goldberg's books: Writing Down the Bones and Wild Mind are the two I'm most familiar with. (I used to teach college writing.) She builds on ideas that Peter Elbow formulated into a method back in 1973. Here is a succinct explanation: peterelbow.com/pdfs/How_to_Write_Better_through_Freewriting_by_Peter_Elbow.pdf
    The point of freewriting is to circumvent your internal "editor" and tap into deeper thoughts and feelings. It can be powerful and therapeutic. That won't happen every time you sit down to write, though. The idea of freewriting is that it's OK to have a writing session where you just skip along the surface of things without landing on anything significant. You have to have sessions like that in order to create the conditions where you *can* land on something significant and dig into the depths of it. The key is to show up every day, and just write whatever comes out, without judgment or correction. It sounds easy, but it takes some effort to get into that groove. I'm 100% certain that you can do it! :)

    Just putting it out there that Lizzy doesn’t owe any of her viewers an explanation of why she is feeling down. When you feel like shit it can be hard enough talking about it with the people closest to you, let alone a bunch of strangers on the internet. Please don’t make it harder by speculating in this very public arena. Lizzy I think you’re fabulous and I’m glad you have a great support network to help you through this dip x

    Can I suggest trying meditation. I do it via an app and it has helped me to learn how to turn off the incessant internal dialogue and makes you feel amazing afterwards. I highly recommend it. X
