  • In this video, we explore Romania's Saur 1 APC, a significant evolution from the earlier Zimbru 2000. The Saur 1 boasts a completely redesigned hull, moving away from traditional Russian-influenced designs and incorporating more Western-style elements. With welded steel armor, it offers robust protection against small arms fire and artillery shell splinters, and it is designed to withstand an 8 kg TNT anti-tank mine blast under any wheel, according to its manufacturer, ROMARM. Despite its innovative design and impressive features, the Saur 1 encountered significant challenges that led the Romanian Ministry of Defense (MoD) to seek alternative solutions. Join us as we delve into the development, capabilities, and the hurdles faced by the Saur 1 APC.

A nice re-imagining of the BTR-series APCs. IMO, they gave up too soon...aggressive marketing to lesser nations with old combloc APCs might have worked.
