  • Gear: MotoRadds Flex Slim Camera Mount on a Klim TK1200 4K
I've found that the better location for a helmet camera, for the view, comfort and ease of microphone connection is on the chin of the helmet. I've used a WannaBes mount on my LS2, but for my new Klim TK1200, they don't make one (yet), so I thought I'd try something else. This is a mount called a Flex Slim from a company called MotoRadds and it's a flexible strip with some 3M VHB adhesive tape/foam. It seems to fit pretty well and having used it, so far, it seems like a good solution.
The following are associate links for the mount I purchased:

Also available direct from MotoRadds in the US:

using a heat gun or hair dryer to heat up the plastic and the bonding material really lets it mold perfectly the shape of the helmet and lets the adhesive stick way better! before i got my chin mount i had my camera clamped onto my rear passenger foot peg with a mic plugged into it lol! was a pita! 😊😂

Yup. I got that right with a second one on a Klim helmet.

I use a system with two straps, Andre. Made in China, cheap. Advantage: You can take if off from one helmet and put it on another, from sportsbike helmet to enduro helmet to scooter helmet. I also use a small extension like you in order to see the GoPro's monitor. So I know it's filming ;-)

How is it in the rain? I’d looked at some but the straps stopped the visor from sealing, and the slight gap made quite a lot of noise for the helmet mic to pick up.

@@PeakMotorcycles Good point, Andre. Because of the two straps my visor stays slightly open, maybe 1 mm. That's fine for me even in foul weather. My GoPro 7 black sits in a completely closed (underwater) casing to keep the engine/Wind noises out. Worked in full monsoon rain perfectly on the way back from ACT Pyrenees, cam stayed dry. Me? Noooo.

I really like that this GoPro mount should fit any helmet.
Thanks for showing the extra bits about the mic, etc.
I recently filmed some rides in Big Bend National Park using my GoPro Hero 7.
I used the Ram Mount to get the camera just above the windscreen center.
I’m currently in Cloudcroft, New Mexico. Took the Rally out for a spin, and found a dirt road through the mountains.
Will try to film some of it tomorrow.
    Happy Trails

Sounds like an amazing place to ride. Not jealous at all here in the European gloom!

@@PeakMotorcycles Yep, I got in two pretty good rides in Big Bend.
We’re in Cloudcroft, New Mexico now. I got in a couple of good rides today, one tarmac, one dirt National Forest road.
Haven’t used my GoPro in years. Having to get reacquainted with it. Will let you know when they’re posted.

Have you found a front fender tool bag that fits nicely on the 300 Rally?
I was told that there are certain ones, such as giant loop that do not fit very well due to the headlight being in the way. For this reason, I have been searching for the shortest one...

    • @PeakMotorcycles
      @PeakMotorcycles  Рік тому +1

Not really. The headlight is definitely a problem due to the availability of space on the narrow bit of the fender where the clips can grip. I think the only secure solution is to bolt through the fender, so any with loops or webbing that allows that should be fine.

Great stuff, question, are you going to the Eicma this year? Pleeeeease say YES. You did an amazing job of it the last time

Thanks Dave, I hope so. I’ve applied for my pass, so will see what they say. There’s a few things going on at home which might mean I can’t go, but as of now, I have flights and a hotel booked, and have the time off work. We shall see. I’m hoping there might be a few interesting things; maybe the new TransAlp, water cooled 450 Himalayan, 1300GS and who knows what else. Fingers crossed.

Hi, yes. I fly out to Milan on Monday. They gave me a media pass this year, so I’ll have two days of filming. Anything in particular you’d like to see?
