The best thing about this game honestly was making Pikachu happy. I remember mine never fainted during my playthrough and seeing him happy made the experience worth it. No wonder friendship evolutions came so quick for me generations after.
They could just do this with each pokemon and it would be loved. It would make the stuff worth it and be a nice touch. Th current things are easy to exploit in many senses. Much better to have this be the primary way your pokemon to do the special stuff in battles and in the overworld.
One thing I remember discovering very early on back then is that if you try use a healing item on Pikachu while it's at full HP, you'll get the usual "won't have any effect" message, but Pikachu will react positively to it anyway, and repeatedly doing this can easily max out Pikachu's happiness in just a few minutes. (So, with that Potion that's in your PC at the very start of the game... yeah.)
Pikachu's friendship needs to be at least 147. BTW, it's kinda easy to manipulate Pikachu's level of friendship in this game, either by increasing it (spamming Potions, etc.) or decreasing it (putting it into the PC then taking it out right away).
@@LITTLE1994 Well, let‘s do the math. You get the Pikachu at 90 friendship and it loses 1 point each time it faints in battle, so you would have to let it faint 40 times plus two extra times for every 512 steps you took; and all of this without ever levelling up. I would be surprised if you had managed to pull that off unintentionally.

@whitemask279 If you're in rock tunnel without flash and Pikachu knows Thunderbolt or Thunder and you speak to him, he lights up the area briefly again.
...the friendship starts at 90, and you would have to trade it 9 times (trading Pikachu is the fastest way to get its friendship down to 0; just remember that the receiving game doesn't recognize it as your partner Pikachu) from the very start to get it to 0 (but only 4 times to get it to the lowest range of 0 to 50), and one more if the 50% chance to increase it by 2 every 256 steps happened at any point along the way
Yes, they are coded in PCM. If you're really curious, you can look at how the sound harware registers are populated here: github.com/pret/pokeyellow/blob/master/engine/pikachu_pcm.asm. @Furious Tell me about it. Let's Go was quarter-assed at most, barely including any of the countless improvements and innovations made over the decades. Standalone Kanto's never had a day'night cycle, y'know? Not to mention fleshing out the rosters of Gym Leaders and Elite 4 using non-Kanto Pokemon; that's never been done, with FireRed/LeafGreen only giving the Elite 4 Johto Pokemon (and thus leaving Agatha and Lance without a full team of Ghost-types and Dragon-types, respectively). Also fuck motion controls, and fuck not being able to use Pro Controllers (and Magic-NS, to use my Wii U Pro Controller). What the hell were they thinking, with these? Lastly, apparently the restriction to only the first 151 (plus Alolan forms, for whatever reason) was to aim these disasters towards GO fans - except that GO keeps on actively adding the rest of the National Dex, and by the time of Let's Go's release, already had Johto, Hoenn, and I think Sinnoh too. Oops. Suddenly GO players can't transfer in most of their collection either, just like us mainline fans.

pikachu tsundere
Espero que vean este vídeo al terminar la serie. XD
Thanks for the memories and the good times ❤
I remember the first time I played Pokémon yellow. I had headphones on, and when Pikachu yelled out on the title screen, it hurt my ears so bad I haven’t recovered.
I loved when Pikachu fell in love with clefairy
Awww... Brings back wonderful memories.
So glad i still have my game picking up dust somewhere 😅
5:39 Pikachu: OMG!!!!
Surprised that after all these years I thought that I saw all possible animations and I was wrong
Holy crap is that Pikachu pissed at the beginning. I'm glad I wasn't so bad at the game that he ever got that mad, lol.
I would love to see a proper Yellow remake some day.
I rarely talk to my Pikachu XD So I don't know all these
And the part when Bill got transformed back made me laugh a lot because of Pikachu's reaction
I was actually looking for a video like this when Yellow was released on the 3DS virtual console
Wow, this brings back so many good memories....thank you for that! :)
Wow I’ve been playing this game for so long and never noticed a lot of those details! This game is one of my favorites!
