When I landed in Mississippi the only thing I saw as we drove fromJackson to Laurel was several private prisons. I also saw lots of abandon store fronts. It was so depressing to see so many prisons and no places to hang. What type of job market do they have to survive? Its a great place to retire to. But young people need descent jobs to survive and opportunities to thrive.

I was born in jackson but raised in Rankin county as a kid my mother never had a car we used to get on the j train buses and we walked in jackson back in the 90's with my brother and sister .she had us going everywhere. we didnt have the best childhood my mother passed back in 2009 and when I get emotional I remember her and the places we used to go .and my aunt she lived in jackson she lived all over jackson me and my other brothers and sisters we used to stay with her in the summer we used to baby sit our cousins. while my aunt worked or went to the boat .we had fun we used to always look forword in going to her house .we saw a few things happen also my aunt was staying in the queens at west wick apts somebody got to fighting on the stairs they were about to throw this man off the rails we where like omg .they told my aunt to close the door .and when she was staying in the woodlands so much happend .I was much older in my late teens one night I snuck out with this boy we went to this other apartment while I was out the police came sworming in by this apartment near by kicking the door in .me and the dude we where ghost but again I didn't have a good life as a kid we were on most of theses government programs never had a father in the house we had a so called father figure but he was crooked he molested me and my older sister .but that's another story any way .most people that know me they tell me to be careful going to jackson trying to put fear in me but guess what I still ride to jackson by my self sometimes with my son or to see my half brother and sisters .I date this guy from jackson when I come to jackson. . I don't bother nobody like the saying goes don't start nothing won't be nothing.

Grow up educate yourself (My people perish for lack of knowledge) and give back to your community the right way. If you not gonna do that at least take that "hustle" money and buy business and create commerce for your community.

I lived in S. Jackson until I was 16. When we had the 1st drive by at Wingfield hs. Before class, my parents decided it was time to go. I've lived and worked in and around the Jackson area most of my life, when the FBI came in and arrested almost 1/2 Jpd (including the chief) I knew it was over. Always told my kids stay away from Jackson, get out of Mississippi. It's a dieing state.
