I'm glad you're showing the device in action in real life. Your sister place looks so serene and beautiful, breath of fresh air from the hustle bustle of city life. Also, props for properly demoing the software works in conjunction to the unique hardware. Not that I'm going to buy one but other reviews mostly went straight to the buggy parts, which make me barely understand how this thing works. Keep up the good works bro 🤭

I only started watching your videos a few days ago, but at this point I've watched every one from the past couple months! I love these Real World Tests. Keep pushing out great content David! (And how does this channel not have 1 mil subs yet?)
I have been using the Duo for two days and I'm not experiencing a lot of the issues the reviewers are. That's not to discount them, it's been pretty good so far. I think a lot of using this device for me is the muscle memory. It's just takes some adjustment to learn how to navigate the UI. There is definitely room for improvement and I'm happy to be on that ride....

Image comparison is amazing and to be fair it would have been good if you delayed the image name for 5 seconds to let people see the images then guess what device each is, so you mind gets an first unbias view before name reveal also mix the images in different positions for same effect.
However, all said thank you, it's appreciated.
I don't know but the colors look the best in the Duo photos, It is just lacks DOF cause of the small sensor.

I tend to agree, in bright light the colors did look a little bit more reference and some may feel that they're muted because most cameras nowadays come in with a higher saturation. I kept looking for crap in the photos and I wasn't able to see them. I'd like one of these bloggers to actually post the photos where I can download them and look at them on a good monitor so I could see what's missing because it doesn't come across to my eye via the screen in the videos As it started to get darker you could see that their color science is too more toward green a software fixed could fix that. Actually a photo editor could fix it also by just adjusting away from green and over into the reds make it a bit warmer. Overall looking at the comparisons I didn't see a serious lack of detail in comparison to the other cameras, I didn't see where the other cameras are really kicking it in the ass except for at night because it doesn't have a night mode. Night mode is a software thing. Again the other cameras if I'm not mistaken are all 12 megapixel and it's 11 megapixel That's not a big difference it's also an f2, so I think this is something they can fix computationally.
Loved the trip and real world usage... much more of a rounded review than sat in a studio going through things - so thumbs up from Scotland.

Keep up the great work. Your videos are key when I make a buying decision. I'm a surface pro user so I'm very intrigued by the surface duo. Precovid I'd be working at a coffee shop and being able to do this on the duo ad hoc on the go would be wonderful. But that asking price is tough.

Love the concept and the design, although would like to see a slightly more “Note-ish” approach to the pen. As mentioned, the software issues can be fixed, so not too fussed about that part. The one thing that stops me from going for it is the hardware, more particular the cameras. Really wish Microsoft had leveraged their (purchased, but still) experience from the Lumina Pureview series and put in a flagship-worthy camera array. That would pretty much make it perfect, but at it stands, it is a great tech demo. Maybe in a future iteration.

First off love your videos. I stumbled onto this today and find your videos to be incredibly refreshing. For me I bought the duo because I love the innovation and like that it's different completely. My biggest hangups are 100% software related. I used mine for Google maps and Spotify then had to shoot off a text and it became incredibly cumbersome and ended up not unlocking, black screening then not swapping screens that I needed. That being said beyond the software I am in love with the phone and the concept. As purely consumer I buy phones that I enjoy and want to live with for a bit. I hope software gets ironed out and the phone gets to be more seamless and enjoyable

Yeah your sis has the right idea living 2 hours away from New York City. Why on earth people want to live in city centres nowadays is beyond me. Everywhere gets fast internet, everywhere is cheaper than Manhattan. Oh and you balance coffee when walking beautifully.

Nice concept and like the hardware design, but I would go with the fold 2 because there are too many compromises for the duo at $1400.

Very nice review, I really liked the style a-la "day in the life of", showing the device as you went by your day in real-world scenarios, and the camera comparison was awesome. The only constructive feedback I could offer, since you mentioned you would be shooting video with it would be to label your video takes when using the Surface Duo and when using your camera, it was hard at times to figure out what you were using (I know you did once or twice, but not consistently). Cheers!

Awesome video! Love Train travel. For anyone interested Im watching this on my duo and have had minimal if any issues with bugs or anything alot of reviewers are mentioning, not sure if i got lucky but it's been fantastic, there is a learning curve with how to operate the gestures but that's more cause of the new form factor. Only real gripe is the camera, but this was common knowledge from the beginning. Sounds weird but I actually don't mind or notice the bezels at all, with an all glass and metal device it actually helps in a weird way with holding it In different postures. For anyone seriously considering it I'd fully recommend. Oh I did have my wallpaper go black one or twice but I just closed the phone and opened it and it fixed it less than 3 seconds, still should not have to deal with that but at least it was an easy fix.

I absolutely love this phone. I haven't had many issues. The pros far out weigh the cons in my opinion. I think with updates the phone will get better and better.

I LOVE the form factor. It looks intimately small, but useable. I also love the stylus input, but wondering if it can be used in apps like Word, agenda software, etc.
Did I imagine seeing the camera do okay for most of the day, but going quite green in the evening?

I really like it but its too expensive and would want to wait until version 2. The camera seemed better than some reviews implied though pixel and apple are definitely better than both of the foldables. Considering the duo doesn't have night mode it did better than expected in low light but not great by any means.
It seems like the photos in low light conditions are where the Duo really suffers, because in regular lighting conditions the photos hold up just fine. They're not top of the line by any means, but they are definitely passable.
Hopefully Microsoft can add a newer lens as well as a night mode for the 2nd generation of the Duo.
honestly thats most cameras....its a reason why professional photographers still take pics with certain lights when they are not outside

I am torn. There is a lot I like about this phone but there are some hardware complaints that I have and now with all the complaints about buggy software I'm really leaning towards the zfold 2.
I love how thin it is but i would go for z fold 2
Has the device gotten better over time with software updates? Your traveling around has given me some places in NY that I want to check out.
Sliding silicon glove like cases that are going to be thick enough to protect the phone all around, but also ultra soft almost liquid in the centre, that are going to allow the phone to move as it should and fold completely. Like a squishy silicon bubble that moves around like slime.

I as well. The plant at 04:22 is nice and green and in focus vs the other brands. Plus no yellow to it. Not personally am not sure why the Duo gets bad reviews for camera.
The Duo is a productivity device, made to optimize use of MS apps like Teams/Office, taking notes with pen OneNote etc. So camera/speaker tests are pointless, as they shouldn't be the reason anybody buys the Duo.
With that premise in mind why would ANYBODY buy a device like this just to use Microsoft apps? Nobody is buying highly niched devices like this anymore. Honestly... they never were.

@@duudleDreamz I did and I'm happy with it so far. Far from perfect but once you use a dual screen device for work or just day to day tasks, it's hard to not use it.

I picked one up today and not sure, I bought the galaxy fold 2 and was may even thinking of switching to the duo because it's half the price almost mine had like a bowing back where the glass looked like it was separating from the phone. I've had my fold 2 for the past 3 days and everytime I open this phone up I fall in love more. Idk what to do cause one has to get returned I wanna like the duo more.

I love it, the Duo is a awesome device. It has its drawbacks, but the good far out weighs the bad. You just have to approach how you traditionally use a device.

You could certainly see some people liking it once some of the bugs are worked out , for me though , i`m liking what i see with galaxy Z fold 2 , although my bank account is very grumpy about it though :) , the fold is is near enough to 3k$ here in Australia .
